My biggest issue is the map design...
Were they created for an art competition or for an ARPG game?
It looks like they've never played an ARPG game. Force them to play those POE2 maps for 48 hours and ask them how they feel.
Adding checkpoints to the maps was a good idea, but the execution was terrible. You placed the first one at the start and the others in the farthest corners, hidden behind rare enemies. Combined with the implemented map light radius, which makes them nearly impossible to see, they end up being worthless in most cases.

90% of the maps are atrocious to play with league mechanics. Endless narrow corridors, doors, and obstacles everywhere—how are these supposed to work with mechanics like Breach, Expedition, or Ritual.

like how combining 3 items takes time and has an animation instead of being able to mass vendor

or like how mobs have incredibly overdone stun animations and will literally stagger back at light speed when they get stunned which fucks over melee even harder than it already is. legitimately just pay attention just how far naga and spider mobs bounce when you stagger them. or even worse, the huge fucking skeletons or incorporeal ghosts even have to get knocked back at least a hitbox's worth of distance. I have no clue why they couldn't just make stars circle around their head and immobilize them when they get stunned.

So now that its evident PooP2 is not in EA phase but in released game phase, how would you rank it?
To me its 4/10 at best. Campaign has 1 good act out of 3, build diversity is inexistent and endgame is dogshit.
Pros are nice visuals and addictive nature.

This doesn't feel like an early access/beta approach to game dev at all, it looks like POE2 is already being treated like a fully released game. When people complained about being nerfed a week into EA release they (mostly) weren't complaining about the nerfs themselves, but rather the fact that they couldn't respec or play anything else and had to make a new character.

GGG you literally talked about giving people free respecs if they got nerfed before EA release and then never did it (even though its literally free and to your benefit) and then somehow got surprised people reacted negatively, but then on top of all that completely misunderstood why people were upset thinking you can't nerf anything before an economy reset.....

This post does not fill me with confidence sadly. They'll eventually get it right I'm sure but maybe POE2 needs another 2 or 3 years to cook

Been there, did the endgame, found nothing to sink my teeth into, and that was that. I'm not going to grind T16 to infinity with no way to pinpoint farms, layouts, and tailor my experience to what I find fun. I can't actually work towards anything in POE2, you just aimlessly grind and sometimes get lucky. It's incredibly listless gameplay.

Nothing to look forward to when logging in, and the fact that there is no player agency in your endgame experience puts a massive magnifying glass on every single annoyance that exists in mapping. The fact that I have no choice makes every single dogshit map layout, getting shoved around, and feelsbad rituals ridiculously punishing on the psyche. I did about 50 T16 maps and straight up logged out. Too much frustration, not enough agency, and nothing to actually target. You just login, kill random stuff for a while while doing maps in random directions, and hope to drop something good. Yawn.

Everytime I login to POE1 I have a plan and purpose to the next 4-8-12-24 hours of gameplay. I'm trying to accomplish something and I have specifically tailored my experience towards maximizing that goal. As long as POE2 does not offer that agency, it's not worth playing past the acts. Especially if the very act of mapping just sucks. Look there are plenty of gripes about POE1 endgames and the reddit has pounded them endlessly, but I guarantee you this that I put up with a lot in POE1 with a huge grin on my face because I chose to deal with whatever annoying ass thing exists about whatever league mechanic i'm farming. The annoyances are now apart of the contract. And some league mechanics are flat out so annoying there isn't any rewards in the game that'll make me do them. So I don't. I block them on my atlas and never touch it.

So all the people posting that the current end game was a place holder were wrong. It's all here to stay, the next major update is likely minor buffs that change nothing, nerfs that upset a lot of people exploiting stuff, more power creep OP uniques, and likely adding more "FRICTION" to end game.

I think I'm 100% done. PoE is dead to my friends and I. PoE2 is more PoE1-Alternate edition with added "FRICTION".

It really really really seems like they started trying to make a different game in the acts but gave up and went back to what they believe works, but then took it in a more extreme direction. Sure less complexity, but there's more "FRICTION".

I was hoping for changes to core loot design (make loot only drop with affixes near item level), or methods to upgrade affixes on loot, or an auction house, or letting us revive in maps or just run them infinitely, or removing some punishments from end game. Nope, nothing. I hope everyone who keeps playing enjoys their "FRICTION".

That one dude who waited A MONTH for a "reset" button for his absolutely broken atlas sure is happy right now. Come to think of it, what on earth is going on with the dev team? We have confirmation that there is ONE guy working on the trade website (hence why it's so underdeveloped) and that there is ONE guy working on the Atlas (hence why it's so bugged, and hence the month long wait because that one single dev just went on a 3 week vacation). It sure feels like there's nobody working on this game at all, but then we also now know that there was nobody working on poe1 for the past half a year either. AND now we also know they're reallocating resources for poe1. Are there like 5 people total working on this? What in the world is even happening in this company.

The more I play the game the more I realize the systems in the game are only ever coincidentally something fun. The game by design only ever does things to waste your fucking time. Just think about resists and how they're not a mechanic, it's essentially just mandatory to get default 75% cap just to function in endgame. Then think about the fact that the way to get resists is primarily through jigsawing together a set of gear all of which rolls random affixes. Ok, you got your starter set of gear. Then a couple hours later you find or buy an upgrade but guess what? The resists are different so you have to spend time shuffling your gear around to accomodate the new upgrade while also maintaining your resists. it can be fun to strategize and plan out a build and work around the loot you get but after a certain point it just becomes really obvious that even if you enjoy it, they designed the system to waste your fucking time on purpose, not for you to enjoy it.

it's the same reason why doors that gate your progress exist in temple of chaos. it's the same reason loading screens are literally mostly fake and you can move your character in the new map even while the fake loading screen continues to play. it wasn't some aesthetic decision, it was literally designed to waste your fucking time, and not in the fun way like how vaal orbs add a layer of funny korean gacha to endgame gearing, which is an example of them developing something interesting completely by accident while searching for mechanics they can add into the game to waste your time.

Devs treated this like a real league not a testing. Everyone is exploiting playing Spark and nobody is playing the weak builds. You are afraid to balance in a test early access league.

The second I realized how over powered my Spark was I rerolled to the weakest class Witch Hunter. Thinking its a testing. But I was just punished and tortured. It ended not being a real testing.

The way PoE 2 was treated was a real league and the first league of PoE 2. Leagues use to last 3 months. Now it feels like you guys are not capable or making any leagues for 6-12 months.

You do not deserve the players you have playing the game. I would bet on PoE 2 failing. Making a second great game after a first is very rare.

We all have different reasons we are disappointed, and most of them are derived in GGG overselling themselves, exacerbated by a loyal community, and coming out about it after it was entirely too late. This is a move that spells greed and lacks the transparency they are so well known for.

When GGG experienced the socially engineered data breach in mid-late December, people had their accounts accessed from unauthorized third parties and lost in-game currency as a result. This is obviously pretty terrible in itself, but there is another issue that isn't being discussed.

Some people that had their PayPal information saved as a payment method for Path of Exile had 4x early access keys purchased on their account totaling $120 USD. GGG uses XSolla for payments on their website which is flagged as an automatic payment and bypasses the need for confirming the purchase through PayPal. These keys that were fraudulently purchased are then sold on third party websites. This then leads to people that purchased a key on these websites randomly losing access to PoE 2 because these keys were charged back through PayPal due to them being fraud. I'm not defending the use of chargebacks for this, but this did occur approximately a week before Christmas and money is tight for a lot of people. With GGG being out of the office at the time and not being able to respond to these issues in a timely manner, many were left without a choice like myself. Anyone that went the route of issuing these chargebacks is now locked out of their account and have been for nearly two months at this point.

I'd really like to bring some more light to this issue and for it to possibly be investigated further by GGG because this happened to too many people for it to be a coincidence. Looking at the forums, GGG has not responded to anyone that has had this issue occur including myself and this problem first arose more than a month and a half ago at this point. If payment information was truly leaked or if purchasing packs was possible for the unauthorized user like it seems that it was through the automatic payment bypass, this needs to be disclosed by GGG.

Personally it's by far the best 'modern' IsoARPG. It's overall well made and thought-out (neither of which can be said for nu-PoE). If you have to ask, it's for sure worth giving it a good try. It's dirt-cheap on special (including the DLC which are really good too).

the potion system is just nostalgic at this point. D2 (and D1 to a certain extent) is still the one ARPG you should play if you are new to the genre, because everything else is just a copy from it, and the general sound design and art direction are unmatched to this very day.

DE looks good. Crucible is kinda 'whatever' but decent. It has an amazing utility for speed-running alt characters but you don't need to care about it for now. The other two DLC are expansions and you want them for sure. Both have acts, classes, skills, new mechanics/NPC/choices etc.

PoE1+2 try to be dark fantasy like d2, but they constantly drift into modern comic book fantasy with their overall design (supervillian bosses like from american comic books, too many bright areas especially in act 3, strong independent women inserts, way less gore). dark fantasy design wise, poe2 takes a nosedive after act 1 and only recovers on the last two levels of act 2, while diablo 2 constantly bombards you with sword and sorcery tropes until the very end.

An actually interesting concept that is heavily held back by numerical weakness and gross misunderstanding of their own systems. It provides no damage on its own and it provides no defenses. You can say "stunning an enemy is defense" but you can also just do more damage for the same result. Concentration break requires you to do 40% of a mob's HP without them getting stunned or frozen first because they have massive penalties to stun/freeze/concentration damage taken until a long while later to the point that it's not really a viable option. It also has anti-synergy with Culling Strike, HP that doesn't exist is HP you can't concentration break during. Does have synergy with Decimating Strike at least, but again RNG bullshit.

Finally, some damage. However, it's tied to the still-terrible Concentration gimmick. It's also at best 30% when Titan gets 40% consistently.

There are two types of builds that could be considered meta at the moment: the stat-stacker and the Temporalis builds.

Both share the same problem – you get stuck on every corner and edge, which is obviously due to the very specific map layouts.

If you want to go mapping, you first have to deal with this issue, not to mention that most maps are simply not fun. If I see a Seepage or something similar, I just have to close the game because I have zero motivation to run a layout like that. And often, there’s no way around these layouts.

And once you're actually mapping, you have to click every single splinter, making it feel like a click simulator. Alternatively, you could just run Sekhemas permanently, but that’s not really fun either.

The fact that there's no information on when 0.2.0 will drop means that I won’t be playing until then. On top of that, I honestly can’t imagine PoE2 being finished in just a year.

That honestly makes me a bit sad.

5- map layouts.
I just hope the people responsible for mire, 2 vaal maps, stone citadel are forced to run them nonstop for 48 hours so they realize how bad they are. I have nothing to say about layout, except for how they bad and long and tedious etc.

I have so much more to say but I doubt it makes any difference. Every time I read this announcement it's just reeks of blizzard's "Do you guys not have phones?" and bethesda's "Upgrade your PC".

What is the best avenue of providing constructive feedback to GGG? I don't feel like some of my core issues with the game were properly discussed in this post. I feel like part of playing early access like this is to test out these things and provide proper feedback about what feels great and what doesn't

The post feels very much like "These are the things we have done" (which is good) but the way I'm reading it I don't see my issues being adressed which is why I'd love for some more direct line of communication for feedback. Public posts like here on Reddit or similar can very quickly be discouraging to the devs because people aren't always as civil as they should be

My biggest issues just lay in the endgame experience overall at the moment, and I would love for them to use this time they have early access to experiment and do bigger changes to it to see what actually feels good, some notes:

One portal design feels really really bad, I really don't enjoy the process of juicing the maps currently by spending a ton of time to path towards towers that I breeze through regardless just so that I can throw in a breach and hope the randomly generated map layouts aren't too bad + them landing on some decent ones. Nothing makes me want to alt+f4 and play something else like dragging myself through this process, randomly getting oneshot by something and then having to still clear a relatively empty map just so I can move onto the next one where it could happen again

Dying is already somewhat punishing making you lose 10% experience. You can still encourage clearing things deathless like dropping bonus currency if you complete the map without deaths etc. You can do 3 portals instead as a grace and protection from randomly getting oneshot, 0 deaths = bonus rewards, 1-2 death = You get the chance to recover without being as generous as the 6-portals from poe1

This post is a massive red flag. It sounds like there isn't any work being done at all. Plus no mention of crafting or gear fixes (the unique overhaul needs ANOTHER overhaul), and doubling down on towers, which should frankly just be removed. Also still no waystone tab, and no backing down on the 1 death per map, which was a total mistake. Almost every map layout is not fun to run.

We need more frequent and reliable updates than these vague promises. It's EA, and these content patches seem more like they're gearing it like leagues - but not. It's almost like the devs are all split doing different things, but they only come up with one bug fix at the end of their shift.

As a casual player I don't really mind the one portal mechanic and you losing your map mechanics and waystones.

Hear me out. I play the game not min-maxing anything. I get that there are some people that want to juice their maps, spending hours or even a few days doing it. But I don't do that. I Transmute, Augment, Regal, Exalt and Vaal my waystone then run it without looking. If I die, then I die. Losing a waystone and a couple of currencies doesn't really affect me, even in SSF.

As for losing league mechanics it doesn't really bother me. The Atlas is supposedly infinite and if that's true then there will be another chance to try again. For people that min-maxes their atlas to run the juciest maps if they die then it would mean they lost hours, if not days, of prep time to get that one map. But I don't do that so I just keep progressing waiting for another chance to do the league mechanic or even citadel.

And when you die you lose your drops; I never really get people not picking up their drops. I always pick stuff valuable to me in the middle of mapping. I even portal out to sell and stash them so I can pick up more stuff. I do get that some builds can't really do this, like a Demonform stacker since they lose their stacks so that does suck for them.

Who knew that min-maxing a game would suck the fun out if it, huh. Any other casual players feel like this, or just me?

You need better GGG Developer communications on the forums. People need to know why something may not work and what might work. What's doable and what's not.
That said; as noted by others, I like the idea of better crafting options than loot, ID, slam, brick - ad infinitum.
Also, many "OLD ARPGs" (Grim Dawn, Titan's Quest, Diablo, Torchlight, etc.) have an inventory sort button. It isn't a new feature in gaming/coding, and goes a long way, from a QoL perspective.
Come on, GGG - get with the times.

Those thousands players playing right now arent making them money.
They only make them money during sales and Leagues launches through MTX.
So from GGG point of view it doesn't matter that much how many players play the game in between the league launches.
All that matters for them is how many people play it (and thus buy new cosmetics) at leagues launch week.
And you can bet quite some people will show up.
Doesn't mean what GGG is doing right now is smart though. The more they show they don't care the less people will have faith in them and less people will show up to buy MTX next time.

Nah, that's regular price. The resists are great, worth 1 div for sure, but the rest aren't that good. Life roll is too low, acc sucks, phys damage is nice but it's meh.
Also it's corrupted without quality.

The following issues are not a result of EA but GGG being inept:

>Conversion causes your damage to forget its original type, further limiting your options
>The only way to scale spells are all relative to the spells base damage, there are basically no sources of flat added damage to spells, this is to prevent you from using utility skills as main skills
>Minion AI is somehow even worse than it was in PoE 1 and that's assuming they fix the body blocking
>They for some reason thought ranged doesn't have enough of an advantage over anything melee that they allowed them to attack/cast while moving, surely this won't cause a permanent balancing nightmare
The problem isn't that these are scuffed and in the EA, the problem is that they made it into a live build in the first place, every single one of these issues should've been caught during development.
They are inept.

Poe1 used pretty generic animations for each archetype but this game has near custom animations for everything. Things that proc when you do other things are in other arpgs, its a cool mechanic its just that theres very little other options and its too powerful as is.

Grim dawn has tons of items with "10% chance for lightning bolt on attack" etc and devotions that trigger things for example, you can make fun builds with it but its not the only option and not so overpowered its ubiquitous.
