Shadowlands would've been a better expansion had I not had a dark cloud of the "wrong choice of covenant" looming over my head.

I really, really like Venthyr... as my transmog at the time was a Legion lock set, the red and grays worked great.... but everytime I would open a class guide for Destro Warlock, I was told I was making the wrong choice.

Even when I coped and claimed that the choice was insignificant and only a slight dps boost.. I still felt like I was doing the wrong thing.

Also it was literally FOMO: The Expansion. Every covenant was tied to a rep grind and even worse, an anima grind that's still bad to this day. Each covenant has its own myriad of rewards and it's own events have their own rewards, or maybe just the Venthyr have that party slop that was WEEKLY time gated.

I never even did the Maw but in revisting it, one of the modes goes on for what feels like forever...

I had recently returned to Shadowlands to acquire tmog and mounts, which I never finished the Venthyr or their anima upgrade system.

On my alts, you like can't get into the story? It's really confusing. Like how do you engage with the Shadowlands story when you're revisting the expansion on an alt?

If you choose to skip the opening quest line, you're kind of just lost and given world quests for every zone.

But what about the main quest lines like after you do your introductory tour of Bastion > Maldraxxus > Faggotland > Venthyr?

Where is the main story?

It feels like they managed to hide it or delete it entirely from the game. When I chose venthyr it felt as if after I unlocked world quests and what have you, there was a whole long story spanning over the entirety of the Revendreth zone....maybe that's because it was a prelude to the raid tier?

Even with current videos dating back only a year... I am still puzzled on how the fuck to reengage with shadowlands content in the current year.

The Jailor may be the biggest letdown nothingburger ever, aside from Argus.

Skyfury is really good. You get lust, decurse, good dps, poison totem (trivializes one weekly affix), ankh is useful, offheals are decent, bunch of root / stun / etc totems. It’s probably the most complete melee package together with feral, but boomkin tends to dominate feral harder than ele does enh

I went Necrolord on my VDH at the time cause I wanted the rewards and I could not care about the faeries or boring blue angels being better

This is just WoW in general, but it did feel (and still does) feel over the top. Since Legion, really.

Been revisiting Shadowlands on alts, and it's definitely annoying wanting a specific thing and having to switch. But they do have that vendor (the only one I know of is near the flight master in Oribos) that allows you to insta boost to 60. Anima is still a shit grind though.

I paid attention to the overarching story when I first played it, and you can still not skip it. But personally I take the skip to World Quests and just do the covenant campaigns. About every other quest gives a Renown upgrade so that + boost helps.
Doing a covenants campaign, then running another to fill in the gaps is what I've been doing.

Dont play much rogue nowadays but iirc in the past, the issue at least for me was always outlaw was the weird haste prio rogue spec where as if you had mastery/crit or mastery vers, going from ass to sub was easy enough.

I think where I'm lost is like, how do you start the covenant campaign. I know when you go to Oribos, you can skip everything by talking to Greymane or his replacement in the covenant hall. I think the issue is, once you do that... there's no quest at all lol.

How I did was choosing Shadowlands via Chromie, after porting to Oribos its gonna force you through the introductory bullshit- deal with that, then once everyone groups up you get the choice of pre covenant story skip.
I take that myself, covenants show up in their spots. Talk to whoever you wanna go with, they'll give you the starter campaign quest. Then I just followed the in game journal and WoWhead if I'm lost though that only happened trying to find a specific NPC during a few quests.
As previously mentioned, I also recommend going to the NPC near the flight master and buying the Covenant boost to 60 before flying off. You can buy 4 and use them after switching covenants before questing, it won't affect the campaign at all.
Towards the end of the campaigns they'll all eventually merge into Korthia, Maw, Zenith Mortis, etc. and if you're leveling you should be near 70 by then. You could continue on the same toon doing the other campaigns or do them on an another alt.

I love doing delves as enCHADment(stormbringer) with Brann as tank. He takes all the damage and I heal him while pumping by dumping instant heals on him plus I give him an earth shield. I'm drae too so I can just feed him my racial. Sometimes I let him die and just drop an Earthbind and kite if necessary. I don't even bother doing things like splitting pulls with Hex. Brann just makes it way too easy. This truly is a shaman expansion. :)

There is a limit to easiness (and M+ designed to avoid being too easy out of scaling ad nauseam, if a +10 is easy, you can just keep going until +20), but anon is right about affixes, they really, really make some dungeons incredibly hard or straight up impossible compared to the current end game affix of "just bigger number" where the best way to out skill it is mostly playing well and picking a better class as the reality is that you aren't "out skilling" a mob autos hitting for 5m or a random group AoE slapping out 20m+ damage, compared to doing strange pulls to "outskill" sanguine, being super good at circle kitting to cuck sanguine, moving in coordination to avoid quaking, doing specific routes/skips for the BFA totems, etc... to the point it might as well not exist at all.

Also, 4chan, most people screeching how 3k is "le easy" are also hard stuck at <2k and similar malding and trying to deride people much, much better than them, seriously look at Nerub of Globofomo that is the average poster here, the grand majority is incredibly fucking bad at wow and has a massive chip on their shoulder about it.

I mained bear tank in SL S1. The main problem with that season was it was coming off an absolute banger of a season in BFA S4. Prideful made routing too restrictive (especially when compared to awakened) and prideful should have stopped scaling in health and damage at 20. By the time you made it to 22's and 23's your only real option was to commit every cd you had to prideful or invis skip it.

I liked the affixes. I never really thought any of them were that terrible. Bursting kinda sucked ass because I DON'T WANT TO STOP DPS but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed m+ during SL and DF. Don't get me wrong though .... I'm enjoying it very much right now too because there are more people playing so it's faster to find groups and you get greater diversity but I honestly wouldn't make it any easier. Where we are is a good baseline.

It's not gonna happen. The game simply plays too well, has been around for too long and is too relevant in the MMO space. It's like trying to surpass and replace McDonalds or Walmart.

I never did. I've been complaining about the nerfs since s2 of Dragonflight. Did thundering suck? Yes. Especially when you had to clear on a tank in a dungeon with cleaves. The reaction to it was over the top though. One bad seasonal and the entire community is demanding the removal of seasonal affixes. There were some truly great seasonal affixes, awakened, encrypted, shrouded but instead of demanding more of those they demanded the removal of all seasonals. Then they demanded the removal of all affixes. It's a matter of time, they will demand the removal of the timer next and demand a leaderboard instead. This is only going one way.

in xiv last expansion there was a big outcry against the "loss of midcore content." what's midcore? well, it's content that isn't so easy that you can just faceroll through it, but also doesn't require an organized team of highly optimized and efficient players.

i really hope that there's internal discussions going on about mythic raiding ,because to me it seems like a waste of resources
remove the mythic lockout, make it or add a 10 man, and let people bang their head against it if they so choose to
current mythic raiding has a huge barrier to entry for the average player because of its difficulty, but more importantly, the logistics behind. you need 20 people that always show up, consumes (tons of gold) and tons of time/fixed schedule
and you're right, it's been on a downward trend for some time now
and i'm sure that's the case with every other game that has ball busting difficulty

Your concerns are very valid because that's describing one of the two ways that this is going to go. Either it's going to go the way I described or is it going to go the way you described. But I'm very optimistic. The technology is already way above anything most people think it's capable of, it's just that you have to have a lot of money to do with it what new AI companies are doing with it.

The thing is though I don't think it's going to go badly because it would just be suicidal to let it go badly. You can't displace a massive amount of the workforce of robots and then just pretend like nothing happened. You can't create an unemployed underclass because then they would just burn everything down and within one day the grand automated semi-utopia would collapse immediately. With this technology we will either all rise together or we will all end up in hell together. Me personally I'm not going to let billionaires take everything for themselves and leave all the rest of us in the dirt. I'm just going to start sabotaging the grid along with all the other thousands of people who will do the same. Killing off a massive portion of humanity simply by denying them resources is not an option and I like to think that the people at the top with all the money know that and know how vulnerable they are. There are plenty of Luigi's out there just waiting for their chance to shoot their shot.

Unholy, I actually don't like the festering wounds and popping them mechanic that UH is built around because I find it hard to actually upkeep it especially in PVP. But I still find it fun because of the thematics and fantasy of being a plate wearing plague spreading necromancer. Also you get Rider of the Apocalypse, I prefer San'Layn twice over but I wish Blood got a horse too.

When there was a legitimate point to talk, they didn't respond.
When I was in the discord, even though I pleaded that I would behave and be communicative, they didn't care. Kemono shut down and just banned me.
