You can unlock the classic costume for characters by playing the single player world tour, maxing out your bond with them (or pay real money)

There are daily, weekly and monthly quests like "play 30 cabinet matches" or "play trial mode once" that give you some currencies you can use to buy avatar costumes, or level up your characters (that unlocks you things like titles and other useless stuff).
You can also earn the same currencies by normally playing the game.
These currencies also level up your battle pass and there's some free and some paid rewards, also all cosmetics or things like music for the jukebox, clothes and animations, roms to play in battle hub...

I've noticed a real odd distaste in the broader community for Idom complaining about SF6, just saw Broski make a joke about how he's like Idom, cuz he played against a Ken who dropped a combo into a perfect parry into a Drive Impact and he said "that's the most SF6 thing I've ever seen" its like you can't criticize SF6 unless it's a joke where we all know *wink* *wink* that its not that serious.

sajam likes universal mechanics because it's easy to yap about during commentary

SF6 is a complete massacre of the SF series because it seeks to reinvent everything so vtubers can push 1 button to slime and throw loop each other.

COTW is an actual sequel that preserves pretty much everything from MOTW. Rev meter and burnout are only similar to SF6 superficially. Their real purpose is to balance the game better in case some characters are way better at using breaks, guard cancels, etc. which did not cost resources in MOTW.

It sucks that few people ever played MOTW, so they just think COTW is "KOF with SF6 drive meter and burnout tacked on". But if you have played it, you would see that COTW is very faithful to MOTW, just like KOFXV still felt like KOF, and SS 2019 still felt like SS.

I can't even tell what Koichi is even adding to the battle system besides FD.

yeah, but this isn't happening with SF6. New players get to enter the bubble that is battle hub and barely engage with the game. 90% of the subreddit is in support of SF6 and actively shits on idom. I literally went and searched up the Genisis SF6 tourney results because I didn't even know there was a tourney, and it was just a bunch of people shitting on idom even though he won kek.

The type of hate SF5 received, was unanimous and extreme, like the equivalent of DS2 hate, where it gets compounded by the fact that people WANT to hate the game.

If you objectively go check DS1's hitboxes, and DS3's you can find hitboxes as bad or worse than DS2's, but because There are more videos about DS2's the perception about it replaces the reality.

Nobody will EVER objectively and critically evaluate DS2. Because people engage with things based on bias and inclination.

SF5 similarly will never be critically evaluated, and SF6 will never be evaluated at all. It's criticism will always be downplayed, always implied to be uncomfortable, and at worst, it'll become like DS3 where the most criticism you'll get is "it was boring" or "it had no soul" which means absolutely nothing to the average NPC that just consumed what is biggest and most recent.

I think in theory atleast, it's the same for SF5, and I say this as someone who hates DS2 and who's favourite is DS1.

XV of those games is the only one without a full out offensive mixup tool to all the cast but it's lumped in because FXV continues XIV's short hop and backwalk nerfs, WHILE nerfing rolling to only be a situational escape option, and then also introducing 1 frame throws. They did introduce advanced strike later down the road to try and counteract this but it doesn't really fundamentally change the neutered movement.
It's only tolerable because XV is still mostly a standard KOF game but man its movement needs to go back to the MVS era.

if you're new to fighting games then the number one advice you need is to CALM DOWN. It takes YEARS to become just ASS. SF6 sold the lie that anyone can become decent in months. This is not like other genres. SF6 is mickey yes but the mickeyness comes after you are experienced and are not battling the controls. I know people who disagree, but I feel like Juri is a difficult character, especially for beginners. Her level 2 changes basic things and you need to be aware of stock and stockless combos for different situations.

Regardless, I watched some of your matches against Akuma recently. I think you should pick 1 combo, just 1, that is heavy hitting and pushes out a lot of damage if the opening shows itself, and then proceed to drill it in your skull in training mode. Just the 1 for starters. When they fuck up a DP, when they fuck up a DI, you do that, instead of jab dp. Whenever you block their scrubby ass wake up DP you make them suffer. Whenever you counter their random ass scrubby DI, you make them suffer. No bitch ass throw or jab dp anymore. This alone, once you achieve it, is going to improve your rank quite a lot. People do scrubby ass shit often, and you already have a good feeling of blocking their wake up DP. Work on getting comfortable with DI'ing back to make use of that and you'll be going up quite a bit.

Also, Juri has one of the best DP anti airs, if not the best. The range it covers is good. As an example, cammy's dp can go under their jump at certain ranges but it's MUCH harder for juri's dp to do the same, and cammy also has to worry about picking light, medium, or heavy versions depending on the situation. Meanwhile Juri can just medium DP every single time and it's golden for pretty much everything. It's much more brainless in that sense. So use that. Akuma jumped at you quite a bit. Get your medium dp there. I'm a beginner too and the first thing I did was drill the DP anti air reflex to the point it became second nature. I'd lose matches against people who didn't jump, but I played the longest time with 0 combos, just doing bitch throws, pokes, and a solid anti air DP and I was high gold low plat with that. If you wanna go this route and get this solid before any combos, you can. To better than silver, anyway.

One of the first matches I watched a gold Luke jumped on you like five times in the first round and I think he only started doing it more in the next two. Granted, the next couple matches your opponents didn't jump much but their favorite buttons were DI. I think you need to calm down a bit when you play. It's hard to do when you're unfamiliar with the game but it'll help a lot to take a breath and try to be more mindful with what you're doing. You might struggle at first but it'll help a ton in the long run. There's lots of chances for you to kill them if you just wait and block a little bit to counter DI or punish some move they did like Akuma's st.HK. That doesn't mean be completely passive but even just looking at the input history alone you can tell that you're way more frantic than your opponents. You might lose the first interaction but then next time you can remember the situation and hopefully respond faster with something good and that's how you get good. This goes doubly so on your wakeup. You lose a ton of life trying too hard to do stuff on your wakeup even when you can't really do much.

Also, just do like heavy punch into heavy DP or whatever special you want when you block a super/DP or get a punish counter drive impact for a really really basic combo. It'll not only do more damage and be more consistent at range but it'll be easier for you to cash out with super than jabs. On that note, I think you're also wasting your lvl 2 and don't really have a gameplan with it. You'd be better off at the moment just dumping your level 3 when you get a punish.

And you have like not even 50 hours in online matches, nigga, you're doing fine. That's very little for a competitive genre. These games are hard.
