The jive era was prosperous because all of the negative attention made players branch out to many different fighting games and form new communities.
All the while, despite this, jive was still able to maintain a strong community and devoted playerbase as the game progressively got better with updates.

Meanwhile, slime sharter is literally the only fighting game with players. The post-launch support is near non-existent. The sense of community is nowhere to be found except maybe Japan? And new fighting games are trying to be slime sharter.

Genre is cooked.

For anti air I do. 1 press DP. In combos I actually do the proper "motion" so the super can come after jus fine. If I'm planning on cancelling an anti air dp into a super then I also do it "properly" as it doesn't work with the 1 press shenanigan.

Yes, it does work if you can call sf4 netcode something that "works". I played some T. Hawk games the other day against 2 different guys from my region (SA), I usually find NA people online at most time, but predictably, it's a low amount.

Not having access to brake or feint is in no way like losing 1 or 2 good normals, that's like not having access to drive rush routes and links. SNK actually had the sense to make their simple input mode a pure training wheels/lil brother mode and not some cheap shit that can be abused at high level. I've figured out what feels so "off" about SFV.

I played SF4 religiously back in the day, 3000PP mained Honda, just played my placements for Honda in SF6 after taking a nearly decade long break from this franchise since SFV released (I hated it).
I placed in Plat II, I was taken off guard quite often by drive rush / impact / general cluelessness against newcomers / ring rust. What do I need to focus on to climb if my SF fundamentals are pretty strong? Practice reacting to drive impact? Learning drive rush combos?

yeah. infiltrations wife was an absolute psychopath who was trying to control his life constantly. think really crazy asian girl. one day she was at his home actively breaking his shit. he grabbed her wrist to stop her from smashing stuff. she filed an abuse case against him in korean court. the FGC took this and ran with it because it was old twitter than was "believe all women even before any facts". so then he got hit with a permanent ban as a result. some people like ultradavid and james chen actively used contacts in the background to pull strings to get this to happen as well dewspite them both being insane creeps to women in the past. the "nice guy defender of women to get close to women" trope.
as it turns out, nobody accusing him read the actual court case. he was never criminally charge rather just told to make an apology for the incident and she was forced to pay his shit. they later divorced and there was no other claims or assault charges at all.
the issue is now because infiltration got burned by his ex wife, and the scene he was a part of for no reason. he's fallen into the super right wing pipeline where he spends days on twitter tweeting about trans people, communists, etc etc etc. he sees an enemy in everything that remotely relates to the very stuff that essentially ruined his life.
even before this he had a very little to no chance to come back while ultracuck and james cum jar were still in the scene. but now its less than zero.

No one can. Not even world class players. Not even veterans like daigo or tokido with 30 years of experience. Not even mutants with hyperfast reactions on adderall like Punk. And this is by design.

SF6 is built around forcing reaction checks that no one can consistently pass. Drive Impact, Drive Rush, and many specials like Dragonlash are designed to be technically reactable but realistically difficult to counter on reaction every time. This creates a game where preemptive options, strong offense, and reads take priority over pure defensive reactions.

The devs clearly wanted to move away from SFV's heavy reliance on frame traps and plus-on-block pressure and instead reward proactive play. If you could reliably react to DI 100% of the time, it would be a much weaker mechanic, and the game would slow down significantly. Instead, DI forces you to either gamble on preemptive checks or hold a mix-up if you’re caught off guard.

Even top players get clipped by DI because SF6 intentionally overloads your mental stack. You’re already checking for Drive Rush approaches, whiff punishing long-range normals, and managing your own pressure. That’s why reaction checks in SF6 aren't just about raw speed. They're about forcing players into situations where reacting perfectly every time is impossible, making the game feel more volatile and offense-oriented.

True, but offense was less committal overall, with many specials being safe for most characters, even more if you spent two bars on FADC. And once you got in, everything lead into a hard knockdown and a left/right mixup. Plus chip damage was a real threat, and many top tiers had divekicks to skip neutral.

I wish they simply made jumps faster, if it were truly necessary to make the game more aggressive, rather than add two more neutral skips

Which makes me wonder. Why did they go from a really agile sim in V to this lame slow as fuck one in 6? Just seems like they wanted to kick the character while he's down.

They probably wanted him to be more of a pure zoner. Also some system changes like parry kills the fireball left/right mix.
