I agree with all of that but you would be naive to think that its going to happen or even possible.
The game has been out for over a year, theyre not removing key mechanics / moves from the game. The most youll see is tweaks to frames/move properties but thats all.

Don't think I've ever seen a fighting game patch so bad the only way to fix it would be to revert it completely. Which would never happen with the amount of work they put into it. It's sad because I genuinely think the sidestep buffs and some minor buffs and nerfs would have made this game quite good. I like the aggressive nature of 8. But this shit is absolutely inexcusably bad. I can't even believe they're this incompetent. It 100 percent has to be malicious intent at this point. I don’t get it from a game design perspective, this patch makes Nakatsu and Murray look like total amateurs who have less skill than smash bros modders. Why the fuck would you add 1500 changes in a SINGLE patch for a game that is considered unbalanced? With most being buffs no less. What a fucking failure, they shot themselves in the foot. If you make a few bad changes alteast its possible to roll it all back.

It is mind boggling. 1500 changes sounded amazing on paper because it SHOULD have been "fixed tracking on x move, nerfed chip on move by x amount, nerfed damage by x amount" etc.

But these retards really sat down and added 100's of new moves, removed oki, buffed a ton of shit, and then added a side step buffer as their "defensive patch". It's truly unbelievable.

I know for sure there were far less obnoxious characters in T6 than in T7.
For instance, I actually enjoyed playing vs Ling, Lei, Raven in T6.

I played pirated DR with friends on RPCS3 and actually had a blast. The biggest problem was netcode being full dogshit. Stepping in that game felt incredible, actually moving the character itself was tight and I've never felt so much control over my moves, not in 7 nor in 8. Combos aren't as flashy, yeah, breaking throws was pretty much impossible with me being a shitter, but otherwise the game felt good.
But still I would prefer fixed 8 which isn't happening or 7 with better sidestepping and more interactivity.

I think the window to break throws is like 6f tighter and you can't break both generics with a 1 or 2, you have to look at the hands as well.
There was no noticeable input delay for me in practice mode, but online it was there and a bit annoying, but I thought it was because of delay-based netcode rather than emulation. It might be that your CPU is a bit on a weaker side, RPCS3 is quite demanding.

Hwoarang has something like 150 to 200 moves, inside those there are maybe 50 animations that are recognizable and do not blend with others. ignoring the tuning of the game being totally fucked now, I don't understand how people were okay with the game even before release

The base roster was really good and some of the new redesigns like Lili looked really good, but otherwise I always thought it looked pretty bad.

As someone who plays SF6, GGST and Tekken 8 quite a lot, I've noticed a trend on /vg/ where any update or character spawns a flood of people posting negatively who clearly don't play the game. If the update/character actually sucks, this is diluted by people who do play and are just regular upset. But where do these obvious nonplayers come from?

Imo this is the exact same reason sf6 was allowed to take off. People were in complete denial about it being even worse than jive and everything they blamed on Ono, they HAD to believe it was better after all those years sunk waiting for the next big SF game where everything would finally be resolved.

The patch itself is fairly average for Tekken standards. A number of obviously too strong moves have been added, a bunch of numbers shuffled around. Nothing outrageous. Shitposters and doomers aside, the reason people are upset is because Tekken 8 offense is extremely oppressive, and we were promised a patch to alleviate this. Instead we got this mediocre nothing patch.

This trajectory was obvious from the moment they explained the heat system at TWT finals 2022. I'm bewildered by the shock and surprise at S2, and even more at people pleading Murray to "fix" it. What is there to fix? This hasn't been Tekken from the beginning, the patch is exactly in line with the game's design philosophy.

When a normal person sees a horrifically designed move we recoil, feel upset at the ugliness of its design, the stupidity of the thought process behind it, we reevaluate our decision to play the game. A competitor can see it without judgement, if he can't comprehend the design flaws they don't deter him. He doesn't care that he's not having fun, he treats it as a job anyway. Its an obstacle to overcome and nothing more.

It isn't that deep but the same way you can teach a monkey to identify signs to communicate words, is the same way most people operate and understand things.

Pro players in every game only know the best ways to win and advocate for that, and anything that diverges from that is irrelevant to them. Other people just gauge the quality of a game by how much "fun" they're having, whether it's "winning" or just how powerful they feel during the game.
So, if you have these type of people who both can't judge games on a macro level with a fundamental and objective comprehension and reasoning or at least a somewhat educated understanding of pvp game mechanics or "how a multiplayer game should be"; you get modern pvp games that just suck ass and the discourse around it basically being monkeys flinging shit at each other.
This isn't exclusive to Tekken though.
