Just playing anything else makes you realize what an aggressive waste of time this game is. The amount of things you can get done in the same timeframe as the queue time, dodges, drafts, loading, losers queue game are massive.

I think the cause of League addiction is that if it's the only game you play it numbs you to the actual value of your time and tricks you into believing it's normal to throw away an hour of your time into pure gambling. And don't trick yourself into thinking this game isn't gambling teammates unless your skill level is 1000 lp above your game. And even then if you're not playing an op champ in an op role you can still be subject to the teammate lottery.

Yeah I don't really bother watching him lvl again, the original run was fun, still have no idea as to why he bothered doing ubrs like 800 times but whatever. Mostly ment the new wc3 arc, I really like how he struggles with it. Really hope he sticks with it wc3 has such a massive learning curve and you can't blame your team for losing.

Anyway, anon (if you are here), I play lots of toplane both ranked and normal. I'll begin to say I'm lowelo but I found it suspicious that lately I've been hating on Yone top, and the toplaner I'm matched against is more often than not picking Yone if I don't ban it. Previously it was Sett. I don't think I had a simple matchup in toplane in weeks, if we take away the lucky games. Ended up playing jungle just to chill a little in normal but I'm arguable in jungle and the enemy jungler is often a yautja.

Yone is incredibly popular so I can't really say the matchmaking is at fault here especially if you're playing Swiftplay and people can now queue up the same champ on two roles x2ing the possibility of coming across them.
Getting mogged by a jungle player as a nonjungler is expected too so you can put your paranoia to rest. For now.......

yeah, i understand all that. i play normals pretty much exclusively and sometimes it really does feel like you just get put up against the enemy jungle that has a boner for you and nobody else on earth, and your jungler is an afk rat. i guess i just mostly think that the average league player is borderline subhumanly bad at the game and riot doesn't need to try that much harder to make you have a bad game lol

It wasn't as often as now, and even without considering it there is still the awful matchups in toplane in general. As I said in the previous thread, the system might not be immediate and have a warm-up time instead, this would explain why the first games are usually more 'fair' but the more you play the more frustrating they get. I assume it also has a relax time when you don't play as often or at all, meaning it maybe has to reevaluate your stats in relation to players who play more often.
I definitely think the matchmaking is suspicious, didn't have the same feeling about 10 years ago and I was merely plain bad at the game.

How bad are we talking? Because a bad player to me would mean not even understanding the basics of surface level, as if they installed the game right in that moment. Or someone who dies 10 times in the same way and doesn't change approach, like not even waiting under tower which is the bare minimum of playing safe.

Oh yeah this game definitely tries to pull you in with a good first match time to time especially if that account hasn't been active for a while to pull you in, this had happened to some of mine or all of mine in general when I take breaks and come back. Get stuff like 8 wins in a row, amazing kda, good communication all around then the game slowly begins to drip some awful games.
This is also the case with new players playing PvP modes at like level 7 and thinking they're doing incredibly well but it's actually just them going against bots or literally bottom of the barrel players to make themselves feel good and string them along until the later levels when veterans start beating the shit out of them but they're already level 24 and "ranked will be better and more balanced" sorta reasonings.
However that Yone stuff, unfortunately there did seem to be some people who unironically purchased that skin or put him in the spotlight again due to that. Not like him being strong all year last year wasn't bad enough.

ultimately, the most important thing to know with league is to play it in extreme moderation and knowing when to stop, imo. if i have one awful game but still want to play league, i'll go play a co-op vs ai just to progress my battle pass bullshit. if i win two games in a row, i call it good, and do the same. but the minute the feeling of playing becomes "bad," i stop queueing for pvp lol

The game is still good because it offers a different experience (especially the competitive side) than the other ones at a timely basis, however, due to all the changes there is a sense in lack of control or agency that the players may crave to desire a more organic or peaceful gameplay.
If you play other games they may seem more fair in terms of being able to do what you want without being restricted, punished or warned all the time for even doing the most basic stuff like sitting still for like 20 seconds.
Hostility in this game has become quite overblown form literally the players and the devs themselves so it just leaves people to get frustrated, disappointed, demoralised or atleast passive aggressive about it.
Kinda sucks and the only thing you can really do about it is either change your attitude about it or just not play this game as to not feed bad emotions.

You're either ignorant or dishonest. In every sport there has been strategies that bent the rules of the game to make it worse in some way and needed to be banned or altered. Lane swapping removes the skill expression of both top laners and bot laners because when one side gets outdrafted they just move away from their matchup.

Laning has been there longer than lane swapping because that was the initial intended design of the game so that has to go, ad leblanc has to go because she's designed to be a mage, etc.
In a way if you think about it, the players lack of openness for anything different is quite similar to esports, the way the pick the same champs, do the game routine, etc it is boring but it is safe and guarantees a higher chance of winning than being fun and doing something wacky or what they want.
It's also kinda why people obsess over op.gg and those itemization sites, just stats stats stats.

Nah I play malignance Kog because I rolled that stuff in Aram and everyone wants to play ad bruisers/tanks or adc so I balance it out with the AP Kog since not only is it AP but also a good and safe long ranged peel or everyone, it's the same reason why you see stuff like AP Kaisa in that game mode or maybe URF but not in the actual game in the rift.
I dont really meme pick in the rift, just play the same 5 or so champs I like regardless of the winrate or how the runes and items are doing because to me they are fun and I have control over what I can play there without having to make compromises like the Kog stuff.
To me knowing how to make do and balance out the team is strategy, meta picking is not strategy, you're just following the trend to statistically optimize your winrate, there isn't much thinking involved usually either which is why you sometimes see people building the same items over and over without actually thinking about what they do and would be optimal on a per game basis. That is not good strategy nor is it wacky or fun.

Aram was fun for me but I kinda got sick and tired of having to tank for people all the time or seeing backline afk hug tower.
I eventually picked up quckplay for the hextech chests off masteries since I had like 26 keys doing nothing but now that it's gone there's no incentive to really play summoners rift unless it's for the control of choice on the champ you wanna play.

Dota has had periods of duo mid meta. DotA doesn't exactly have strict lanes, all the positions are given a number and it's basically a "gold/xp priority." Position 2 is usually mid, Position 1 is usually safe lane, position 3 is usually offlane. DotA's map is also intentionally asymmetric, so the top lane on their red side has its tower closer to the center of the lane, while the bottom lane has its tower further away from the center of the lane. There is no dedicated jungler, so you have two supports and they roam around the map.

They aren't really comparable to league because the game is meant to be dynamic. Also in DotA TP is a 100g consumable item with an 80 second cooldown so there is way more room for swapping and quick plays around the map.

how did it go? I saw one this season as well, but I was playing malphite and could still get some farm and be useful later, while enemy garen went 0/5 in our bottom lane. dont know why they forced it but that was kinda my point. lane swaps dodnt really work without coordinated draft, or unless you get lucky myabe. Kraken is a snowball buy for me. If I can get an early kill on my laner or elsewhere then its usually a good first item rush. Unless I anticipate the jungler or top laner getting very tanky and fed. In that case I will rush BotRK first. BUT even if do get Kraken first and you feel like you need BotRK both of them work well together. Otherwise BotRK and Rageblade for tanks and Kraken and Rageblade for squishy teams comps or you're that far ahead. Try it out, I spent a lot of time in practice running number tests for DPS and these gave me the best results. Pic related for runes. Domination + Dorans blade if you're confident about level early all in, or Resolve + Shield if you're just gonna get harrassed. Lethal tempo is more DPS but PTA is close behind and does better for shorter engages. TRY IT and let me know or lets queue up on the rift

Nobody enjoys playing top and having the support and jungle three-man pressure you under your tower pre-5 minutes. Obviously this almost never happens but, well, hence the 1%.

I don't get what's wrong with adding denies. It would at most impact early game if you don't add denies to towers. It's either this or adding more forced "fixes" so people play the game the way the devs want.

i know this guy and i can they got rid of denies. in dota most carries are melee and there's a turn rate, if you had higher AD, you would never ever ever let your opponent get a minion ever again because you turn instantly, and in dota, getting perfect farm is virtually impossible, even at TI level of play

when i came from back from my 2 years of dota 2 to lol i was like wow last hitting with most champions is really easy in this game and would often end lane 0/0/0 with 100cs regardless of how badly my team was inting

You say that like the devs, high up in their crystal tower, decided that lane swapping is bad. I don't know anyone that unironically likes lane swaps as a regular thing.
Adding denies is a massive change to the game, akin to adding couriers or other shit that Dota has, while adding counter mechanics to lane swappers changes nothing for 99.9999% of players.

Not reasonable till now I'd say, since emporium grants all the non exclusive chromas for free, not sure if they do that in China either but I presume a lot of the Chinese are willing to actually pay for the chromas instead of BE hoarding and splashing it all in the emporium.
If they bring it to the west now would be a good time since emporium is rumoured to be taken out of the game, not like people aren't already starved off BE anyways so there would be more incentive to purchase them rather than getting it for free.

perhaps she should be my backup instead of galio if TF gets picked against me because i do know to how to play ahri well, and my duo refused to fucking let me experiment with it because he can only play twitch and he sucks at it, but i'm absolutely convinced ahri support is a sleeper, just max charm and then you have 3 dashes and you're never getting caught roaming and placing deep wards and can just dash in and engage and your auto harass is pretty good early game

I grew up on WC3 (og DoTA) and AoE2, those games were much more comfy than League, unfortunately yeah people I came across played League and it seemed familiar to DoTA and I ran with it, don't think it was a terrible decision overall since still focused on life but I do kinda regret not picking up DoTA 2 instead at times due to the og DoTA. Though League is raunchy as fuck and kinda stupid at times so in a way has it's charm.

Not like you can play League anymore, you do you man. Also I don't think Kaisa can really buy Zhonyas, well, she can but it's not as convenient as before due to the build path being different. The only champ similar to her in terms of dps/hybrid build that would make sense would be Jax, though situationally.

I get what you mean, but what you're saying is highly contaminated by your own feelings towards the champion. Go take a look at stats, Ahri has a pretty high winrate while also having more pick rate than most champions, even if you consider only players at or above Master.
She's not slightly better than other assassins, she's better than most other champions.

Azir is THE pure AP Marksman, he should be in that group.
Kennen isn't a marksman considering how people play him, and the 5 people who actually play him as a marksman go full AS/AD instead. He should be with Vlad.
Viktor shouldn't be with Vlad. He is 100% a control mage, and he isn't really a battlemage.

I can't see Zyra anywhere, she should be in Battlemage/control mage.

When you go AP TF you end up building Lichbane and often RFC, so he's rather close to an AP Marksmen. Still, I don't think he qualifies. Using autos doesn't make you an AP Marksman, you have to focus on building for autos for you to qualify.

IMO just look at builds. Does that ranged mage build Nashor's? If yes, then he is an AP Marksman. If no then don't include in that group.

Poppy is good because her w is one of the good aoe anti mobility/animation cancellation spells to deny engages, only champ I can think that can do that is Janna with her ult. There's just too much mobility in this game sometimes, it feels only right for some to have a counter.

Viktor is definitely a battlemage. Its what Riot primarily categorise him as because he has a lot of sustained damage. Burst mage is harder to argue imo.
