Because despite the 343 games missing the mark constantly, they were never outright bad video games. Halo 5’s MP for example is looked back on fondly because while it was not a classic halo experience most wanted after 4’s shenanigans it worked very well as a MP experience and had a decent amount of post launch content and depth. They also get some rare outright wins like porting MCC to PC and giving it modding tools. Combine this with the fact that there is no actual competition that filled Halos vacant niche it just stews in its own shit while the fanbase gets Stockholm syndrome, similar to how sonic and Bethesda fanbases are unable to quit despite hating 90% of their franchises portfolios.

You mean the 70 studios and 400 independent contractors that made it? 343 can reasonably only be credited for the creation of Halo 4. Either way, they're using Unreal Engine 5. You choose that engine for one reason and one reason alone: Low-skilled, low-paid labor. Speed. It's blurry as Hell by default and nu343 will NOT put in the effort to do better. They will push the usual heavy dithering and deferred rendering to smear everything together, and act like you're at fault for noticing this.

Did they really have to kill of Escharum though? They could have saved him for the rest of the Halo Infinite trilogy and then they could have done the Atriox reveal as the real big bad which would have led into the next Halo trilogy installment (Endless/Precursors/Offensive Bias/whatever). For Infinite it's like they blew their load but nothing even came out. And now they're moving on to the next thing. It's like they never focus on the current thing, it's always the next thing far into the future. But by the time it gets here it's unfinished and once again they're always focused on the next project. It's like their studio is an idea developer rather than a games developer. They need someone else to step in and polish their stuff up.

I like the variety in the trilogy and I'd even accept 4's style for select facilities/areas. I just didn't like it being the main aesthetic everywhere suddenly.
I'd never turn up my nose at a game where they mainly looked like high fidelity CE structures. Loved all the miscellaneous structures in campaign and the various maps.
