I came, I saw, I conquered.

Hit 3K score once more with predominantly PUGs (about 95% of my keys, I think) throughout my journey. I did the same during S3 and S4 of DF too, but this season was much, much harder to PUG to 3K score. I thank everyone involved in all of my failed keys, as they made me the hunter I am today.

the meta can swing out of favor for mage, but its unlikely since they almost always have at least 1 strong spec
druid has more roles available but usually aren't a best in slot class

you can get i think the cap is 610 gear from it at difficulty 8 which is sort of the cap gear wise
They're long and boring imo. About the size of a regular dungeon. And instead of going the route they should have with more mechanics or more challenging enemies that can appear, it's the exact same enemies and layout and mobs, but they become damage sponges with bloated health bars and insane damage

I am once again bringing up the subject of addons. I believe that they have taken over the game, but not only that, they have also harmed the game. Blizzard allowing this predatory business to flourish has made it so the reigns of WoW gameplay development belong not to the developers in Irvine, but to the addon developers.

Whenever a new or returning player hits the download button to one of the many necessary addons, it is another addition to the many players Blizzard has failed. The customer is no longer "playing" WoW, the game is playing itself for them. You have automated the game in every aspect.

New players don't want to be automated.
Returning players don't want to be automated.

Ban all addons. This is now my undying stance, and I say again: BAN. ALL. ADDONS.

I got a question, I bought wow & tww at christmas, the cheapest one/base edition.
Are these character boosts I own or is it like a button I'd press that would buy one from a shop? I didn't want to boost since I'm playing through other expansions but this stuff is weird, I can't find like an account inventory thing to check.

Level 70 gets you to TWW and level 60 gets you to near TWW? I don't get the differences.

leveling is currently extremely fast because of the timewalking event (a queue for old expansion dungeons which give good exp), so 60 and 70 both save you a chunk of time, but nothing massive
As a beginner your best bet is probably to start your first character from level 1 and then later use those boosts for alts when you want to try other classes and skip the leveling process

Yeah, I've played other MMOs before so I prefer to learn my skills and the game systems as I go so I don't end up in a dungeon having no idea what I'm doing. Might be useful if I want to try another expansion but without the early levels.

Enjoy :) spamming timewalking dungeons will be really fast but I'd personally recommend picking an expansion and leveling through it by doing quests, dragonflight would probably be your best bet for that. Timewalking dungeons barely feel like the same thing as end game dungeons

I feel that because I'm disabled and turboneet, I wanna say if you did wanna get back on track to just contribute to society and talk to people and stuff there are absolutely resources out there for you. I also get this, it's why I chose to not do it. My health condition stopped me but I just can't deal with people, I love working, helping others, I could squeeze out 15-20 hours a week but putting up with people, transport, dealing with all the extra accessibility bullshit, nah.
I definitely get you, it's soul destroying even for healthy normalfags not addicted to wow, it's worse for shutins.
Some people just aren't built for that kinda thing, it's where something like UBI could work out, no pressure to get a job or do this or that, do your own thing, create if you want to, volunteer. It's some good stuff.

I can cope by playing MMOs, meditating and doing physio, that and sleep are good. Introduce the small shit and it falls apart.
Find your comfortable place and live in it; just be mindful of trappings that get you down.

I can appreciate QoL addons and shit like you see here, what I don't appreciate is DBM/bigwigs/cactbot type shit, stuff that shows markers in game of where you should stand, interact with in instanced/battle content. Stuff that tells you what to do that people rely on for their first runs, where they never learn mechanics.
The popup tells you what to do and so you do it. And I'm guilty of it in XIV. I have cactbot open, use it to see vokes/shirks, benediction etc but also for stuff like alliance raid roulette or trial roulette, when you're doing content you've not seen in 8 months and you don't remember what that horse mechanic is in that one stormblood dungeon, so you follow what it says on screen,
That shit is cancer, it's okay in moderation but it contributes to lazy, braindead play.

A clearer UI could help with that. Being able to do things like split your buffs, your targets buffs etc. It's the kinda thing you can do easily with elvui/delv, or a weakaura or a unit frame but in the base game it's hover and deal with the shitty party frames.

Readability on simple information and not duplicating it is important in MMOs.

I've only done from 60 since I last played in Shadowlands, but it's super quick, especially if you get a competent tank who's at a good spot scaling wise (though I've had level 72 tanks who were basically immortal, so I dunno at what point it falls off, if ever)

I have an old stationary with a 970 that I built around mop-wod in my parents house for a total of $1k, and now I play wow with a "GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU" on a laptop

My entire laptop is like 500$ less than the 5080, which is just one part of a pc
Sure I've had to lower most settings to medium/low, but I can still have spell effects and transmog details/texture details or whatever be good without dropping below a comfortable fps

In winters when I'm cold I can just play wow and have it head my hands up :^)

I like BM more, but survival is really fun to play as well. Once it clicks, the gameplay loop is very smooth. It doesn't require too much setup and you have cooldowns pretty much every pull, depending on the rest of the group of course.

It can't really do burst damage, but it can consistently do high damage each pull, so you may be very low compared to others on certain pulls, but overall is pretty good. It is definitely not meta though, so don't expect to get into groups easily.

It has pretty good cc and bursting shot is a really good knockback that you can utilize to make certain fights much easier. Harpoon, disengage and flanking strike are all good gap closers that you can use to do cool stuff, like harpooning to the caster boss at SV Master Machanists fight after Scrap Song for a quick silence if your teammates are idiots.

Here are my binds for reference, I use all of these in combat very actively (except for mend pet), to give you an idea.

I don't know anything about AMD gpus. I stopped using them like 8 years ago because they've been shit by comparison. Was very sad because I'd been using ATI cards since the Radeon 9500.

The 5000-series isn't really worth the money required for the tiny generational performance increase in games. It actually performs worse under certain conditions as well. The drivers are super ultra omega giga-shit too and the last version was bugged and was bricking cards but the point is it's unoptimized and current games aren't setup to utilize the new technology or frame generation.

If you need a new GPU and can get a 4090, brand new, at a good price you'd be well-served going with that. Just don't buy used cards. Who knows how these things are abused by the user if they are being resold second-hand used.

Yeah GPU sales exploded around the start of COVID because people took stimulus cheques to buy GPUs and build mining rigs. But you don't mine with GPUs anymore. That's all done with ASICs now. But AI is extremely hungry for memory bandwidth so GPUs are still going to massively in-demand for some kind of secondary use-case that doesn't include gaming. Modern AMD under Su is weird. They followed Nvidia with increasing TDP for performance but focused on raster first for 2 generations (rdna2/3), next generation (RDNA4 about to release) they're scaling back and offering mid range cards.
FSR is done on card in RDNA4 like DLSS but that's the extent of their big AI push and the rest of general AI is relegated to rocm on linux or WSL.

Kinda but not really.
They offer "competition" but then price cards with $50 under the card it's competing against. There's rumours the 9070/RDNA4 is going to change that but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Whatever nvidia have priced their card at, you can rely on AMD to meet that -$50 usd at least.
Keep in mind, they're the only ones to have been caught price fixing with both Intel & Nvidia multiple times and their CEO happens to be related to Nvidia's CEO/founder. If they start offering good value cards this month: It's going to be because Intel are pressuring them on the low>mid range market.

Both of the big 2 vendors kinda suck in different ways at the moment. The last 6 years have not been kind to the GPU industry desu.

It's kinda sad how things have changed in that space though.
AMD used to have terrible windows drivers & config software when they switched architecture to GCN then RDNA but okay general gaming tools. Now their drivers & tools are good even on Windows. On Linux that side is carried by MESA and now Valve but things like FSR suck compared to DLSS and even XESS running on their cards.
Nvidia used to have 10/10 drivers on windows at the time, now their drivers & config software is buggy garbage on the platform and their linux drivers are still a buggy mess.
but Nvidia also went all in on offering closed source software tools like RTX broadcast app, AI assistants, pushing frame gen and scaling on the GPU, mostly useless but a value add if say you live next to a noisy road. AMD haven't bothered with any of that and then AI tools were being built around nvidias platform.

The driver situation at NV is so bad at the moment that pascal/turing/ampere & now ada cards are performing better on a driver that's a year and a half old, but you'll have to put up with NVCPL and hardware acceleration bugs. You could run a newer driver and test your luck on whether your system will wake from sleep properly, have boost bug out or dealing with driver crashes/display flickering on load. They're all over the place when it comes to standards like vulkan and DX12 support, one issue present in one driver will get fixed then 8 months later there's a regression.

When they were compiling everything for developers it was ATI & AMD who sucked, in the age of adhering to graphics standards now it's nvidia who are struggling.
Both manufacturers have done a complete 180 and consumers deserve better from both parties.

Second of all you dont have to buy elite sets right now they are totally fucking free freest they have ever been.

Like this seasons elite sets mean NOTHING, I got three of them in three days in shuffle and the last one I got by get 442 rating from a single game. going from 1370 to 1812 for going 5 win out of 6 rounds.

It was **STARTING** me at 2000 mm and giving me ~300 rating for breaking even. I never lost rating even in a couple hard counter matches where I went 0/6. Like you have to lose 0/6 like 3 games in a row to lose rating if you even win one round with this inflated MMR your rating climbs.

I cannot take 4chan seriously when there are people ITT who think Legion was bad.

Was the peak of WoW by far. DH most fun new class they've added. Most fun dungeons in an xpac (especially Maw of Souls). Class halls were 10/10 for thematic. Legendary items and artifacts were actually game changing to your rotation. M+. Class specific xmog. I literally cannot find a single issue I had with Legion.

Hammer of Wrath is usable during Avenging Wrath regardless of HP and you want to prioritize that and Blade of Justice because it adds time on Shake the Heavens, but want to keep the Judgment debuff in mind. And then you have procs.
It's one of the best designed dps specs currently.
Yes it's stupid op because the abilities, for some reason, are all ranged, and you can blast your main damage CD every 30 secs. But even if you took that away, the flow is great.
Compared to say warrior, where you have either two overlapping damage CDs, which make no sense not to blow at the same time, or have (like some other specs do) damage CD, which gets its CD reduced by other abilities, so it's then hard to align it with trinkets or other stuff.

Also what the issue you're having?

Yeah that is the big CD.
You may add Final Reckoning to that, it fucks in world content, but for anything else, you want Execution Sentence.
It's funny how ret went from "big dam once every 2 minutes" to "once every 30 seconds with some rng bonuses on top of it" along with a bunch of extremely useful utility as well as battle rez.
Also they have emergency self heal that auto triggers when you drop under certain hp - like they fucking need it with their on-demand heal, damage reduce, absorb bubble, immunity bubble(s) and lay on hands. Which paints the spec like retard friendly (which it is), but if you can get over that stigma, you will have fun, people will want you in a group and you will pump as well as help when needed.
Like I can't remember how many times I prevented a wipe when were progressing m+ with a well timed LoH or just throwing off heals when healer was shitting his panties.

Personally I think it's kinda cringe that the first notable character to die this expansion is the LGBT Icon Gallywix.
Once again Blizzard out here showing not only do they have no respect for the marginalized communities, but their constant push of h*tro-normative relationships comes to an aggressive head with once again H*tros are being allowed to kill gay people.
Not even that, they already teased the death of two H*tro scum characters this expansion, before immediately running it back. But as soon as they decide they actually need a death to show the narrative has consequences and people will die? They choose to bury the gay?
Horrendous. Utterly horrendous. Danuser should've never left, now we're stuck with that Chud Metzen back in charge of the narrative and he's already doing more damage than any previous writer.

If you are exclusively solo you should try making friends. But then you should probably pick Paladin. Double kick, can off-heal with WOG and LOH, can off-dispel, can save retards with BOP or Spellwarding. it's pretty much the ideal pug tank.

There's way too many mounts, systems, factions, etc, etc. Wish they'd start all over with WoW 2. Same story, zones, lore, but adding the best stuff they've come up with like warbands shared items that don't take bank space
