Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer (1v4) horror game where one player takes on the role of the Killer and four players take on the role of the Survivors. Setting and placing portals is so slow, if you need a portal across the map you have to go there. Fingernails mean you can get where you want pretty quick long as there's one tv on in that quarter of the map. Dash is nice and all but good survivors can dodge it and it's very telegraphed. Not like it gives you free hits, just makes survivors play different. Intermittent invisibility turns a lot of short loops into 50/50s survivors have to take which I feel catches good survivors more often than a lot of chase powers. Sadako's mobility is just unrivaled and lets you do things like "okay i got a pallet out of this chase no more need to commit" and then go to a gen you know they'll be on. Plus the most important advantage, the tapes chore. Survivors MUST do tapes or they die, that plus totems with thrill means a lot of time off gens. That's why I call the build "Choredako."

I mean aren't the rumours that originally there were supposed to be 4 killers. With Autohaven supposed to be the map for this killer and that backstory was his backstory. But they didn't have enough time for him.

Swamp was also supposedly being made at the time but wasn't ready and that was supposed to be Wraith's map. But it was also unfinished. So they took the finished map they already had (autohaven) and finished killer they already had (wraith) and just combined the two and gave Wraith the OG autohaven killer's lore.

you mean perks? you have to play other killers to unlock them. every killer has 3 pers, you level them up to unlock them for each killer. so if you want Leatherface's BBQ and Chili perk you need to level him 50 times to unlock it for Nurse (and all other killers)

went up against a Deathslinger on The Game. He was repeatedly slugging so me and my friend decided to try to hide until the game timed out. After 10 minutes of hiding Deathslinger walked past me while I was in a locker, then moonwalked back to look at me and shook his head.

How would he know I was in the locker? he had no aura reading. I wasn't injured. he said he heard my breathing because "good headphones" . As killer can you really hear the breathing of a health survivor if you turn your volume all the way up?

By being at full hp, while the unhooked survivor runs away then the killer goes after you and once he hits you then he sees how much distance you make into some god pallet zone and it usually ends up in him preferring to patrol some gens or look for people healing. People really don't expect this perk and makes them give up a lot of times and get annoyed because of it's value. Not to mention it's really forgiving when you run into a killer like a tard (like I do). I could always just use sprint burst and use it as killer is about to get close to me but I really hate to see how much it takes for it to lose the exhaust effect. not using it without vigil.

because trade means that you get downed in exchange for another survive to get out before hitting 2nd or death hook stage. Overcome allows you for good distance just try the perk yourself you don't have to like it

I wanted to give marvel rivals a chance but it looks so soulless and sterile. One thing about DBD is that its one of the few multiplayer games that actually nailed down the art direction and most maps actually give you the illusion that you're in a horror movie/setting from different subgenres and eras (besides Toba Landing which is ugly asf) and most original killer designs are soulful too (besides skull merchant, knight and Houndmaster)

It depends on the killer. Killers with setup time or who tend to struggle to get downs early on will benefit from Corrupt Intervention, but it's not so good on something like Hillbilly who could get a down very quickly. Surge is only good if you get downs with basic attacks. Pop goes the weasel is good if you have the mobility to contest a nearly finished generator. Pain resonance is great on anything. Deadlock is good on anyone.

it's not bad with Pentimento and some other hexes because if it doesn't get cleansed right away you can still get some early-mid game value off of it, and when other hexes get cleansed you can swap to Penti for even more slowdown/side objectives. but without Penti hex builds are pretty worthless in this

i think hexes work better with killers that already have some kind of side objective because it really taxes the survivors on side quests to keep them off gens or they get punished. this newfriend is playing Nurse though so he'd be better off with perks like Surge and Pain Res which reward chasing which is what she's good at. but he also seems determined to do his own thing which is fine, he can play and see how it works.

if anyone cares, i tested 10 afk matches with deadlock and 10 matches without on the same map and deadlock adds a median of 47 seconds to a round if you do absolutely nothing
so now you can look at other slowdown perks and see if you get at least 47 seconds of value from them when deciding

Theres no reason why killers can’t have exhaustion perks. Lithe and balanced landing could easily work on killer and not be op and still fun to play against. Maybe have killers gain exhaustion that stays indefinitely until a gen gets completed

I don't. Family guy of dbd youtubers. Every single survivor youtube channel looks precisely like his with slight alterations but the idea is a straight copy. It's all about very low mmr "tense" "outplays".
Only zubat is worth watching because he actually plays at whatever mmr he's got and fucks up a lot.

what's the solution for the "go next" epidemic? it doesn't matter how kindly i play, in over half my matches someone throws a hissy fit and follows me around begging to die. it's terribly evil.
i suggested, at one point prior to being banned from the forums, re-incentivizing bloodpoints. back when BBQ and WGLF gave a bonus for using it people were more inclined to play differently.
but for most people, bloodpoints are now worthless. there's no incentive to dump points into any character beyond their initial rewards. there's no longer any reason to play beyond the meager rift rewards, most of which are worthless.
veteran players are playing out of habit and new players are pushed out because of how complex and stifling the game has become to play.
so what do you guys suggest?

Show me the evidence that people are leaving in half your matches, or from anyone's matches. I don't believe this shit is actually a problem unless you're a 10k hour nurse player who consistently gets their first down within 20 seconds of the match starting, in which case I understand why they DC on you.

The people who point it out as a problem are the aforementioned 10,000 hour killers like Rat Jund and Shitzdarva. It's a problem for 1% of the playerbase, if that. The only reason the devs are bothering to do something about it now is that the streamers are riling up their fanbases to get upset about a problem that the average player doesn't even experience.

I have 2,400, so a bit less than you, but when I play killer I have a survivor DC or give up in my matches maybe once out of every 10. And inevitably the reason why they gave up is because I got lucky (or you can call it "skill") and got a really easy down on them at 4 or 5 gens. It doesn't happen often because I'm not good enough at killer to get really fast and easy downs all the time. When I play survivor DCs are incredibly infrequent, maybe 1 in 20 matches or even fewer, because I rarely play survivor and my MMR is so low that I don't get matched against killers who are capable of getting fast downs either.

The people who experience really frequent DCs are the people who are too good at the game to be matched against everyone else. But because they're disproportionately streamers, they will cry and shit their pants if BHVR makes the matchmaking stricter. So realistically there is no fix, because the alternative is nuking the entire killer role to the point that the extremely good killers can still win a moderate amount of the time, but everyone else auto-loses.

I dont really understand how people enjoy or gitgud with prediction based skillshot killers like pyramid, unknown, slinger etc. It just feels like blind guesses weighted against you since the survivor can just see where you're aiming unless you're some 1800000 dpi flick god.

Like I said I think the easiest way to fix it would be to provide incentives as opposed to penalties. Reverting the pip system would be a start. For as many problems as it had, it did encourage playing for the team or rotating targets.
Excepting red rank play, I guess. I used to hang around purple deliberately since the most interesting people played in that range.

You're right, most killers have to hit a survivor, then have absolutely nothing to do other than hold W for 20 seconds, and then once you get to the next loop either you mindgame it perfectly or you just lost the match because breaking the pallet and having to reset at the next loop in 20 more seconds is an automatic loss

The solution, if mindgaming fails, is to try to force survivors a certain direction when you break the pallet. With how dogshit map RNG is though they usually have a billion fillers to work with anyway and they can chain to safety relatively quick either way.
That is a reliable way to cut down chase time against most survivors though.

I played once a year or so ago for the first time for like 100 hours on a single killer and tried to swap over to another and got slaughtered every game due to elo differences and lack of skill on the new one. If I come back now, will my actual (non-grade) elo have reset from inactivity or do I just have to lose 50 times straight every time I want to learn something new/take a break from the game until I finally git gud?

What inexperienced killers need to understand is that survivors don't have much incentive to give a killer free hooks if the survivor team stomped the killer. Survivors still need to look out for NOED, No Way Out, Rancor, or Blood Warden. Sometimes being a dumb killer can be seen as a strategy that survivors are trying to counter. Survivors needs to escape every match or else they get queued with bad teammates. A killer benefits more from losing than winning.

I think that the game is in perfect state as of now and the only two reasons why it would be bad is if your teammates don't do the objective/killer is cheating and hitboxes being stupid.

I have a HD800s which are the ultimate headphones for soundstage, and Stridor is trash. I would rather play Spirit vs 4 survivors with Iron Will than have Stridor. It completely ruins imaging and you have no idea how far someone is from you because how it works is that you go from maximum moan volume to nothing with no fade. Today after 3 years of not playing dbd I decided to finally play my favourite killer Blight. As you might expect my skills were a bit rusty. In my second match I managed to do a 4k. There was one survivor with a flashlight who used it from the wrong angle every single time they had the opportunity to blind me. After the match I wrote the “GG” in the chat as I always do to which the salty flashlight survivor responds by calling me a trash because they couldn’t blind me. good game sense and good skill expression. but also don't get tilted when map RNG favors survivors. The game isn't all about skill. Good survivors constantly study ways to work each tile. Certain killers like huntress, trickster, deathslinger can learn about each tile's hitbox to land skill shots that the survivor may not be aware of. Who knows.... there might be a little gap between rocks that survivors don't know that you can take advantage of :)
