it's retarded prices get fucked so much more than anything else because it's the best way to actually play the game.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a fan mod for the PC version to keep prices the same as normal on hard difficulty.

I think the series would be viewed in a different way, due to how it's unpopular to do anything with israel now. Mainly due to the genocide. But I don't think Atlus would ever do a topic as dark as "history repeats itself" with something as controversial as that.

They talked about the game reflecting modern problems and uncertainties. And it literally does. The main story beats, the side quests are all metaphors for real life problems.

On the most basic level the plot is about God being dead and the angels trying to maintain a fragile control while every other religion is out for themselves. God and the Angels are the United States, the other religions are the other countries of the world, with their own fucking UN.

I haven't tried it so take what I say with a grain of salt but I imagine the problem is Lunar Hurricane requires you to be way faster than the enemy, at least 3 times faster for full power and enemies on Godborn have jacked up stats, particularly bosses so it's much harder go get your 600 BP Giga Chad attack.

That said if you can maintain double speed that's still about even with Parselene Blur.

Yes, with the right settings it looks fine.
Most with common sense will agree the remaster actually looks worse than the original emulated with high resolution.

I feel like V(V) dropped the ball with boss presentation compared to IV(f), despite the latter mostly being 4-frame sprites on burning background. Lost the mid-battle conversations too.
It's probably mostly the backgrounds being too static, but maybe some of the bosses' combat idles being too "idle" also contributes to it. Only Tehom and Lucy's third phase star summon felt somewhat intimidating.

i will say about nusona:
the calendar system encourages the player to do the dungeons in as few days as possible and while it's not a requirement, it makes the games feel restrictive.
there's a bunch of sl stuff to do that's tied to ingame days.
nusona games are meant to have the sl side be there for when you need a break for the dungeon crawling but the games want you to do all the dungeoneering shit all at once.
there's not a balance between dungeon exploring and sl hangouts when playing optimally.
it's either knowingly waste days by leaving the dungeon early to go do sl stuff, or do all dungeon stuff at once.

the calendar system just makes the intended playstyle feel rushed.

i wanna also add the games also had a tired mechanic since p3 (turned to sp in p4 forward) that also made doing early dungeons in 1 go difficult.
one-daying kamoshida's castle is stupid.

the games encourage doing things like that in one go though.

It's kinda funny how the one-shot manga does more for the characters than the entirety of Ronde. Asuka loses his sense of self when fighting the demons, which is something mentioned in the guide but never touched upon in the game, but Sakurako and Keita pull him back to reality. 2 dungeons in vanilla p5 do that.
technically 3 if you count mementos.
4 if you count royal iirc.
only played royal once but i think maruki's palace had a roadblock.
but it would be solved in 1 or 2 ingame days so the player would also naturally be inclined to go right back into the dungeon they just got kicked out of.

you would've only seen the museum.
futaba's, okumura'a and shido's are my least favorite dungeons design wise.
although, royal made them and other dungeons "smoother" to explore in some ways.
it changed the boss fights too. some are cooler but they made futaba's boss a glorified cutscene in royal.

they can do what they want, all i'm saying is the structural design of nusona games feels contradictory with what it wants from the player and how the sl parts "interact" with the dungeon parts.

I can kind of see why Mainline fans would be resentful of Persona since it overshadowed Mainline SMT financially with it's popularity. But if you like Persona or even prefer it I don't really care one way or the other. Though I do think it's still a good idea to keep both smtg and the Persona General separate since while they come from the same franchise, the two fanbases have somewhat divergent subcultures. So giving each other space would still be a good idea in my honest opinion. To get back on topic, like I said, I like Mainline SMT more, but Persona's heavy usage of Tarot card symbolism gives it in edge in occult imagery. Granted, there is occult imagery in Mainline as well, like Kabbalah in Nocturne, but I can imagine that playing Persona would make you feel more like a Wizard in his Laboratory for reasons I can't fully explain. (I have about 200s of hours in SMT5 Vengeance and 15-ish hours in SMT3 Nocturne, to better explain myself.

But ya I do think the thing of Persona overshadowing it does somewhat come into play.

And I get what you mean about the occultism. I thinka big reason is because persona has the contrast bewteen the real world and the other world, so it makes the "magical" and occult aspect of it stand out more. Plus like you said all the heavy use of tarot. Id say the most the other games have that feeling is mainly in the demon fusion aspect and thats kinda it. I will say though I really like the fusion aniamtion for strange journey which i played recently, it really gives me that wizard summoning vibe you are talking about

I think the point of it was to show this stupid message of love triumphs over alignment and the only beings capable of love are humans. It's why when Tao and Yoko are human they are willing to pivot but as goddesses they are alignment locked. Aogami shows his development from being alignment locked himself in the beginning but then pivots in any direction the MC points him in later. Although in CoC he shows he's not as willing to bend as he is in CoV despite Aogami saying mostly the same things.

The weekend is almost upon us and that means Gartic/Magma. But I should probably actually ask this time: how many people will be able to show up, or even want to? Also, sorry for not making another Magma on Sunday last week, I was too tired lol. I figured we can have less frequent Magmas i.e. one every other week if people are getting sick of them, but that depends on how you guys feel. I don't mind having one every other weekend instead of every weekend. And if Gartic and Magma are getting too stale, I wonder if jackbox would be a potential fun idea... but the threads have been extra quiet lately, so that could contribute to a lack of players.

Playing through vengance for the first time on pc

A dedicated healer isn't too necessary since most of Masakado's attacks will be repelled/drained, any damage you do take can be healed with items. Yoshitsune just needs his unique, both physical pleromas, and crit zealot, and his weakness removed, Beelzebub just needs debilitate, luster candy, both boon boosts, and his weakness removed. Masakado uses every single elemental dracostrike so you want to make sure none of your demons are weak to anything since taunt doesn't draw in attacks 100% of the time.
My Nahobino's set up is similar to yours but I have regular almighty pleroma as well (they stack, if you didn't know)

don't bother, as long as you have the mother harlot tank set up and no weaknesses on your other demons you'll be fine. Since you're on playthrough 1 there's no way you'll be able to kit your entire team in drains/repels anyways since most of them come from 1-per-run essences. Enduring soul is good to have on as many demons as possible but I don't know if there's enough to go around in 1 playthrough.

You can basically grab an enduring soul from one of the Aogami Husks whenever you need it. You get it from near the Asakusa Leyline Fount in Taito.

Very disappointed.
The persona mechanics are overly bloated for the meager content the game has and cryptic bullshit gating basically everything (yep I got the bad ending the first time around and had to restart) wasn't great. I'll rather stick with regular SMT games I think. The story and the music were alright though.

It can make for a pretty bland experience though, which can kill people's interest.

Retarded thoughts of mine but in Disc 1 of Ronde the tone, while still serious, has its light moments. There's some attempts at humour and the scenes at Asuka's house are comfy, playing the song 'Peace'.
Starting from Disc 2 onwards there's none of this. No scenes at all of Asuka and co at his house just chilling on the couch, no lighthearted moments, iirc the song 'Peace' doesn't even play a single time during the whole disc. The scene of Satoshi in Antinora and Molech's death subtly changes the tone of the rest of the game. There's no more peace or reprieve from the battle anymore, because the 'final moment' of the world is fast approaching.
An unrelated thing, I don't like the decision to translate 'majin' as 'genie' in the script.

On GameFAQs there's only machine translations and they're really bad. Reddit has a better one but it's obvious they also used MTL at times.
Google translates Majin (魔神) as Genie but that doesn't fit Ahriman. The term literally means Demon God, a demon with god-like powers, and while that kind of fits a genie, Ahriman doesn't directly grant wishes or anything.

Honest opinion on SMT V so far
I love the press turn system, it's genius
I like the demon designs
Everything else is meh to bad though
I hate exploring the world, grinding fights, and even the fights themselves to a degree
While the combat has some depth, it seems the real actual depth seems to almost entirely be in building your team.
You can go about fights differently, either bringing a good cc party, resistances to steal enemy turns, dps button pushers, or use the correct element
But what you are doing feels tactically very simple. Maybe the game gets more complicated as it goes on, but right now I'm barely interested in what I am doing.
It in large part feels like a "can you be bothered to keep up" check.
Fusing demons is a pain. Yeah, I can see a new demon in the overworld, but I can't be bothered to negotiate 3 times for a useless piece of shit whose only use will be in unlocking further fusions which may also be mediocre. Not to mention that I have to level them up.
I can carry so few demons at a time so I am clearly supposed to fuse them away quickly after max level, but the fusions available may not immediately be able to replace my lost demons function.
So I'm dragging around an underleveled weak demon because I have no good alternative and I can't find the alternative unless I get rid of them, it feels like lose lose.
Maybe I'm a shitter, maybe it's not for me, but I'm not having that much fun desu

This week's Nocturne TRPG campaign was so fucking stupid, holy shit.

If you don't like the fights then I don't know what to tell you. Doing side quests is the main way to level up along with the random power up items. You even get 5 free party wide level ups per map. I found myself avoiding most overworld fights once I got the associated demons in my compedium.

No I've been siding with Yoko pretty much the whole game so I'm not surprised I went with her. My only surprise is that someone had told me the choices throughout the game didn't matter and I'd get to choose whatever when the time to pick a path came.

It's actually funny you say that while playing the game in Japanese because when I checked 2chan's VV threads they went with Yoko and say pretty much the same things. They sided with her because Yoko is cute but could not understand what the fuck her ending was about and some were even a little angry with it.
