Yeah using cav against spearmen is obviously dumb so I never use it like that, but they seem near unstoppable when flanking swordmanii. Also Ninurta got the royal chariot and he just became Settra.

Yes. All the problems with current Warhammer are due to it flopping. CA thought they would make bank on it and then release Warhammer on a new engine. That didn't work out and Warhammer 1 ended up being quite literally a conversion mod for Attila. Every single mechanic in it was a reskin of Atilla. They share the same bugs to this day.

Uh, these anons keep using sentence fragments, which aren't real English. The use of greater-than signs as a mechanical device is not proper English. If it were real English, it would need to be reworded. I've provided an example below.

I was in my most recent foray into the digital battlefields of the "Total War" franchise, particularly the entry "Warhammer 3." A battle in this virtual real-time saw my units receive enough damage that further casualties would result in permanent disbandment. Instead of wasting the investment put into these soldiers, I ordered a withdrawal of these particular forces, which would not only save them from disbanding but permit additional units to enter the battlefield.
It came to my great surprise and displeasure when the AI driving the decision-making processes of these units took the order to retreat as cause to route said units to the opposing side of the battlefield to carry out the withdrawal.
This turn of events was such a nuisance that I suggested to the Total War community that I should leave future units to perish in the throes of battle instead of attempting to save them.

That's like every studio nowadays, even considering most are running on temp hires -> crunch time -> release -> layoff -> repeat. Actually I'll amend that statement to say "that's like every studio for the last 20 years". Sometimes they don't even get the bad game released, ie Westwood, Monolith, Ensemble, the KSP2 devs, Visceral, Troika, etc. etc. CA has survived several underperforming(to say the least, in Hyenas case) games. That sort of retard strength only comes with a brand like Bioware, DICE, or Blizzard

Chinks have uppity attitude where they absolutely refuse to listen to instructions (or get mad), then keep faceplanting constantly because they just cant understand forests have roots you can trip on. Archeon and Be'lakor are so fucking retarded. Both in lore and IRL. They supposedly hate the four major Chaos gods but mainly only end up fighting Order factions. I know they don't have the rights to Malal anymore, but the fact that they're allowed to borrow the powers and demons of the four is dumb. I also hate that they're trying this shit with Abaddon in 40k too.

Because Kossars are so insane that you don't want to bring anything else, other factions have some incentive to diversify, Empire infantry is shit so you want more missiles, cavalry and artillery, Cathay mobility sucks so you want more cavalry and flying monsters, Bretonnia has a different knight for every type of enemy (chaff, elite, monsterous, flying etc), Kislev has a single unit that performs every single role as well or better than the unit in the roster actually designed for it and the ONE(1) time that wasn't the case(Kislevite Warriors) they nerfed them into T1 so you still have to spam Kossars.

My mistake here.
"The Scions of Mathlaan" and "The Storm Riders" (both from Uniform & Heraldy) are already used in game (as RoR).
The unit I wanted to use actually was "The Spears of Dabbarloc" named Lothern Sea Guard (from End Time), they could be an elite version of them (like Silverin are for Spearmen).

How are you finding the agent spam? It was weird for me going back to Shogun 2 after complaining about agents in Warhammer only to find them worse in Shogun 2 because the map is so small at any time you can have any faction shooting them at you. Inciting rebellions, sniping your lords, disabling your agents, etc. No matter how many you kill or how high your agents are one fucker always gets lucky and you just face and endless conga line of them. It's not fun, if that's what you're asking. I was unpleasantly surprised finding out the AI can bribe your daimyo whereas the player cannot.
It's just an endless tide of agents, I find the only way to deal with them is to always have the maximum amount of agents available, and always focusing on counter agent talents. That and not fighting too many factions. Which of course makes realm divide a bigger pain than it ought to be.
Although for me the worst offender in the game has to be ships, and how the AI shits out ridiculous amounts of them, raiding your trade routes, blocking ports, and having fleets with armies if you let them be.
And the autoresolve is extremely unfair, even with a superior force and advantageous AR bar. Auto resolving and winning with a superior force can easily leave you with less ships left than the enemy after it, so if you win once, or twice, the enemy fleet can still win by AR on the 3rd consecutive battle.

It actually killed my enthusiasm on replay because around midgame you(and especially without Realm Divide modded) get so tired of shit the campaign rather than become a war of survival becomes whack a mole with agents, rebellions, and fleets as you just piecemeal take factions down and bumrush finishing it. Not out of boredom like Warhammer, but because it's a chore. It really is the worst endgame of a TW that comes to mind, I think the only thing that comes close is Attila's Hun stacks

Haven't played a campaign for a while so I'm autistically finishing this one, and it really is exhausting.
I only have one mod downloaded, "improved" diplomacy or whatever it's called. Despite that I haven't had more than a couple of turns of peace, it's always war declaration one after the other regardless of treaties and marriages etc, forcing me to expand at an exponential pace. At least it turned out to be profitable with factions declaring war with me, me destroying an army or two, and then offering peace and forcing them to pay an exorbitant sum in compensation. They have endless coffers, too of course, and wont hesitate to declare war again after a few turns.
I'm also less of a fan of the slim roster than I remember being. "Niche" units like no-dachi (even katana samurai)/bow&katana cav and ninjas never feeling necessary or worthwhile investing in over the basic yari/naginata and ashigaru spam, and the tech tree takes too long to get to the fun and unique stuff without you bee-lining for it for way too many turns.
Overall it was fun for a while but quickly devolved into mindless completionism beyond the usual TW experience, like you say. Wish I started a Hattori campaign and tried out Hanzos shadows.
Considering launching a FotS campaign after this, at least armstrong artillery and ship bombardments rarely get boring even in the long run. Maybe I should have launched a Shogunate faction campaign in FotS to get the best of both worlds..

We can only imagine his smirk as Grace discovered Sun Ren with knockers larger than the rice portions of entire villages, knowing his mission was fulfilled.

Anyone else having some serious lag with the Total War launcher lately? It's like its running at 1 frame per 2 seconds. Mouse clicks don't register for like 2 seconds and it's impossible to scroll without it shooting somewhere I didn't want to be.
It's fine once in game. Just the launcher seems to be fucked.

Grimgor is actually my favorite greenskins campaign (for now) (not actually that clear since I'm only comparing with Azhag and Gorbad, I still have to try out Grom, Skarsnik and Wurrzag). But still I fucking loved his focus on buffing the shit out of blorcs and doing maximum pile of violence with him not being some ultrapowerful tanklord spellcaster of doom but rather just being da best at what he does.

I didn't really like Gorbad. His plans are just not worth it. Not even because they're not "autodelete whole factions with minimum effort" way, it's that they're fucking sad buffs. Need to spend 80 turns on unlocking one plan that makes goblins get slightly more MA and weapon damage. Ok. Or 40 turns to make river trolls lower MA by 8 instead of 4. Wow. And the funny thing is, all these plans require to basically use the stack you want to use that plan on BEFORE unlocking the plan. By the time you can finally pull off what you were intending to do, you've been using that stack for eternity already.

You put 4-6 of them at the beack of your gunline. Glaive version is antilarge so they protect your back against enemy flankers (cav or flyers).
They provide extra slowing effect so your guns has more time to shoot.

It's very simple anon. Early game you get a triple line of checkered armored kossars with a third line of normal kossars. Then late game you get a triple line of tzar guard checkered with streltsi and ice guard (glaives) in the back. The ice guard are good because of the aring fire and slow effect and they're also your antilarge so them standing in the back and sides is even better.

Lore of life wizard is literally all you ever need.
It has great damage, great defensive buffs, and heals. The only scenario where youd want Shadow over Life is if you fihgt nothing but super high armor units and have 0 monstrous units, no heroes and no melee lord.
Shadow is the cuck lore given as a pity to factions that otherwise have garbage like Death and Slaneesh. (Death is ok as spirit leech spammer but as a whole its pretty shitty lore)

You wait and let the cav get engaged with something and then send the horrors in, in my experience that always works better. Or pair them with a terror causing unit (melee hero or lord with terrifying mask of eeee works great), routing units don't fight back. They also work fine against low tier melee infantry (not spears) or most archers too if they're not getting shot at by other units, don't feel like a bonus vs large means they shouldn't be used for other foes, big uns have that too but can wreck greatswords. 1 or 2 units of them is all I can usually spare enough attention for, to micro.

So at the very least that would mean Vampire Counts, Slaanesh, Norsca, 2 dragon siblings as their legally binding contract says, and one Empire dlc that they have all officially confirmed since Thrones of Decay. Thanquol was only promised twice since Warhammer 3 started so they can throw away that promise. Boris only got confirmed as still coming last month so they probably have to keep that one too. Could drop Red Duke alongside Thanquol if they don't want to keep promises.

I still think it's uber lame the way Skaven are just settlements with a tacked on early trial of the cult system. No Under-Empire or network of outposts leading to Skaven hubs, just settlements. I'm not hoping for a rework this late into the dev cycle but I feel like had they been more adventurous with the mechanics to boot we wouldn't end up with rework after rework being necessary to give the races depth

in this campaign AI Boris went to way with whichever nurgle faggot starts in the forest of decay really early and wiped him out. as a result he's been able to have his back to a wall (malus who is too busy to declare war on him) while he fights off daniel and archaon. this has allowed him to live to turn 40, the longest i've seen. he's doing well with 5 settlements and slowly winning against daniel. unfortunately, this means his fat hairy ass won't confederate with me.

I don't like Rome 2. Rome 2 is just bad. The battles suck because unit rosters are bland and terribly designed but the campaign management aspects are brainless. It's mostly fawned over by people who absolutely love the rome setting and the fantasy of it and don't particularly care about anything else.

TOW is considered a specialist game, and the specialist game studio team usually puts out high quality stuff. The new models for TOW have been pretty hit or miss, but the hits have been great and on par with other specialist game models recently. Regular warhammer team does 40k and AoS and they don't usually do as well a job. TOW lucked out even if it resulted in such a small production scale.

For me atleast it's because any attempt to establish Cathay and Kislev can only be a good thing, for example, Cathay is no longer CA donutsteel but a fully fledged faction with an army book and a range of models and hopefully GW are hard at work making more models, lore and characters so that the game and CA get more content that it can draw from. I look forward to seeing Kislev. I don't care about /tg/tranny stuff like the model designs or gameplay rules, I only care about it as it pertains to TWH

The Yellow dragon on the left is holding the element of fire and is shown leading the armies of Cathay. Li Dao is the grand general of the Cathayan army. Andy Hall's interviews say otherwise. They made 8th edition rosters for both and gave them to CA. Andy turns the pages of the book for the Cathay one a lot in the interview. GW created the book just for them under the condition that they added the five main siblings as playable legendary lords.

That's one thing which annoys me about Cathay. The whole dragon family thing just makes me think of the Imperium and Primarchs in 40k, which feels lazy. I'm fine with a single, aloof and esoteric dragon emperor but what about a larger ruling caste of dragons who aren't just his handful of children. I know the shugengan kind of fill that role as like Cathayan mulatto's but it feels like there should be more than 5 cathayan dragons in the nation.

You are in luck. There are 8 known living siblings. Besides the main 5 there is Shen-Zoo the youngest daughter and another unnamed son and daughter. The eldest child is dead though and she ferries all the souls of dead Cathayan people to the afterlife.
