btw, I would tend to agree that bullet "chess" isn't real chess, but note that in a high level bullet game, Magnus couldn't play a move like he did in that game vs. Gates, because the trap would almost always be spotted instantly and Magnus would very likely go on to lose the game down a piece.
That wasn't a 'bullet' move, it was a 'playing vs. a huge patzer for an entertaining spectacle' move.
Well played bullet games can routinely have centipawn losses of <20.
Even at my relatively low level, I can feel that there is a hard limit to how far I can go just by playing non-losing moves as quickly as possible. It's still necessary to play for positional objectives as well as tactics - that's how you put pressure on your opponent and make them blunder, not just with the clock.
