After 13 characters and many years I've finally *clicked* with retail, classic just feels too slow for me now and the fluidity of combat and movement in retail is very nice, I think what's really keeping me is the new flight system, it's almost as good as guild wars 2 flying but the open world here is huge and seamless so theres actually a benefit to using it.

My only issue is that I've spent hours playing without seeing anyone outside of a major city, im going through Legion because it often gets rated the best xpac and I've never done it, and yeah it is fun but there's noone else in this timeline it seems.

Does everyone just end up congregating in whatever the new xpac content is? I don't mind playing this as a single player mmo when out questing and have interactions in-between but it would be nice to see people out in the open world

fucking why? like, even if you just stretched undermine out to be twice the size it is by copy and pasting assets and making the streets longer that would have made it a bit more enjoyable, but like by the time i get in the car and get up to top speed i've already blasted through 3 districts in 3 seconds and have no idea where i am.

undermine is a great zone, and drive is a great feature, but the two just dont match up.

you would need a zone the size of azj kahet or hallowfall to make drive really sing, meanwhile undermine is this incredibly small but nearly boralus level dense city with lots of indoor areas and small nooks and crannies to explore, the exact wrong kind of zone for a mechanic like drive.

how this got out the door as it is will be a mystery to me for some time i think

it reminds me of if you took a mario kart 64 pvp level, like the small square one, and tried to put F-zero cars going 600mph in it

i bean playing classic and it made me realize that it was really all downhill from there
the sheer amount of kino released in one go is unreal, it's almost unimaginable how they even did it
my theory is that after the initial success of vanilla, the MBAs took over and systematized the whole development process
from there on kino could no longer happen at scale because devs didn't have the freedom to get creative
but I also think devs started listening to competitive faggots and nerfed a lot of the things that made the game fun

kinda. every fault of wow is directly tied to its monetization scheme. chasing subscriptions ruined the game. they kept tacking on extra endgame stuff because people at endgame were threatening to unsub. they shortened leveling because players complained it took too long to catch up to their friends at endgame and they would unsub. normal non-subscription games wouldnt really care about either of these things. you bought the game, devs get money. with subs, the devs need something to keep you playing week after week to keep getting paid. the entire game is designed around maximizing subscriptions

Thats not even like an observation from experience. Anyone who puts thats sort of effort and detail into something so niche is going to be a huge untouchable sperg.

Like I write fiction, I have a setting of my own I have been working on for years(started in the darker days of WoW when I was like "I could certainly do better than this") and If I see someone writing an essay in their RP profile I just swerve.

the ONLY place that is ok is if its an extensive character backstory, but even so, thats not something that should be outwardly facing its something that should be exposed via interaction IE through RP.

I susually write each characters story down and then keep it hidden for my own reference to inform rp choices later, and discuss it in bit and pieces till someone who talks to me a lot knows the whole story.

It's been so long I don't remember how you unlock the 3 battle pet slots. But if you go upgrade your garrison to level 3, the quest to unlock the menagerie gives you a stone that upgrades a pet to level 25 and from there it's easy to level a bunch more to a usable range

Yeah, it's a side activity you kill time on, you can't just jump into the newest shit with it. Level on Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms first.
If you need pets of specific types or kinds, think of zones where you think they'd be because they probably would be there.

As a spoon feeding, you can get a mechanical cat in the Gnome start zone. Fluxfire Feline.
Earliest Dragon you can get are probably Spawn of Onyxia in Dustwallow and Infinite Whelpling in Tanaris. I think they're around level 12-14.

I am on an RP realm desu, the cities are really lively and immersive for it but everything outside is a wasteland, blizzard could learn from gw2 here (it does some thinks really well amongst the pile of shit that it is), by incentivising people to populate older zones, not all at once but atleast some kind of world events that give people a reason to populate levelling zones, instead they went the other way by trying to fast track people as quickly as possible to the newest xpac, burn through the content and then sit in the main hubs for queues to pop

The nightborne dome wasn't underwater. Post retcon only the tomb of sargeras and some sections of the zone were submerged and later raised, but the part of the city we play in stayed above water. The actual city of Suramar being present in Legion is ironically a lot less lore breaking than a bunch of Tauren, Gilneas adjacent humans, Night Elves, and Vrykul being on the supposedly sunken islands that only recently resurfaced. It becomes clear very quickly that the living Night Elves and Highmountain Tauren living in the area are LONG settled, with this literally being the Highmountain Taurens ancestral homes even before the shattering. So clearly they were never underwater.

Suramar before the shattering was a MASSIVE city that stretched most of the land surrounding the well of eternity. Suramar in WoW is one chunk of Suramar that spared itself with bubble magic, becoming a warped time capsule of what was lost. Different to the highborne, but more similar than the Nelves or Belves are.
Things like Queen Azshara's palace and many of the other places mentioned in the War of the Ancients trilogy are not in modern day Suramar because of this. Those parts of highborne society did sink and become the Naga, it's just that one small sector of the city become the nightborne instead. The tale of Suramar entirely being destroyed became common knowledge throughout the world, and thus recounted to the player, but if they hadn't made contact with anyone, there'd be no way for anyone to know part of Suramar technically lived.

The only big plothole as far as Suramar goes is the bubble going unquestioned and no one messing with it for the years between TFT and Legion.

Underwater bubble explains it all perfectly so it's insane that it's a different nonsensical explanation.I loved the ghost night elves and suramar, I think it should have happened, I think it was handled well. I even agree with changing broken isles to be partially risen from the seas instead of fully because it allows for a lot better zones overall.

But IMO if you have the Suramar bubble above water too long/the entire time the whole thing just crumbles.

The success or failure of every group rests entirely upon you. You choose the path, set the pace and control the positioning.

A good tank can survive despite a shitty healer or kill things to carry shitty. There is NOTHING that can be done to compensate for a shitty tank in group.

It is not particularly Hard to do correctly, but it must be done correctly.
It not much more difficult to execute than the other roles but its a lot more responsible. The tanks fuckups fuck everyone. The level of like group pressure is lower than healer but higher than dps, you don;t have to compensate for you won teams retardedness they way a healer does, but aside from your teams HP bars every problem is your problem to fix.

You have to have a certain % of the dungeon mobs complete in M+, and since pulling is the tanks responsibility, you will have to come up with routes through the dungeons to get enough mob kills in.

In raids, you will be expected to coordinate tank mechanics with another tank, failing them will kill you, healers failing healing mechanics will also kill you, DPS may also find a way to kill you.

In PvP you are useful but niche and harder to get value out of than healers or DPS.
