>>517084652It's because of what the other guy said, you literally get punished if you say certain words and those list of words aren't really listed anywhere so people with non offensive intensions saying stuff like "Sorry I was playing that retarded" will get you chat restricted.
However you can also not say bad words and still get punished to 10 games in normals else you're banned from ranked and your honor stripped on top of being placed in bad queues if you type too much.
Some people have spent so much money and time on their accounts that they'd rather just not type at all and keep it save than be creative with their bm's.
It's also why when people type it's always sarcastic or passive aggressive and completely unhelpful.
It doesn't help some people in their games either because there are bots in PvP maps now that also don't type.
Also I presume people unironically buy emotes to bm as a method of communication since pings are too clean as a safe way to not get the hammer.
Communication and making friends peaked when this game had those group chats/guild things in the client.
Atleast this games comms wasn't destroyed by Discord or something stupid.
