Spears are Ranged/Melee hybrid, focus on dashing in and out of combat with emphasis on elemental ground effects and manipulation of them with wind by exploding or moving them around.
As for the huntress herself, was originally just a ranger hybrid with 3 asendancies 1 focusing on Spears, one on Bows and another on Beast Summons (originally cats but last seen to be wolves).
But they scrapped weapon focused asendancies for more general stuff.
Pic related was originally apart of the huntress ascendancy art, but seems to have been re-designed into the 3rd Ranger ascendancy.
