>>520679384Yeah, the Warcraft movie was very much a missed opportunity. The most egregious parts to me were:
>Everything to do with LotharTravis Fimmel's casting; having a son and a dead wife; being Llane's brother-in-law; having a romance with Garona - all useless subplots that wasted time that could've been spent on something better
>Llane and Taria's castingI genuinely think they were hired as a 2-for-1 deal because the actors were a real-life couple at the time. They seemed really bored and unenergetic throughout the whole film
>BathosOtherwise known as "millennial writing". Lothar is the worst for this. There's a scene where Lothar, Khadgar, and Garona are sitting around a campfire, and Khadgar and Garona discuss their upbringings and it's supposed to be a sad and serious moment. The scene ends with Lothar saying "Well that went well". Also earlier in the film during the orc attack in Elwynn Forest with Lothar saying "Really?" when Khadgar says his horse was stolen. There's another one during the golem fight at the end - again said by Lothar - but I can't remember it.
Khadgar should've been the main human character, not Lothar. Keep Lothar as an old mentor figure. He doesn't need his own subplots.
Also, maybe this is just me being retarded but they should've changed "Guardian Novitiate" to something else. I had no idea wtf Khadgar was saying when he constantly referred to himself as the Guardian Novitiate - it sounded like he was saying "Guardian of Ishiat" and I was wondering wtf Ishiat was. Why not just say he's Medivh's apprentice? I can't believe Universal dumbed down the plot because they thought audiences were too retarded to understand all the moving parts, yet they thought that the average moviegoer has heard the word "Novitiate" before.
I have basically no complaints about the orcs, other than that they were hard to understand at times, and Orgrim should've been a Blackrock, not a Frostwolf.
