there are countless indie co-op games that have come out in recent years. obviously REPO is the hot one right now with Schedule 1 trailing behind but before that we had games like Lethal Company, Content Warning, Dale and Dawson, Lockdown Protocol etc... all propped up by streamers. But somehow, Phasmophobia, this absolute dogshit game, that gets barely any updates, has one of the most boring gameplay loops ive ever experienced, and looks like complete ass, somehow THIS is the game people decided "nah this wont be a flash in a pan like other co-op indie games, this will be a mainstay". At least with Among Us i could understand since it was basically just a rip off werewolf/mafia irl and also streamers could squeeze it for content during covid. But how is Phasmophobia, still one of the most played games of all time? I genuinely cannot comprehend this, i even played it during release and confidently assumed it would die. I thought it would be like those other one off horror games like Lunch Lady, In Silence, Demonology, Devour, Panicore etc , where the most success it gets is being played by markiplier one time. But no, it has to be one of the most successful games of all time when it doesnt deserve it. Fuck this stupid shitty game and fuck everyone who propped it up, you people are the reason steam is filled with indie co-slop now.
