The contrast in tone is what makes it a great content that fits in great. You're constantly on the back foot with your team, fighting swaths of enemies, putting out fires and fighting setbacks day in and day out. You're ordered on shore leave to rest a bit and there you run into a convoluted scheme to take you out. But because you and your team are so hyper competent they see it as an exhibition match and use it to unwind.

DAO is 100% worth it, it might be a bit of a hassle to get it running properly on a modern machine but it is still one of the best RPGs ever made. None of the other franchises, not TES, BG etc. can compare to the world building and rich lore.

The only game that was explicitly about a Blight and archdemons was Origins. (the introduction to the setting and lore)
2 introduced red lyrium and Varric, who links the next two games. (corruption, magic, and big societal upheaval)
Inquisition expanded on Fade/spirits/demons. Set up for the return of the final boss(Solas/Evanuris) and the great leader(Inquisitor) of the story, who faced multiple world-shaking events and spurred more societal upheaval.
Veilguard was largely about the Evanuris and a starting of a new better age. OR it should've been. At it's core it wasn't. It was a leadership simulator loosely pieced together by false promises of deep characters and story writing. Solas, Inquisitor, the Evanuris, blight, and archdemons were tools to give you reasons to do leadership things so you could enrich your companions lives.

But to answer your question they couldn't have made each game entirely standalone because they are all part of one over-arcing story. Even DA2 was a part of the tapestry even if it is more self-contained. Or maybe they just pulled bullshit out of their ass the whole way through. I dont know and I dont really care anymore.

Studio interference. EA pushed down on the DA team and 2 was released one year after Awakening. Whereas ME had an average of 3 years between each release. DA2 was rushed, had budget cuts and was also cut content from another orgins expansion pack. Only Inqusition felt like it had a big budget and narrative that gave bioware time to cook something up.

Mythal asked him to join the world for his counsel and then ignored it. Raised herself as a goddess and refused to join his fight to liberate their people from their corrupt brethren. It got her killed and he messed up the world while trying to save it from the remaining gods. The retcon comes from the end of the 3rd game, he kills her and takes her power so that he can fix what he messed up and she comforts and allows him. When the scene is replayed in the 4th game she argues against it and guilts him for his effort before letting him kill her.

Solas in Inquisition wants to fix the world. People will die but it will reconnect the elves with their history. So like I said him bringing the impoverished remnants of his people together, out of the woods and the slums. Like he's doing it out of principles. Solas in Veilguard wants to fix the world but he wants to do it because it returns to the world Mythal wanted, which I guess is a glorious Elvhen empire without slavery despite her worshipers likely having slaves. Who fucking knows because it's never described, shown, or expanded on.

VG wasn't as much the last nail in Bioware's coffin as much as the last muscle spasm from the already dead gay horse currently on the way to the glue factory. EA has already killed much better studios before for way less. No fucking way they stay around long enough to shit all over Mass Effect again.
Not that ME4 won't still happen mind you. EA's just going to pass off the franchise to a different studio. In any other context this would be seen as a bad thing, but its not like anyone else could possibly pozload it and fuck it up any worse than modern Bioware could.

Taash basically breaks the mold. Most of the other companions in Veilguard are just too nice and friendly all the time, while Taash stands apart and feels different. They can be blunt and insensitive to others, but at the same time you can see they have a good heart. I love how confrontational their banter with other companions is at first, but as it goes on, it becomes polite and Taash starts showing empathy for others. I also just love Taash's relationship with their mom and how caring she is. I don't know, Taash unironically feels like the most believable companion to me in Veilguard lol.

I doubt it would help. gaming laptops (especially low tier ones) have really poor cooling, especially for the CPU
atleast check a few reviews for it. it will save you a few headaches

I still would recommend a desktop. if you want it for playing older games I bet even a AMD APU would work just fine
but again, watch reviews for that model/ see how it runs games you like

It's decent desu, I enjoyed it more than DA2. Characters are decent, Cassandra is cute, revisiting events from the Origins is nice, castle is Kino. The first zone you're placed in has a very ubisoft open worldy feel, but the catch is you don't have to do any quests there immediately. Do a few then dip out and do other things, you can then revisit it when you want.

Playing through Trespasser on my DAI replay, and wondering what to go to next, DA2 or Origins.

I’d love to play a dwarf again in origins, but I find the combat a slog, and tend to abandon replays half way through.

DA2 is shorter and one I always enjoy replaying, and I’ve also never played a warrior through it, so might be fun. But I replayed it only a year and a half ago
