I upgraded the Milady build with some suggestions from here.
18 dex so i can use the golem greatbow and replacing the Dragoncrest talisman allowed me to hit 111 poise with Favor+2.
Thoughts?

I'm so happy, I was able to get revenge on the twinking invader.(with plenty of help from the other finger and the host)
The same guy showed up at Stormveil. Near the end, in front of Godrick's gate. He tried his homing fireball technique on me again, but I was ready for him this time. Fired some arrows, forcing him back into the doorway. From there, he tried to throw some pot that summons a spinning skeleton. The other finger got hit by it but survived.

The invader retreats back to the troll standing in front of Godrick's doorway. From there, he tries to throw big madness pots from the DLC, and more of those s[inning skeletons. he hit me with one pot, but we camped in the two side doorway, while he threw stuff impotently.

Eventually, the other finger got close enough to aggro the troll. I don't want to get close, so I'm tossing firebombs at the invader, while the other finger tries to melee him. The host finally pulling up and distracting the troll from the safety of the doorway.

The invader is trying to spam the madness spell at the other finger. I finally see an opportunity to get inside. While he's casting, the other finger is getting hit, but I run up to the invader's back and get the backstab. Didn't kill him, but he's one-hit now, so we just bully him as he tries to panic roll out, and kill him. I teabag him. Very cathartic.

Wow, this dude really is useless. I'm tempted to update the game, cuz this is kinda bullshit, but at the same time the only things left to do after beating this fight are the fingerlord and dragonlord bosses, which are presumably just as difficult as Radahn, so there's no point rushing past one fight just to get stuck on another.
Please give me some advice, Elden bros.

like 2 or 3 dozen levels of stats, secondary options on rh2 or the like. You may have overcompensated on the poise too far into deep poise you didn't have to go to 111 for what you are doing. If you went that high for specific pvp reasons your lack of alternative options is going to be a bigger issue. If you aren't doing pvp you can shave like half that poise and still be aces to clear the game, if you are doing pvp you made a one trick pony that is fucked if someone knows how to press dodge.

Yeah its optimized for pvp but i dont think your concerns are a big issue, theres lots of other options i can hardswap to and the amount of strength is optimal for this level bracket.

It is sort of an issue, you have 0 offensive options outside of 10 ft. You might think that is all it is but the kicker is when someone realizes that in combat and easy bake oven cooks you with an aoe knowing you have to move into range to do anything. You are going to get fucked sideways by fags with 12 fth roaring at you and your poise won't poiseblob thru it.
Your spready isn't going to catch anyone in the pvp meta. Good luck out there bro.

Yeah idk, I guess I'll sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow. The issue is that I'm a retard and it takes me a bit to figure out how to avoid flashy attack patterns, and the time it takes to reach phase two makes the process quite a bit more difficult. If I keep at it a while longer it'll probably click.

I've never experienced consistent issues. Whenever I load into a game as a gold and it says connection failure the enemies just killed the host.

No this is kino, i love that basic early game weapons can be super powerful in these games instead of being junk that you 100% replace later.

I guess that's happened to me every now and again. But I allow the game to idle in the background while I wait to get picked up in pools. Sometimes I checkon the game, and there's a network error while I was idle. But considering that the game has been on for hours and hours, I don't think it's a big deal. And it doesn't happen every day.

I mean i agree that many somber weapons are too weak but i dont think they should all be stronger than basic weapons categorically either, ideally they would just strike a good balance where you just choose weapons based on what seems cool or fun to you.

Not every weapon needs to be equal. Weapons can have niches or just be straight up replaced by better ones.

If you actually play the game you get a dumb amount of the final stones and like other anon said you get bell bearings for the rest. If you play the game you have more runes than you know what to do with at endgame.
I've maxed out the 10 character slots, some characters I don't use anymore. I've respecc'd them to entirely new builds and still had enough of the ancient stones for final upgrades on a whole new kit of gear.
I've played the game for like 4000 hours at this point, your (((issue))) isn't a real issue, it is you being autistic and thinking everyone suffers from the same character failings you do.

Cool, that has nothing to do with the first blind playthrough which should be the focus of the game's design. You barely have enough stones for a couple of weapons for most of the game, so you don't risk them. Or you spend them all blindly and now have another reason to not care about new loot, because even the 1% you can use now can't be upgraded. Only Souls does this shit.

I've maxed all 10 slots and rerolled some of them and still play to this day anon. Don't try to twist the argument as some beginner on launch thing.
You get enough stones to
>have 5-6 "main weapons"
>have 3-4 offhand weapons or tech options
>have shields/staves/seals
>have 3-4 specific tool weapons for specific bosses
ALL at max tier with stones to spare. This even applies to your first blind run. If you didn't organically figure out the obvious pattern to the early game bell bearings I don't know what to tell you. If you couldn't beat x boss with your weapon at the time not at max tier I don't know what to tell you.

Personally, I didn't use ashes much during my first playthrough. Dunno why. I just wasn't used to the new mechanics I guess. Still, I had fun with my heavy strength build. They actually made strength builds fun again.
I've done a number of builds, and while I did use ashes a lot more in those runs, I still think that each weapon is useful in their own right, without the need for L2 spam. Elden Ring takes an absolute dookie dump on DS3.

Maybe for your first playthrough of your first game but you really shouldn't have a problem after that. Just pick a weapon that you like the movement and and check the scaling scaling. It's not really that complicated. I you really want to be safe get some secondary weapons in a different class but with similar stat scaling and with different damage type.

Weapon upgrading just shouldn't exist, that would fix so many issues with the game.
Finding weapons around the world would feel so much more rewarding or fun if you could immediate try them out, assuming your build allows it.
The hyper restrictive upgrade system that doesn't even allow you to use a handful of weapons for most of a playthrough is shit and really doesn't add any value at all, but whatever esoteric benefits you might ascribe to the upgrade system certainly don't outway the downsides.

It encourages you to find a weapon you like and main it throughout the game.

There should be no need to constantly switch between weapons.
You can always make a new guy if you want to try out a different build, or just respec with the larval tear.

The weapons are so reliant on your stats that you really should just pick one.

Not, really no. The old cancer was much more tame than the new cancer, with the exception of the glitches. I'd gladly take idiots spamming thunderstorm, dragon halberd's spinning slash, or dual naginata over everyone and their dog using rot grease pata and spamming DLC consumables that deal 80% of your HP at low levels.

Case in point, for the first few months after the game released no one realized how strong pots were. I think I might have been one of the first people to realize because I was playing through the game with a pot-only joke build the week before the patch that added the companion jar talisman. I'm not bragging or anything especially because the build was brain dead, I'm just saying it took months for me to begin seeing other people using pots. Now the first thing every invader does is throw rock pots at you.

All they have to do is give actual recovery frames to crouch attacks and some running r1s like patas. I have also never seen someone use it besides me. I just mean it feels like that's what the devs were going for. It's got the double moveset with a built in true combo, takes advantage of the spear and two handed talismans, hyper armor, is a legendary weapon but is still infusible. Crazy good damage and status on an all poke moveset. It's not like what the community uses for sweating but it feels like what the devs would have intended for it.

They failed is what other anons are saying. In reality it is as easily dodgeable as the crucible wings ash so everyone dropped it because it doesn't actually kill anyone in real metas.
If you want to 1 shot in stormveil it works sometimes. Outside of that you are going to whiff and then get hit on the backswing.
Definitey a cool weapon though.

Redid my 2 launch builds from before the dlc existed. DLC added a ton of tools for both and they felt like entirely new builds

Yeah pretty much. The stability and hit detection is also pretty spot on. I think I have had one major instance of de-sync with another player who literally froze in place and then instagibbed me because he was hitting me on his screen. I think he just Dcd from the internet for a sec but still. Its not that bad compared to DS/ER vanilla.
DS2 actually has a really good mp mod called "Blue Sentinel", which makes eye orbs unbreakable and allows you to invade anywhere AND it shows the ping between you two AND if they are cheating. Its so good.
From has no idea how to make multiplayer in their games work and has never had any intention of fixing the issues.

Hello, finally got around to buying this game. I want to do a Ranni-ending playthrough as my first one with an INT-focused character but I wanna try out all the INT-related equipment, not just robes and staves but the dex/strength weapons that scale with INT and anything thematically related to sorcery like the carian knight set and weapons even the ones that don't scale much with INT. Either I play with fashion souls as my goal or I don't play at all, fuck all the ugly PVPniggers. Should I start with Prisoner or Astrologer? It's a tough choice.

If your goal is to use a bunch of different INT weapons, go prisoner. A lot of those require DEX and if you need DEX 14 or higher, prisoner is better than astrologer.

There isn't a single other instance of a reused VA in the entire game. We only have two examples, Seluvis and Pidia and Hyetta and Irina, both of which because of this are implied to be the same character. Especially in the case of Hyetta/Irina because they use the exact same model, Hyetta can't appear until Irina is dead, and Edgar (Irina's father) is involved in Hyetta's quest line. When FROM reuses VA it is incredibly rare and clearly done so intentionally. If we had shit like, I don't fucking know, Boc and Patches sharing a VA, characters with NO relation, you'd have a point, but for connected characters to share a VA? And this rarely? It's obvious there's a reason why.

Regular invasions are both more difficult and more unpleasant. I'm doing invasions while leveling a new character in Seamless right now. First off, that's not something I'd even considering doing in vanilla because I've done it before and it's miserable. If you're not fighting password phantoms with endgame / DLC items, you're fighting anti-twinks with the same. I've done it before and it just rushes me to "finish" my build because invading without full flasks, the warming stone recipe, every buyable status cure item, etc. etc. just punishes you over and over. Second, Seamless invasions just feel like what I expect out of invasions: 2-3 people playing through the game at a roughly equal level.
I think vanilla is interesting if you're addicted to killing password phantoms and anti-twinks (which I was at one point), but for a more casual experience where you're not playing through half the game before you're "allowed" to invade seamless is better.

Bernahl sells several solid early game ashes of war: spinning slash, impaling thrust, storm blade, endure, and war cry. It's very easy to get a war cry build going because you have war cry, the axe talisman, the +10 STR physick tear, the charge attack physick tear, off-hand highland axe, and (if you're willing to ride over to Castle Redmame) the STR-leaning fire whetstone. To take this even further, you could throw war cry on a halberd or spear, grab the spear talisman from Liurnia, and have what is essentially a completely finished war cry counter damage build within 20-30 minutes. Also, dragon halberd is early in the game.

If you're INT, just pick up Carian slicer, swift glintstone shard (from the scroll at the beginning of Liurnia), and the meteorite staff and you're good to do. Night maiden's mist is also great, although it's more effective against co-op'ers than invaders. If you're FAI, catch flame is all you need.
You really just want to check the boxes you'd check on a finished build:

As for that last one, it's difficult because you obviously have more limited damage bonuses the earlier you are in the game. Fire and magic damage are relatively easy to pump early, thanks to flame, grant me strength, +% damage physick tears, and the raw INT on glintstone crowns combined with meteorite staff's S scaling.

The issue with twinks if that you're just going to lose the war of attrition if you're not careful, even with good anti-twink options. Because so many of them rely on status effects (get flame, cleanse me from Liurnia) and have more healing resources than you, it completely shifts the risk:reward ratio for reckless aggression. You have to play cautious, yet if they get off rot on you once you're backed into a corner and they can and will out-trade you.

I forgot mention the best thing about war cry builds early, which is that UGS war cry R2 into R1 is a true combo with hyper armor. It checks two boxes and is great for fucking up overconfident twinks who think crutches let them mash blindly.
