Really? I can only think of demon flip throw being taken away, maybe a super or two? But he has 3 supers so it's kinda irrelevant. I think the issue is that Akuma is doing what everyone in the game is already doing. Drive rushing at you, forcing you to guess how to check him, immediately getting you in the corner and then making you guess for your life. Everyone does that so even akuma doesnt feel unique

I am once again asking for Capcom to buff drive reversal.
>Make it fast enough to hit a crMK xx DRC > jab if you activate it right as they activate drive rush, rewarding good defensive reactions
>Make it -3 on block so you're still rewarded for baiting it, but the defender doesn't die if you bait it
>Make it lose to neutral jump which also has counterplay because your opponent can just AA your drive reversal bait if they don't commit
>A drive reversal in response to blocking your opponent's drive reversal leads to a knockdown, and both players being down 2 drive bars and back to neutral/corner oki
This solves the big three issues of FB DR, throw loops, and crMK DRC with a change to a single mechanic, and will lead to neutral having to be navigated rather than skipped.

sf6 in NA has less players than tekken 8 has in EU prime time.
sf6 has 5k players during NA prime and tekken 8 has 7k at EU prime.
it's all just japs now, because capcom catered the game to casual japs and it worked

I don't care what brolylegs used or if he could do motions or not. I simply find it far more fun going with Modern and using motions as little as possible, and my recent dive into COTW really drove that home to me.

COTW has a Modern mode but it's shit so you're pretty much forced to play the technical scheme and it took me 2-3 hours of training room drilling for 2 days before I finally grokked my routes good enough to not drop them constantly. In that time of boring lab grinding to learn a character, I could've taken a brand new character to master with Modern in SF6 and had a blast doing it. So could I play Classic, sure. But why I would use something that would decrease my fun if I don't have to????

Luke players are hyper retarded because they all look up to Noah but I really feel like he could be the most defensive shoto in the game. His buttons are fucking ridiculous, his crouch heavy might as well be JP level, he's got a poor man's Demon Flip which is still a free corner escape if you use it sparingly, his fireball is a solid projectile, and his level 1 is actually applicable in a lot of strange situations including blowing up fireball DR or jump back attempts

now that i think about sf always had a bit of a roster problem in the sense that most of the new characters they made in every game didn't stick. the only one to survive sf4 was juri and seth for the most part. if you look at other fighting games like tekken their newcomers are far more successful hwoarang jin and xiaoyu all came in the 3rd game and stuck around as staples. i dont think any of the newcomers in sf6 will survive into sf7

That was the sentiment back then too. SF4 is a dishonest game full of gimmicks, SF5 is gonna come out and save us. Wiggling back and forth was something that happened on some matchups, which is why 09rs will always link that one Valle vs Daigo Ryu match to prove SF4 had footsies. Meanwhile your average match was not against honest Ryus most of the time. But nostalgia will make people of only the good matches while thinking the current game runed everything and the next game/patch will solve everything. SF5 was also not the wiggling webms people post here, you would play online and have to deal with things like Mika and Abigail while thinking of how much better things were in SF4 and how SF6 was gonna solve everything.

So the entire meta of the game was different kinds of players doing different things to see who will come out on top. You'd see many different playstyles live and die and being defensive and patient was usually a powerful strategy, but not the only strategy.
Nowadays, you must only do what capcom tells you to do, and you must use your government mandated party mechanic to do anything thats even a little creative, and ONLY in the pre-approved party zones with your free meter you get every round.

the bottom line is SF4 and SF5 are games where you "can't do anything". If you're bad, you don't get to play, you just get raped in the corner. That's why people have such negative memories associated with the game. The worst feeling you can get in Street Fighter 6 is getting throw looped, and your brain will just think you were unlucky (which is true) so it doesn't hurt as bad. When you get destroyed in an old game, its simply because you're worse at it. That's the eternal truth of fighting games that takes people their entire lives to accept.

They'll use this mentality to defend street fighter 6 (just adapt, every game has new mechanics, get good) but then they'll fall victim to these thoughts when shitting on the old games. Its not even about being good, I am not good at fighting games, but I have fun trading blows and doing my best, and I know my limits. I don't want the game to give me free wins.

sf5 had huge issues but managed to stay viable through big DLC support and constant base game sales...capcom isn't willing to do that anymore.

In casual sf4, both players treat it like street fighter 2. There were dozens of interactions each round and every fundamental was relavent in a small form. You could space the opponent, anti air them, fireball spam, etc.
In street fighter 6, capcom gave casuals 50% combos with no effort. Everyone has an armored nigh unstoppable safe on block half screen attack that gives you a free combo if the opponent did ANYTHING. Everyone can neutral chip damage. Everyone can fly across the screen instantly. And modern users do not even have to know how to anti air or input supers or know how to do combos. This reduces the number of interactions and deletes fundamentals, so you can't learn the fundies. You have to skip straight to like level ten to be able to neutralize the level 2 modern users because they will still rape you when you're levels 2-9.

If everyone had been honest from the beginning Capcom would've realized their mistakes and could have course corrected, but anyone who pointed out the flaws got shouted down and told that they needed to support the game and Capcom would just fix the flaws later, but Capcom had no reason to because as far as they knew everyone loved the game.

The online was so bad that it was a completely different game offline. This was a huge part of the discourse around the game, how you weren't actually playing the game unless you had locals. This is another issue, online warriors have nostalgia for a completely different game than the pros.
