Do they change up their attack patterns/timings when they're bosses in the overworld or something? I can reliably no-hit many of them in normal mode missions and dojos, but now I'm just getting destroyed.

The more I think about it, the more a Predator Souls game makes sense to me. Just going around different alien worlds and locales and hunting string wildlife and Yutani Androids and powerful humans is such a simple and effective setup that could scratch the Sci-Fi itch this subgenre is lacking

I don't think I let myself learn how to use it so I say it's trash. You might be right in that it's easy mode, and to me it feels like a limiter. I felt unable to be creative because I'd throw it up and wait for bosses or mini bosses to bounce off it. But even then, I didn't feel like I could capitalize on the aegis explosion. It just sorta felt like a "I can't figure out timings so I'mma use this 'shield' thing". And that felt harder because I had put in the time to learn parry timings

I just came here to say that Lies of P was better than Bloodborne. Aesthetically and writing-wise BB is better, but Lies of P is the better game. BB just felt unfinished even though it's impressive in parts for

BB was the playground for a lot of great ideas but the overall game was pretty mediocre. It picks up speed in the “second half” but the DLC is the best part, and although it's great, it's not worth $20

I still don't know what a soulslike is. Linearity ? Simplified levelling system, losing loot when you die, influence of fighting games. I don't get it guys, WRPGs have been doing this since forever.

For my first playthrough, I did a Capacity/Advance build. None of the boss weapons ever had any Advance scaling so I just exchanged for all the amulets the first run, then all the weapons in NG+. Although, I was a fucking goober and forgot to explore and talk to npcs after beating the game the first time and went straight into NG+. So I missed out on some dialogue and the final boss amulet. I gotta do some more runs to get the dialogue, but I'll be happy to play through the game again whenever for the rest of my life cause the story is just that good.

Those three things, for me, are what makes a game a Soulslike. Some games may have one or two of those mechanics, but until you can clearly see all three in play you don't have a Soulslike, or a "traditional Soulslike".

It's your first playthrough so I'd just continue doing what you're doing and accept your choices. There's an achievement for each of the three endings. But it's not about lying. It's about being human.

I think, since she should be one of the very first npcs the player comes across to help, she rewards P with Feel regardless of the choice. But some choices drastically change an npc's story. And I can think of one case where an interaction with an npc can be knowledge to use with another npc. You can choose whatever choice with either of those interactions, but there's still a through-thread of "love" and "what it means to be human".
Don't sweat your choices too much. The game is pretty lenient with ways to acquire humanity. Some interactions are just powerful and lead to better story outcomes. Other choices lead to the shit Fromsoft npc endings >>521606787

a game i picked up recently called bleak faith. i picked it up at the same time as ai limit, which i enjoyed.
but maybe it's because the latter game has better controls, it felt a bit awkward jumping into BF. i clipped through terrain in the very first area, had some graphical issues with the settings... my favorite part of soulslikes is the exploration, so i prefer ail to p for example. and this game was supposed to be big on that aspect. but i just can't get started. not too late yet to refund it

Yeah in the pic I missed that they actually say "coming this summer" towards the bottom. They might just wanna spend more on development instead of marketing, which I appreciate. I don't need them to make a bunch of trailers spoiling everything. But then again, I'm already sold.

When we do it in English we see it as sort of cringe, but the Japanese love it, they don't have a cringe detector, kind of like how some percentage of them just don't have the gene that produces body odour. None of them have the ability to detect cringe, or if they do they're such an oppressed minority that they just never post.

Ok, so I’m now at the Malum District and I can definitely feel the game cranking up the heat, at least in terms of the special enemies. I had to run past the giant monster with the axe that bursts through the gate because that thing is crazy and honestly feels like it could have been a boss on its own. I’m using fire weapons which is supposed to be their weakness but I’m still doing what feels like very little damage because how much healthy they have and they still hit like trucks, what are some general tips for them? I’m at the area with the other special with clubs and I don’t think I can kill it either.

They are brutal, the one that burst through a wooden gate killed me a lot. Thankfully the one in the Malum District doesn't respawn, so you can take your time, punish him with some heavy attacks and you should be good. The small fry carcasses I sometimes don't even bother dodging them, just guarding is enough and you can replenish all your HP while killing them. I assume you're also using the fire dagger? Don't forget you can change your weapon handle to a bigger one if you feel like you need more range (I didn't since I like the dagger l2). Have fun with the boss, it's the one that killed me the most so far. (but it's not a bad fight, I like it a lot)
