Do you guys think, that Twisted Clowns(the main theme of the game) will only play in the dead end route of Decay, or is it gonna be used to signify a moment where their dynamics take an irreversible(negative, and probably in one case, positive), change?

Would it be also used when Lord Unknown slowly removes Andrew's feeling for Ashley, and we get to see their kind moments turn to dust one by one, or Ashley choosing to sacrifice Andrew due to not trusting him in Burial run?

Perhaps them finally coming around to giving each other a chance in a positive ending?

Exactly this, I really don't get where some people are coming from where ??? is an Andrew replacement. She likes the entity because it puts her in control, the ability to predict the future and steal souls and kill other people makes her feel powerful, and more importantly, makes her invaluable to Andrew. She thinks so long as she's working for ??? then Andrew will be stuck with her since it'll be far too dangerous for him to leave. 90% of Ashleys thought process is "how can I use this to ensnare Andy?"

Hey /calg/, I haven't posted here in half a year but I just got the Shots and Such ending and wanted to post my thoughts to see if any of you fags feel the same.
It REALLY threw me off with how well-written and realistic it felt. The rape scene especially, somehow Nemlei managed to make it genuinely uncomfortable and not at all hot, especially the part where Andrew wakes up and sees Ashley as a disgusting slob. The scene where Andrew finally snaps and beats the shit out of her should've felt satisfying, but seeing Ashley crying and being vulnerable just made everything so much worse. Up to this point the game really didn't take itself too seriously, so I really didnt expect the ending to feel so grounded. It's amazing and I loved up, but jeez now I feel so much worse for Andrew. Ashley is such a well-written psycho

I hate how this game made me realise that I was the kind of idiot who would fall for Renee's bullshit.

Nemlei herself said Decay refers to that CHAOS AND MAYHEM may not manifest unlless the underlying decay is confronted.

Burial, on the other hand, refers to that BURYING your problems and acting like everything is fine will only lead to problems.

You just kinda will have to accept that Burial branch will be about Ashley, and her trust issues, desire for control, which is as much of a potent factor in fucking her relaitonship with Andrew as much as Andrew's conflicting desires are for the Decay run.

In decay run at least, Andrew is slowly winning her trust over and she sees him genuenly struggle, but in Burial, his flip switches and she has absolutely no idea how to go from there, and the mark on his hand implies Ashley will sell his soul to ???? to keep him leashed.

Personally I found the beating scene to be incredibly cathartic, Andrew finally gets to let out all his pent up frustration on leyley, I just wish he could've done that sooner, maybe then everything would've been better for them.

it may have been poor wording, perhaps, but if you pay attention, Ashley did not fully trust Andrew and she spends half the brurial run ending being concerned over how casual Andrew now is, as he showed himself to be a different man that she thought, one that her tactics do not work on.

Ashley expects Andrew to complain and be combative, not blase and accomodating, sudden change like that makes her feel extremely concerned.

tons of people were thinking "oh this one ends on a happy note and we get our fetish vision this is the "good" route." The change clarifies it will not end how people think. I don't really like the choice change in the basement being reworded either but it might make more sense when Burial actually releases. Having to put the Andrew plush back in the cage is also a big symbolic change but in this case I think that will tie into what really happens.

I don't know how their dev cycle works but it would make the most sense to have a big change/clarification done in a big update like this instead of the piddly mini patches.

She's consistently shown that while she appreciates his change, she does NOT trust him.

They play into the respective Graves' sibling shortcoming, ???? represents power and control Ashley desperately craves and the more she relies on it, the more far gone she becomes, going on the track of becoming a demon herself.
On the flipside, I also think that ???? is a bit of a Ashley as far as demons go, and him rejecting Andrew for being a grime soul and only operating on deals shows how small fry and short sighted he is.

Lord Unknown, meanwhile, is Andrew's demon and he represents a parent Andrew never had, someone to care about him, help him wash his problems away and give him guidance.
The fact that Lord Unknown has seen value in Andrew even when he was a small child shows e's more creative than ???? is, and he clarifies to Andrew he's interested in something beyond a mere one off deal.

Personally, I think he wants Andrew to become his loyal servant in human realm, something akin to the Surgeon, and Andrew, unburdened by his love for Ashley, could very well become someone horrible and powerful, as all he'd have is his intelligence and superficial charm, without his insecurities and love for Ashley to bog him down.

They both are at risk of trading their personal growth and potential for happyness by succumbing to their personal demons and regressing, Ashley regressing itno power hungry Leyley, and Andrew succumbing to his infantilization as Andy and endulgin ginto is fantasy of startng over a new life with a caring parental figure whom he follows.

In hindsight killing the kid on the cliffhanger path was a mistake.

Are we sure Julia didn't start the rumors?
Everything was a little too convenient for her.
I feel like the way we see characters is partially influenced by who we are playing as, it's possible that Ashley has some sort of point while Andrew got fooled into thinking she is a pure angel.

My expectation for Burial:
During the Burial route in "Graves," Ashley can choose the romantic outcome for her and Andrew. The narrator warns her "This is not going to go the way you think it is." Ashley proceeds to paint Andrew over everyone in her life and lock him up in a cage, content she'll have him right wehre she belongs.
I feel the most developed "main ending" of Burial will have Ashley accept that Andrew isn't a person who exists for her and that if she wants to be with him she has to exist for herself too. I think she's going to be devastated by the realization that her childlike fantasies are impossible and that if she wants to spend her life with Andrew, he isn't the only one who has a lot of learning to do.

The only other time I can think of is at the end of the rape scene. We know they have a much better first time here, but maybe it's still just a Burial version of that ending where she becomes Andrew's hussy to keep him around. Difference being she doesn't have to coerce him into it and she doesn't think he's going to murder her.

I wouldn't say "best written game later" but I did think the writing in Episode 3 was a big step up from 1 and 2, especially with how the time capsule and that whole flashback sequence really managed to make me feel just a little bad for Doug and Renee.

I'm not going to check deal with it but there are 2 possible meanings and you suggest 2 different things. I don't know if there was this distinction in the first chapter or two, maybe it was added retroactively, but it's probably author's criticism of the person as grey text and their feelings in brackets.

Also I didn't forget. It's just clear they trust each other way more in Burial since Ashley willingly let him use the talisman with her instead of making sure only she can use it to stay useful to Andrew
