A smart studio with the halo license right off of 3 and Reach would have taken the opportunity to expand on the story that just finished by showing the many other theaters of the human/covenant war and the covenant civil war. Vehicles like the Warthogs are cooperative by nature. Using a Warthog as a moving turret should be cumbersome since it's the unintended (not necessarily wrong) way to use said vehicle.

If it isn't at least as expansive as ruby's rebalanced CE then it's just wasted potential. CE remake should have the weapons and vehicles introduced later in the series as well as bigger battles expanded (but not reworked) maps. But Infinite demolished any hopes I had that 343 would learn how to make a good campaign level so maybe they should leave the maps alone

The Gungoose is Halo. The Mongoose is also Halo, but so is The Library. So I would prefer the Gungoose's Halo. The Gungoose doesn't need to be OP or even try to compete with the Ghost, it just needs to let the driver be able to do something besides being a 100% free target for a Scorpion. Even infantry can shoot back with a magnum or AR. Or if not a gungoose, then maybe let us shoot sidearms like the Halo 2 pistol or Halo 3 SMG, since the will defintely bring back dual-wielding in Halo CEboot I'm sure. But I'd rather have a gungoose with dual-welded ARs (Yeah, welded).

Maybe you can even have variants. Dual-welded shotguns, dual-welded plasma pistols, dual-welded ravagers, etc.

I would remove them from normal matchmaking but have them show up in customs/action sack/fiesta(gungoose version). I think transport vehicles are a waste in Halo. The driver should always have some kind of weapon whether it's strong or weak. At least it gives them something to do rather than just drive.

I think that a weaponless driver is a good thing. He should be focused on avoiding damage, providing firing angles for his crew, and getting to the objective. That's enough to do without adding farming the enemy for k/d to the list. There are other vehicles for that.

I dig it. If it's too strong, reduce the lunge range to the default and remove one of the sword slashes since you would also have the splatter damage so it's still basically a kill if you can line up the lunge correctly.

Why do we need 2 of them per team in every Slayer BTB match? If you don't to give it a gun, then remove it and put a ghost or chopper in there. It just takes up space because no one uses them, and if you do, you just gave the other team a free kill/double kill. It's useless in slayer. That's fine for CTF, but on slayer no thanks. Trying to use it to steal the other team's vehicles is dishonest and dishonorable behavior. Replace it with a ghost or chopper so we can encourage more honest gameplay. If you want to be sneaky go for the active camo powerup, don't just use a mongoose to steal the other team's tank the whole match, that's despicable.

3: Basicically perfect but the MP is just a dumbed down 2 (worse sword, worse BR, great maps but still worse than 2's, no button combos, equipment). Very fun and very good but if you were gonna play 3 why not just play 2 instead?
2A: Good as long as maps with speed boost are avoided, but similarily to 3 it is just a dumbed down 2.
Reach: Good storytelling, non canon, not great art, absolute trash MP.
ODST: meh
4: Trash but at least the MP is not as bad as Reach
5: Trash campaign. MP is a lot of fun but not nearly as good as the original trilogy
6: Ghosting through other players as if it is RuneScape what the actual fuck, trash game, still rather play it than Reach though

It is "common" knowledge that is easily accessible to the average person in 2025, yet you must likely don't know the answer.

It's a run and gun game. You're supposed to be going for power weapons since they drop faster. The AR is an excellent close range secondary with a more dependable beat down. But obviously anyone that runs around with it is retarded.

It ends up working great in 2v2 because it's something entirely in your control. The only problem with anything higher or lower is that it's pretty much completely random.
But there's solutions to that in later games, like giving spawn influence to the player you're looking at on the death camera.

Objectively speaking CR pkays great in 2v2, and I still have fun with it in other modes as well, but the newer games all made objective improvements for anything over 2v2.

I think the only way to portray it better would have been to use a Spartan IV as the playable character and leave Chief in his cryopod. Using Chief with all the advanced Spartans means you need to make the IVs stupid or otherwise offputting somehow to keep Chief the coolest cat in the room.

The original direction they were going with the whole SIV thing I kind of liked. The whole "you're trying to replace him" foreshadowing, then with Chief having a moral compass in 5 and Osiris being just a do-as-your-told static stormtrooper squad was clearly leading to something. Chief was more human than machine. Plus that flash forward quote that we will never see now, "I have spent enough time with ONI to know how this works. Once this is all over, they will order you to kill us both."
I'm not a 343simp, but if I disagree with /hg/ on anything regarding their stories, it's more on the basis of execution than the raw story beats. I would have rather they just stayed committed to their vision, as headcanon and fanficy as it often felt, than just soft reboot with Infinite.

There was a clear multi-game arc involving ONI being one of the big bads that got shafted along with the Prometheans, Empress Codtana, etc etc.
I really don't care that they did away with that.
What I don't like is that they didn't do a hard reboot. They tried to split the baby and keep it canon which results in 98% of Infinite's campaign having to explain it all away even though it happened off screen

Is basically what the chat looked like after I appeared in the intro animation thing. Carried on for about a minute until he quit.
I have absolutely no idea what his problem was. Seething that he doesn't have Mark VI gen 3 and found out he was only 10% of the way to hero rank? Since that's what I was using and he was platinum something career rank.

MCC on Xbox struggles to remember that you've set weapons switching to the scroll wheel on mouse and keyboard. Very cool, 343. I just love it when I can't reliably switch weapons when playing Halo 2. It's great when you're playing Legendary and can't reliably pull out an Energy Sword when Flood are charging you. You have to reset the game or Xbox to fix this. I mostly play on PC, but this is inexcusably stupid.

my gripe with last resort is the same as with all h3 maps in comparison to their predecessors. too much clutter, too many extra zones and crevices. it just makes the map feel too busy. halo maps are best with clean and simple spaces

I like Kelly's Helmet in Infinite. Blue Team should be all green though. I wish Reach didn't force the power ranger stuff on spartans. We'll never be able to take them seriously. Also, what is up with Linda's helmet. They gave her the ugliest helmet I have ever seen.

The power ranger stuff started with ODST, and maybe could be excused for spartan 3s and 4s because they're all obnoxious, but I agree that Blue Team should have stayed green. Armor configurations and HUD markers should be enough to differentiate Spartans. Side note, I really liked how Reach gave you the names of the marine fire team assisting you and gave them HUD markers so you could tell them apart at a distance while they remained in uniform. If only they kept it that simple for the spartans.

Some of the ODSTs in 3 had a colored stripe on their pauldrons, the ones in H3ODST just had color on their shoulders, chests, and a stripe on their helmets. They were still largely black. Not even close to what Noble Team looked like.

Halo 2 didn't age the worst it got better due to pure nostalgia. I was young during Halo 2 but old enough to remember how much a lot of Halo players absolutely disliked or at least though it was a watered down casual friendly game compared to the first. The Bungie.net forums were constant complaints about the pop up cutscenes. Cliffhanger ending. The Arbiter and dozens more things. It made a good number of Halo 1 fans turn to other games or PC.
