anyone noticed interesting NPC behavior?

I'm a little disappointed, it doesn't seem much expanded beyond the first one. There's sometimes little scripted events like NPCs will start fighting etc, but not much that's actually AI driven. I was hoping to see NPCs with more sandboxy behavior like trying their hand at theft or pickpocketing etc, with all the consequences if they get caught.

Oblivion in 2006 had NPCs that could commit crime like theft or pickpocketing if they wanted something (like food) but didn't have it in their inventory, if their responsibility stat was low. This was why NPCs like City-Swimmer would end up randomly dead, they'd get caught stealing and the Imperial Guards have no mercy.

Modern games with very few exceptions just don't bother with this kind of interesting behavior because normies don't care i guess.

If you use them with a short sword they change the master strike animations. I think the shield animations are actually much shorter and don't fuck up your positioning like the longsword ones do. Other than that I don't think shields do anything because even with a shield Henry will still use the sword to block attacks and simply lets the shield hang.

I remember blocking attacks with the shield, I've certainly seen npcs do it. I think it might be side based, if they attack on the shield side Henry will use that while weapon side he will use the weapon to block.

I would be fine with it. Combat in KCD was always easy and heavily based around character skill, not player skill. While its fairly easy to ruin the combat progression and difficulty from killing one armored bandit, the game is still enjoyable. Having more to unlock and more to do with limited perk points would be quite nice IMO.

I just there was eating animation for Henry, would be nice to see him munch on an apple or what not. Maybe an option to order various meals from taverns that he eats in first person like the stews from the pots. Same with drinking alcohol.

Armor feels about like it should IMO. Bows and crossbows that have a low draw weight don't do any damage to you, and their projectiles quite literally bounce off of you with a nice "plink".
As for the high level enemies, it happens. Once you get around a weapon skill of 25+ they stop being an issue unless they are grouped up.

My problem with armor is that there's such a massive difference in survivability that I end up using heavy armor even when I'm sneaking because I've gotten killed in two hits when I get caught with thief gear.

make sure it's yellow hot and sparks come off at every strike. You don't need to hit the entire piece or even flip it. Just go between two spots. If you hear the clang and see the sparks you're good.

You should be slightly tankier out of armor, but its just about right. Being hit with bladed objects and hammers is pretty brutal and a good way to be disabled quickly, if not killed.

You either have to damn good at the masterstrike/clock meta or rely on armor. There's a reason everyone who could afford it had it. It doesn't make you invincible but it helps you tank those minor hits that would have taken you out before.

Thats fair. Honestly I am fine with it but I can see others not enjoying it. It makes my pp hard taking out 4 armed soldiers with master strike finishers dressed in fancy dancy clothing without getting it.
I do want to test out one of the mods that changes the armor to be 3x more effective to stop enemies dying so fast at high levels. It feels like you can kill anyone in 3-4 hits once you get to end game, and it gets pretty boring

I had that, and also spent like 10 hrs just trying to figure out a way to get my rep from 0 to 100. Turns out all you need to do is complete sidequests. They award like 30 global reputation(at least the poachers one did) and paying the indulgence gets you to 35.

Neat. I had been beginning to notice how shitty Herring is, but I hadn't been compelled to buy a new horse. Now he's pretty awesome.

Other horses at stables will often have a single stat better than the buffed Red Herring, but overall Herring is the best choice. It makes me wonder if "all" horses can get a perk buff. I'm going to just continue using Herring until I can find a horse better than it in all stats (and then hope THAT horse can get perk to become a super horse)

Reach can be a disadvantage in 1 vs 1 combat. What do you do with all that reach when your opponent has a kite shield? Don't sleep on Fleeting Shadow and Lawbreaker. I ignored those kinds of perks for so long because I'm not the kinda guy who gets caught committing a crime and running away. I learned that they proc just from having somebody look for you with suspicion and that's as easy as making noise or opening a locked door. It's really easy to get those perks going.

Jews and Embracer is what happened. Reading about the Tudor period post Jew expulsion makes it pretty clear why they were hated. They rented out tools (expensive ones for agriculture like ploughs) for absurd prices and if you couldn't pay them they would leave you high and dry with no money and no way to farm. Thats not even getting on the topic of actual loans, which were worse.
With them gone, people actually had enough money to feed, house and clothe their 5+ kids and themselves comfortably, with enough left over for savings. Post harvest they had enough time to dedicate to building public works and churches out of free will. Their economic prosperity and quality of life was easily comparable to the 50's USA.

Its estimated that they paid 1/2 of their earnings in tithes and dues to escape work obligations (optional), and had the rest left over, where as half my paycheck gets me a shitty apartment in the run down part of town. They also had massive amounts of time off between sowing and harvest, and post harvest seasons. A few months in total. Its absurd.

Its certainly a problem I have had when discussing the topic, or any topic, about the medieval period with friends. The actual way they lived was fairly comfortable and less strenuous then the way colonial Americans lived due to having less fallow land to clear and cultivate, as well as building communities instead of getting 300 acres+ for a single family.
The only work that I can see being really grueling was actually womens work, with laundry and such. That shit is monotonous and awful.

You can actually somewhat prevent that by sowing the crops to the correct depth, spacing them evenly and taking linen/cotton sheets to cover them. I grew up farming and thats how we always stopped out beans, oats and melons from getting nipped by the cold and increasing yields. AFAIK, they broad casted seeds in the medieval period, which didn't do much for helping propagation. It just meant tons of pests and tons of wasted seed grain.

Absolutely, and its partly the reason why Americans (myself included) think the medieval period was so shit. Our ancestors had to clear tons of land, dig out root bulbs, plant foreign seeds that weren't acclimated to the climate or soil, pray they sprouted and take their meager harvest to the next year. It was awful. It also doesn't help they bit off way more then they could chew as far as land is concerned. It wasn't uncommon for a single family to try to farm hundreds of acres by themselves even up until fairly recently (1900s), when medieval peoples would have their own garden + their household allotment to farm/harvest. The difference in farming difficulty is night and day.

There was also the general big push that started during the medieval era to get rid of all religions and cultures that weren't the main one, so the lords wouldn't have to deal with more than one different widespread opinion or set of laws, and the church starting to relate them to Judas but not to Jesus. Obviously owing money would be the main cause for resentment from the general populace, but there were other vaguer (from their pov) causes that'd lead a jew to think people just have it out for them. If Henry can specifically pinpoint the debts thing then it's not like the game isn't acknowledging the exact problem, you're just getting the biased opinion of a specific jew character.

Yes. Oxen were cheaper to feed, and often had less power than a draught horse but were a bit more stable and easier to guide. They also used up more space and ate more but you could get milk and meat from them and people didn't do either from horses unless they were desperate.
Draught horses on the other hand weren't used until much later, and were more powerful and often required less grazing space. They were quicker on the turn and could pull much heavier loads.
Both animals had their drawbacks and benefits, but oxen were much more common and cheaper. I think I recall reading both excelled at different types of soil, but I honestly forget which is which.

small hold farms were still fairly common though. My grandfather grew up in very rural Appalachian Kentucky in the 1930s without running water or electricity. I can't remember how big he said the farm was but it wasn't very large. They worked it themselves until his father died and his brothers either left home (went to factories or coal mines) or to the army for ww2. When it was just my grandfather and one younger brother (grandpa would have been around 15ish) his mom sold the farm and moved them into town rather than have them work themselves to death trying to do everything themselves.

TBF, most farmers were farming crops that were worth almost nothing in large quantities, like tobacco, on too large of land. In most cases it was better to scale down their farm to feed themselves and have their children or the father go to work in a factory.

my grandfather actually loved farming, it was his mom that sold the farm not him. He said he was perfectly fine working it but did say eventually something had to give because it wasn't sustainable. At 16 he got hired on at a dairy farm and worked there for about 2 years with them even offering him basically a job as a full time long term employee. but his mother didn't want him doing that his entire life and sent him up north to get a factory job, where his brother-in-law worked (and pulled some strings) to get him hired. He loved to garden and grow things and did so basically until he died in his 80s.

I did a little testing and I can only get Henry quality in the free play mode after you finish the story. Maybe it has something to do with the sword being a special quest item. It seemed like I was only able to get rank 3 on other weapons that have that golden glow.

You need to choose the right ending so that you can keep the sword and reforged it later to tier 4. When Martin and your mother asks what life you want seek in the future you need to pick "I wand to adventure" or "I'll be an warrior", if you select "start a family" or "star a business" Henry won't accept the sword when Radzig is giving it back.

Now that you have selected the right ending, Radzig will gift you his sword, which will be renamed "Henry's Longsword." You can now reforge it to tier 4.

I think it's a bug because it's a quest item, so it can't be reforged till Henry gets it at the end when it's no longer a quest item.

I gave the arrow to Peshek and, as he requested, I shot him in the head with it. I could've talked him out of it or given the arrow to Hare for sure, but I really wanted to see what would happen. I'm actually a little bit curious what would've happened if I shot him in the body instead or, embarrassingly, if I missed. I imagine they would've all attacked me if I flat out missed. Just did the Feast/Exodus. I find that this back half of the story really has alot more glitchty cutscenes and weird issues, very similar to how Act 3 of BG3 was. Playable, Ill reach the credits, but noticeably more weird shit.

In early game, you can get 3 pieces of Frankfurt Steel from the Blacksmith's chest in Samine Fort (not the town). At night, in a barn on the south corner of the fort property, there is a "Blacksmith's Chest Key" hanging on a pillar right near the horse trader, first floor. What is the single hardest enemy in the game on the first map that you can go fight immediately upon leaving the tutorial?

I haven't found a single difficult enemy in this entire game. Everything can easily be cheese'd down even 4v1.

So far the hardest hitting and highest armored enemy was a group of 4 Cumans with the strongest sabers at the very eastern side of the map, but I have yet to find anything harder hitting or more armored.

I think the "two bandits robbing a peasant" was supposed to be a demonstration that there are fights you shouldn't get involved in, especially when you're a peasant with no armor
but then I poisoned him and got armor that made me almost invincible in early game so idk if that was a good choice

Crossbows are better DPS than guns, right? A bit less damage but much fire reload and firing. I tried carrying around multiple guns since you can preload them unlike crossbows but weapon swapping is so slow it doesn't work

- gun kills in 1 hit, long reload speed
- bow/crossbow also kills in 1 hit with Bane, short reload speed

The fact Musa calls Europeans "barbarians whose knowledge burned with Rome" is extremely amusing to me. It pretty on point for modern shitskin talk regarding Europeans so the characterization is great, probably not the authors intent. The only way to make combat more difficult is to remove the HUD and get rid of the slow-mo effect. You can really only do one of these things currently, which is probably a good idea once you start mogging everyone.
KCD1 also had this issue. Once you remove the hud and get rid of the riposte/master strike slo-mo the game becomes much harder but also more rewarding.

you would think in medieval combat, especially with some combinations of your weapon, your skill level and enemy being pathetic, limbs would be chopped off easily.

But did someone see you in the general vicinity of the guild? People take note of that shit and then report you as a suspect the next day. In 2 to not get a bounty you have to actually plan when are you going to steal shit, make sure no one realizes you were even close to the scene of the crime.

Also, just pass time to get rid of the bounty. With reduction perks it takes me about two days for it to go away for a thievery, dunno if you have the perks or how much more important the crime is in your case.
