the problem with classical chess with classical time controls is the fact that it's so long AND so drawish AND so boring/repetitive. the long clocks aren't a problem in and of themselves

As a casual I don't have it in me to set aside 3 hours to watch a chess game live. I just watch recaps. But if the point is to at some point have Chess as a spectator sport, long time controls ARE a problem.
