Really they should just stop allowing people to have separate "Own engine volume" and "Other vehicles engine volume". There's really no reason why there even exists the option to selectively mute your own tanks sounds in preference to that of the enemies. Its a tank game, your own tank IS loud, and you really should not be hearing enemy tanks unless your commander is unbottoned and out of his hatch and/or your own engine is off, at the very least.

Well, usually a tank has 3-4 crewmen. The commander's job is mostly maintaining situational awareness. Not only through periscope, but also the radio and battle management systems. Gunner and Driver also are scanning the area, if only in limited forward arcs. Tanks also don't operate alone.

Best bet is going to the IRC with sufficient evidence and talking to someone like (allah forgive me) ABIB. You'd need stuff like screenshots and archive links showing the abuse and so on to make a real case. There's also the feedback button but sending a report there can possibly lead to it being intercepted and removed by the rogue before anyone else can see it.

I take it that this is the new "F-14 guiding an R-60 into its asshole via a breadcrumb trail of flares" webm, but a lot of newfags really struggle with SPAAGs. I'm going to give some serious advice for the newfag lurkers in the peanut gallery.

>1: radar lock
Ideally you want to lock the target with an IRST system so that the plane isn't alerted that you've locked him. I'll excuse this guy a bit since I don't think that the ZSU has an IRST system. When you must acquire a radar lock, you normally want to do so at the last minute once the plane has committed to an attack already so that he has very little time to react.

There are additional reasons why you want to kill planes during their attack runs. Pilots tend to tunnel vision during their attack run as they focus on aiming their weapons, so their awareness of incoming threats is reduced. Aircraft control surfaces tend to lock up during high speed dives, which makes it harder to evade and makes their flight path more predictable. Planes are dependent upon their control surfaces working to pull out of a dive. Minor damage such as clipped wingtips or damaged elevators are tremendous problems when a plane is a dive but can be nothingburgers when damaged in level flight.
>2: The radar calculated point of aim indicator
This point of aim indicator shows where you need to aim the target IF it maintains both the current speed and heading. This plane's heading and speed are constantly changing, so the correct point of aim to score a hit is not where the circle is. It's probably somewhere near there though. You'll need to take note of how the target is moving an infer where you should aim relative to the calculated point of aim for his current speed and heading.

A recommended course of action is to wait for the pilot to start flying in a straight line, such as when he's committing to a ground attack run, then aim slightly in front of the point of aim indicator and gradually drag your burst through the circle until it is slightly behind the circle. The first ~3 seconds of this clip is where he was most likely to score a safe kill. The problem is that he kept his point of aim in front of the circle the whole time. A bit too far in front of the circle. He probably would have scored a hit if he would have drug his burst across the circle.
>3: shooting at long range
Bullets are slow. For easy math I'm going to estimate them at 1000m/s, but they're probably slower than that. When the target was ~2km away, then it takes a full 2 seconds for your bullets to hit him. You can aim a perfect shot at the target and he'll have a full two seconds to simply dodge the bullet with the slightest of adjustments to his controls. Look at his movements. Look at how quickly the circle moves. Does it LOOK like he's flying in a straight line for two whole seconds at a time? No? Then stop wasting fucking ammo. You're not going to hit him. When the line between the calculated aim point and the box around the target is that fucking huge at that range, that's a bit of a warning that conditions are really fucking shitty for landing any kind of hit. You'll need to wait until he's a lot closer before you can realistically hope to score consistent hits.

We've established that you are most likely to score hits when you are close to the target and when he's committed to an attack run. You can't be close to a plane that has committed to attacking your teammates if you're way the fuck in the middle of nowhere in your spawn. You're more likely to be in position to threaten aircraft if you advance forward to a position that is closer to your team. Grid C3 provides locations that are much closer to the action that should still be protected against most ground opponents.

Planes also expect SPAAGs to camp in the spawns since 99% of you do. They'll look to the spawns when trying to assess if it's safe to loiter over the battlefield to look for targets. By not loitering in the spawn, and by hiding your presence via disabling your radar and abstaining from spraying tracers from ridiculous ranges, you are likely to lull planes into a false sense of security where they are more likely to over-commit to their attack runs.

although i've found simply switching nation+br sometimes works around it but it's not 100%

Yeah, it's ridiculous those two planes are at the same BR. You can also rip your wings with high G pulls when you're close to your ripspeed, but getting a feel for that doesn't really take that long. Even in a full uptier you can usually do decently since most enemies are stupid enough to get roped into dogfights.
