simple truth is that a very long time ago bombers were ridiculously strong and could end matches in a few minutes
the first attempt to counter this was retarded repair costs (B-29/Tu-4 were +50k iirc) but that didnt have the desired effect
so gaijin made them stupidly fragile, nerfed gunners into uselessness, slashed the ticket value of bases, and gave every other bombtruck spawns halfway down the map so you'd be forced to be even less useful to the team by flying around or climbing (virtually impossible with most large bombers given their pedestrian speeds and almost negative climb rates)
effectively what they've done is make (large) bombers completely useless because that was easier than trying to make fit into the overall WT gameplay

It would only be slightly better than the F-117 in ARB/Sim EC since it's still entirely defenseless but can at least carry more than a pair of bombs but it'd be WORSE in GRB/GSB since it can't track moving targets.

I was having fun earlier in my AMX M4 just shooting King Tigers in the side ammorack as they drove past the building I was hiding behind, one at a time. The biggest airframe change they made was going from Emil to Frank models. F had the coveted nose mounted cannon, better intake scoop that excluded slow boundary layer air, smaller wings (if i remember correctly), bigger oil cooler and just more powerful engine better aero.

It's the heaviest Corsair and only starts becoming somewhat useful as a fighter once you've ditched your payload. Spawn when the air is clear and make sure you know how to drop your bombs by practising it a bit in a custom match.

K-4 airframe is basically same as F-4 with a lot of small upgrades. It has the G model rear bulletproof glass, new canopy for better visibility, 30mm mk108 cannon, MW50 water injection that cooled air for the supercharger (+100hp) and also acted as octane booster that allowed extra manifold pressure (+400hp), reinforced wing spars (if i remember correctly), even better aero than Gustav with fully enclosed gear, wider wheels. Some of those upgrades could be retrofitted to G models (MW50, MK108, GM-1).

This would make more sense when we had historical match making, but that's not the case now. US will play with china, soviets and sweeds one battle and french, italian, and germans the next. Plenty of times you're one of maybe 2 of a nation on one team. This game can have a quarter of a million people playing it. An algorithm isn't going to have difficulty with that amount of people and even more so when they refuse to decompress the BR system.

A turret with a 20mm was installed behind the upper wing and a fixed forward firing 20mm. Crew and engine jobs received armor protection. When used as a night bomber, the aircraft could carry twelve 50 kg of bombs in cassettes placed in the fuselage, under the lower planes were four holders for 100 kg of bombs or NAR blocks.
At the beginning of 1964, a modified An-2 with attack weapons was tested at the airfield of the Air Force Research Institute in Chkalovsky.
Rifle and bomb sights were installed on the plane, the armament included NAR UB-16-57 units and 100-250 kg bombs. BDZ-57KU beam holders were mounted on the An-2 for the suspension of weapons. In the porthole and skin of the cargo cabin were made devices for firing Kalashnikov rifles.

The first known case of combat use of the An-2 occurred in Indochina in 1962. During suchflights on the "cornfields" often fired from the ground. To suppress anti-aircraft fire on the An-2 began to hang blocks of 57-mm NAR S-5 and install machine guns in the doorways.

It is a well-known case when an An-2 group sank a warship of the Navy of South Vietnam (corvette or frigate according to modern classification) in a night combat flight with the help of NURS and damaged a landing ship of the South Vietnamese Navy. The Vietnamese An-2 acted against armed boats and junks, which were attacked by American and South Vietnamese sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

The An-2 struck at the Khmer Rouge. They were most often used as advanced air raiders. Pilots of the An-2, finding the target, "processed" it with bombs and NURS. Interestingly, for air strikes in Cambodia on the "Khmer Rouge", along with low-speed An-2, the F-5 fighters and A-37 attack aircraft made in the United States were used.

Several Sandinista agricultural planes were equipped with containers to hold 100 kg of air bombs. As such, the planes were used to bomb CIA-backed "contra" units.

I installed this game a few days ago and I am trying to figure out how repair works (not repair on the airfield, repair on the menu).
So far what I get is that all planes have a default repair rate that is extremely slow, but you can assign the plane to a crew that will then get to work repairing it in real time as long as that crew has that vehicle active.
So what exactly is considered active? Only what I'm looking at? If I get planes from multiple nations, do my Germans repair their German planes while I play the Russians?
Or do the Germans go to sleep the moment I click on the Russian tab?
Also playing ground while air repairs doesn't seem to work unless I specifically assign the plane I want repaired to a crew on the ground tab.
I'm not actually interested in playing ground so I'm not that enthusiastic about this anyway.
Are there any other tricks to take note of?

There are two Air trees you MUST complete before considering any others: US and USSR. Between the two of them, they grant you access to 80% of all airframes and weapon systems in the game while having ZERO overlap. Every other nation is at least partially comprised of American and/or Soviet planes and none of them come even remotely close to the amount of unique airframes found in those two trees. Now that the Su-30SM is in the game and the USSR isn't gimped by artificially nerfed FMs (the MiG-29s still are but they aren't especially relevant anymore anyway) and inadequate counterparts, it's a genuinely great tree, not just for uniqueness but for gameplay-wise too.

Bongs are just gimped in various ways throughout their trees, USA is played by absolute window-lickers so you rarely get good matches even through their vehicles are great, Germany is similar to USA, moreso in the WW2 BR's, but carrying on until you get to about 10.3ish. China is OK, but your teammates cannot speak English. Israel just has shit vehicles on ground, AND you always get paired off with USA, so you essentially get shit teammates too.

I just sat and watched this T14 eat over a dozen panzer g/h/j/t/a/z shells, two nashhorn shells, a few t-34 irrelevant shells, at least 4 85mm D-5T shells, survive 3 bomb attempts, and was still alive at their spawn farming kills. Not only that hardly ever did he not kill a tank he shot. I don't know maaaaaan shit is just discouraging with the inconsistency this game offers. Last time I tried playing that the first panzer that saw me would always blow me up.

yes

With max repair you can just swap techtrees and play every plane for basically free as they get repaired in maybe an hour or what it takes to get through setup of 5 planes in different techtree. BUT this gonna work only as long as you play rank 2-3 planes. High rank vehicles will take as long as a week to repair with fully maxed crew skills + expert. Always buy an expert for the vehicles you actively use, it always gets paid off.

Also >>519219927 anon is right, repairs aren't that big of a deal, and repair cost isn't high enough to bankrupt you even on top tier.

What you should know, is that crashing into ground and suicide ram or AAA assisted suicide is always preferable to J-ing out. This way you get much lower repair cost no matter what you play. You should never J out unless you are fully stopped on the airfield.

Now about airfields, if you land without any damage you can leave your plane, then change loadout and get back into it if you have such need. This can be used to hide from enemies vulturing on landing strips. If you are maxxing reload instead of repair, you will be able to reload and then take off without refueling, this way you gonna be several hundred kilos lighter than your opponents which also can be used for advantage.

You will never get into negative SL balance after a match in arcade unless you are literally afk botting. And even in realistic mode as long as you get about 1 kill per game e.g. maintain your k/d ratio roughly higher than 1 you will be mostly net positive in your income.

Arcade gives more crew skill points and more silver, Realistic gives more RP but less silver. That means with arcade you gonna have millions of excessive SL and nothing to spend them on because new planes are locked behind the grind, while with realistic you gonna unlock every plane and its modifications faster (given you know what you're doing) while having juust enough SL to buy them or not having even that.

This airfield stuff is relevant to arcade too. As long as you have no damage and fully stopped (so repair/reload timers starts to show up) you can J out and leave aircraft after capturing airfield without penalty and escape the opponents who's about to strafe you.

It used to be relevant years ago when devs tried to balance vehicles with economy. It didn't went so good so now economy is pretty pleasant. So pleasant that there is no actual incentive for anybody to be good. So when you see somebody on a premium vehicle you expect them to be a slacker and dead weight to their team. They have pretty much nothing to lose even when they crash on takeoff.

The peenix has a giant warhead so the lower you go, the harder you'll get fucked by the splash damage even if it multipaths into the ground below you. Technically you want to go as high within the multipath altitude as you can to negate that if you insist on not notching.

In that webm RALT is 25m, speed is 1325 TAS, missile goes not too high so it pulls lead very ahead and when it goes multipath it detonates way ahead of the aircraft. If missile were going from straight above some notching to the side could be used to negate the damage instead. But missile and its trajectory were visible from far before impact so there were no necessity for that.

I saw Bad Karma videos on top tier jets, and such "lucky" explosions were seen fairly frequently and I've learned to replicate such occasions.

France low tier grind has been pretty easy, idk, just got lucky with the rng I guess, also I love encountering T-28s it's such a piece of shit, any low tier APHE in the game over-pressures this thing, that 2.3 french bus with the spinning cupolas is extremely underrated though, it has like 10+ crew members and no one knows how to kill it properly, and the 75mm aphe just 1hits everything in 2.3

French low tier is pretty underrated, yeah 1.0 is tragic but 2.0+ is filled with gems

I'm trying to wrap my head around how 5 yes 5 (five) tanks can be next to an m24 and the m24 doesn't shoot a single one of them. Not a single one. Not even a fucking shot. Then he aims at me up on a hill nowhere near him or in any way a danger to him and then shoots me. Doesn't shoot the tank so close to him he could smell it's exhaust. Doesn't shoot the tank that's capture B. Nope. He shoots me.

you're mostly going to be going against 7.3 and 7.7 tanks that can obliterate you with a look

I am an Italian main, almost italian only to be honest, after ww2 tanks I refused to play anything else...italian mid tree is unberable: you go around on go karts against tanks, our mid tree jets are also often mostly subpar.

But recently I finished to grind my 10.7 line.

I got the Freccia, I got the t129 premium (i am huge mangusta fan, don't judge me) I got a Leopard2 A4 and a T72, and FINALLY, the AMX jet

I AM KILLING IT BROS.

It isn't even fair.

I only use the Freccia, I get my kills (may be 5, may be 1) I spawn in the t129, and I kill their SPAA from across the map using those slow heavy missiles.

I feel like a pagan God.

I never felt so strong in a videogame.

It is only gonna get better once I have the final mangusta, the one with the fat spikes.

The fact that we have the best leo in the game at the end of the tree doesn't matter to me.

Tanks underperform compared to the (nerfed) spikes.

Italy end tier seems to be insane.

Maybe the only downside is that we don't have a strong cas jet like the russians.

What nations are better than italy late game?

Does it even get better than this? it is pure dopamine.

why are ground battles so fucking loud compared to air? it's mainly the engine sounds, both from tanks and planes but other sound are really loud too
can't lower other player's engine volumes cause you obviously need to hear them but they could at least give a separate slider for teammate engines, that'd be a big help already
is there some kinda workaround for this? like a sound mod or something?

Not always. I've suicided too many times doing this. You should always check if you've taken damage by quickly tapping the bail out key. It sometimes tells you that bailing out will give a kill to x player even if the aircraft damage model tells you there is no damage anywhere. AI planes are the most dangerous because if they scratch you without you taking damage, you wont see it by tapping J
