It does for me, you have to be at the exact screens he is at when he does what he does. And when you tab back into the game you're not able to select practice, you will still have your cursor on the tutorial, but if you just press confirm you will enter practice instead of tutorial

Don’t feel bad, even by fighting game standards this game is pretty complicated and no one knows what they’re doing right now because there’s no training mode to practice and experiment in.
The reason fighting games have a lot of complicated shit is because they’re meant to be played for years. It’s something you study and practice and get better at over a long period of time. So the game has to be deep and difficult enough to warrant a time investment.

Because Granblue pulled an old Capcom/ArcSys move of rereleasing the same game with 2~3 new characters and minor additions to the system that might as well be an update patch for full price with no compatibility with the old version. I myself didn't even touch the old game after that.

Initial impressions I feel the stages are a bit underbaked. Example, freight train stage is an homage to MotW but it goes from daytime to evening, which is neat but its missing the final round variant to tie it together, unlike the MotW version.

How do I avoid doing a dp if I run forward and do a fireball? In sf6 I can do 41236 and it's an alternate motion that gives you a fireball no matter what you input previously, but it doesn't work here. The buffer seems massive. I can run, stop for a few frames, do a fireball, and a dp comes out.

-solve the matchmaking issue....i think it's the server selection thing...it works in a game with actual rooms where you can confirm your opponent is there to play but not in ranked matching...just use ping...i think people with good pings are just being separated from one another due to server selection segregating people
-add a feint/break macro button...the rev button can still be for rev block and the gear supers

That's it, otherwise great game.

There just aren't enough talented people who can do good-looking 3D animations for 2D gameplay. ArcSys essentially trained theirs from the ground-up. Rest of the industry has to make do with artists normally doing full 3D graphics not intended to be viewed so closely leading to very ugly games like KoFXV, SF6 and MK1. It's not really a question of money. You have similar problems in CGI industry where big movie companies have massive budgets to throw around but you still get horrible CGI because there simply aren't enough talented people who can work quickly enough to produce the desired results.

It's not a cope, I'm just explaining why you can't get good-looking 3D fighter with 2D gameplay even if you were to throw loads of money at it. Sure, with a bigger budget and more time these games might look better, but they wouldn't look good. Money simply does not generate talent, unless you are in it for the long haul and willing to take a decade to train your artists. Your best bet is to contract ArcSys to teach you how as Neople did with DNF Duel. 8ing made most of the game but they had ArcSys there to actually oversee and make sure the graphics look good. Then 8ing moved to making HxH game without ArcSys assistance and it looks horrific. The problem is even more pronounced with realistic graphics since there is no equivalent of ArcSys for that style.

I'm pretty sure a big reason VF died is that the first release of VF5 on consoles had no online. Not bad online, the game was offline local play only and remained so for years until the relatively recent console re-release with the "racist netcode" which was server based. Now we had revo releasing with problems too and no crossplay.

I'm so sick of these guys ruining the potential of these IPs and characters. Fucking use it to hire people who know what they're doing already.

ofc individual skill make a lot of difference in this game, but vox rock and terry are so much easier to play it makes them top 3 off of that, but a good preecha or a good kain will win against them easily, but are harder to play
very few hotarus are good at the game
jenet is a noob trap, the character does very little damage you HAVE to be good at the game to win matches
mai is the only awkward character, she is interesting, she has a lot of tools but her walkspeed is so fuckign slow, she does a good amount of damage too but her kit feels disconnected, a dive kick, a dp, a fireball, a jack of all trades master of none scenario
characters on the leftmost are stronger than the ones on the right

This is basically the final build. I mean all the leaks that came from it basically confirms that. Unless they delay it, there's pretty much no real fixing they could possibly do before release.

In Garou:MotW, Kain was a pure charge character. He's been retooled in FF:CotW to have motion inputs now, so he can take advantage of JD guard cancels now. His flash kick is the only charge move he has left.

First off, they said they're fixing it and possibly making a second test. I heavily doubt this is the final build.

Secondly I can agree with you in the sense they shouldn't have put the beta out so late in the hype cycle but this is a test to find problems with the games' online systems and gather feedback, getting mad that it's doing just that is ridiculous.

Because they mindlessly copied slop system from SF6 without realizing that at least in that game you can always counter with your own slop for a full punish unless you have played extremely carelessly. Honestly quite a lot of the new system mechanics are copied from SF6 without understanding why they were there in the first place. I mean the gameplay is still better because they didn't copy drive rush, but it's quite disappointing and makes it pretty clear how uncreative the devs are.

I don't see the point of Jenet's 236236D brake. To outdamage it, you have to burn a ton of Rev, and even then the damage increase is miniscule. You already get decent oki after the kiss, and she hits like a truck either way.
I also don't think using Lv2s in supers is worth it most of the time. Compared to Lv1s, they only tack on about 40-50 damage after everything is scaled. Burning two stocks is probably only good for Hidden Gear, as well as invincibility in neutral.
Until everyone learns to red parry, this combo seems like a safe way to confirm into super which doesn't cost much Rev. Kiss outdamages Torpedoes by like 7-12 points of damage, but it only works after Harrier Bees if you're near the corner, while Torpedoes works from anywhere.

You have to see level 2 usage as how they're used in SF6 which is mostly to close out rounds or being at the right health range for a raw one to kill especially if you're not in SPG range and can't use the Hidden Gears.

I mean that's what it is, they even put in an aerial drive impact. It has drive impact, perfect parry, starting out with full drive gauge, blocking causing you to lose meter, gaining meter just with time, running out of meter causing you to enter a disadvantage stage where you can get check-mated into an unblockable setup but if you survive you get full meter back etc. You have to be willfully ignorant to not to notice that it has taken extreme influence from SF6, almost all of the mechanics are inspired by it.

COTW's Rev system is inspired by SF6's drive system, but it's not a 1:1 copy, and to say that it is a copy is being very disingenuous.

--REV Blow doesn't give you a combo in the corner if your opponent blocks it, and it's only available for a specific portion of the match, and sometimes not at all if you catch your opponent in a big combo. Guard cancels can also fuck up REV Blows.

--Just defend and hyper defense allow Overheated players to try and weather the storm and avoid being guard crushed, plus they still have universal light DPs with invuln in addition to level 2 supers. When you're burned out in SF6, you just have to take it or gamble on your invulnerable supers.

--Just defends and hyper defends are not the same as perfect parries, as punishing after them requires stricter execution, plus there's no screen freeze telling you "hey dumbass, punish your opponent now"

--Chip kills are a thing even without being overheated.

Also learned you can brake 214D to get an empty jump. Up close, it gives you a j.B crossup into cl.C. It also travels much further than her forward jump, so you can hop in with this after light fireball, or couple it with Harrier Bees.

If the reward off it is too high then the problem is with the damage/combos/oki in your game, not the parry itself. Strong defensive mechanics are a good thing.
