>>514639536They only have to run 1 or 2 games at their events and they have tons of closer events and affordable locals to go to where trad FG players have to travel out or pay expensive local entry prices. Smash is just more accessible and lucrative in general too. If you have seen the history of EVO entrants when they allowed it it completely mogs all FGs with its presence.
They also have functional fanmade online play for one of their premiere games with Slippi so even if they don't travel they can still get good competition going and save money.
That's not to say they're not without their issues (last year's hax fiasco for example, bless the man for continuing to forge his own path eventually).
