You don't need to show your gamertag, just make sure the pic is in the correct resolution.

(Side note, if for thread 2000 we do another list format like for 1000, you would need to include your gamertag for that, but that's months away)

Halo 3 in MCC has a lot of retarded armor options that really clash with the Halo aesthetic.
But some of the H2A armor is also super ugly. I would look at both of those options if the goal is to make the guy just look ridiculous.

I really hate how un-modular Halo mods are. I don't even want full on Bethesda modding autism but literally anything would be better.
It's somehow even more retarded than Quake, because at least there you can mix maps and assets despite being stuck with one codebase. Shoving everything in map files really is the worst of all worlds.

Unironically Go-kart racing like Mario Kart. It would have a battle mode too. Different racetracks inspired by different Halo locations. Bunch of vehicles with different characters. (Chief on a warthog with 2 marines, A Grunt in a Ghost, a Brute in a Chopper, Arbiter in a Banshee, etc.) Speed boosts, Active Camo and Overshielf powerups, and power weapons on the tracks. Randomized 'items' that would let you call in some mac rounds on an area ahead or behind you, maybe you could get a temporary Falcon escort that would shoot nearby enemies, toss a land mine behind you to blow somebody up. Hell, maybe add some unique mechanics like hijacking an enemy vehicle and then they have to wait for like 2 or 3 seconds for a pelican to arrive with their replacement vehicle. There's a lot you could do without completely cloning Mario Kart's mechanics that would make it unique and fun.

So Halo New Covenant kinda sucks.

Because they built it in the Halo 3 ODST engine, the health and gameplay functions like playing as an ODST, but the actual gameplay is structured in a way that has you playing like a Spartan or an Elite. Literally one shot from a Mauler will kill you, and you often get badly swarmed in the mod. Sentinels kill you in two shots too.

I don't think this is how it normally is in ODST- ODST is, frankly, just Halo, more or less. They even balanced it so that the ODSTs can survive a beam rifle shot on legendary when Chief couldn't in 2 or 3.

The balance seems fine if you play on the easy. It's a bit too similar to Halo 3's default combat, not much change in terms of sandbox additions or new enemies, only stat tweaks, so it would be kind of tedious to play on heroic or legendary anyway, based o everyone complaining about the difficulty, and even if it was the same exact values as vanilla. I think this type of mod is more for enjoying the change in scenery and new story. Maybe it would be worth it to play on heroic or harder if there was a bunch of new weapons with different effects that changed the gameplay up. I play mods nowadays for brand new toys not already in the vanilla game so I would prefer more Halo X in Halo Y to be honest. But the map design is very pretty and the cutscenes and dialogue are higher quality than I was expecting. Very nice work overall.

I appreciate them rereleasing the mod with more polished and reworked levels. The OG releases first level was originally just “Gravemind” from halo 2 but reversed. But I don’t like them killing of the shipmaster for shock value.
Combined with the aforementioned balance issues, like cranking the damage values to maximum makes the mod overall feels very amateurish with the popularity coming more from the fanbases dissatisfaction with the current state of the franchise rather than the inherit quality of the mod itself. It actually reminded me of the SPV3 hype after halo 5’s infamous release.

Hate to be the devils advocate. But Halos peak was during 3. All the way back in 2007. COD took massive parts of halos dudebro audience as the casual console shooter and they obviously tried to compensate with the dwindling sales with microtransactions. But you can’t monetize an Arena shooter in the same way you do other shooters like overwatch or Fortnite. The only time halo had profitable monetization was with 5 and its REQ packs enough that Microsoft was willing to spend 500 million on Infinite and its flopped after a month.
I think the CE armor in Infinite was the only time Infinite actually turned a profit.
They later tried to fuck with MCC in a similar way and was told to fuck off. Combine this with Microsoft actually buying Activision outright. So it’s no mystery why Microsoft decided to finally pull the plug on 343 and retorting to low cost Unreal slop.

It's ironic but MS really should have embraced timed exclusivity with Halo earlier. One of the big advantages CoD has had is that it's on both consoles and PC, even Nintendo at times, so your PS3 friends were just not going to be playing Halo, but everyone could play CoD.

Specialty weapons get an exception. Laser can penetrate and 1 hit kill vehicles. Grenade Launcher can EMP and kill in 1 shot, Rockets get a large blast radius and can track air vehicles. The Brute Shot is more difficult. It can bounce vehicles around, but giving it a huge magazine would make it OP by being too forgiving with missed shots. Maybe make its melee only a bit worse than the Energy Sword?

And the Brute Shot's melee already is just a little bit worse than the Sword's. IIRC, a falling melee kills in 1 hit in Halo 2. And 3's Brute Shot can combo 1 direct hit into a melee.

Not only is Orbital not good, more importantly it is not fun. I'd rather play on Isolation or Foundry and neither of those maps are particularly exciting, but at least you can have fun on them. Orbital is built specifically for SWAT (the most boring mode), and nothing else. It's not even fun with Fiesta. Now that's rough. Orbital does not meet Halo 3's standards for a multiplayer map. I don't know what they were thinking by making this awful, boring map.

haven't played infinite in a while, I think I stopped right around when the battle royal mode happened. what's changed since then? I played a couple matches and there seem to be a lot more matchmaking options, maps, and weapons in the game now.

It has long hallways that are meant for sprint, and it has a mostly grey palette that you normally find in Reach. The architecture/structure design is closer to Reach's than anything from Halo 3 or 2's UNSC architecture. There's a theory that maybe this map was even one of the first maps to experiment with sprint and armor lock before giving up on the idea. To be fair though, this is my theory and I don't have any evidence to support it but I do have a hunch and I'm sure someone else might have come to the same conclusion. Notice that they even had to include mongeese to help you get around due to removing sprint during the testing phase but maybe they didn't have time to shrink the hallways down so they compromised with the mongeese. The map is also rather uneventful, as if it were designed to be able to accommodate multiple armor abilities in place of more interesting map design. You find this design in Reach as well, where the map is designed to be tedious and needlessly large in order to support multiple types of movement options. If you were to put this map in Reach, it would feel very similar to Sword Base, or like an extremely early version of it.

Mangler is back.
Pistol got nerfed a little.
Plasma pistol got its EMP back.
Grenade jumping is back.
You can choose individual modes you want to play in a matchmaking playlist.
Seems to crash/lose connection less, but really depends on the update.

Seasons will be back and so are battle passes, but they will be more fomo now.
Fuel Rod is back but looks like a shitty SPNKR skin, so they can sell you the real Fuel Rod Gun skin. (They say its because they don't have resources/animators/funds, lol, that's rich coming from Microsoft)

I would say, if you like Big Team Heavies, it's fine. There is some bullshit, like half the maps suck and the tank gun power weapon makes vehicle combat much less fun, but it's the only Halo game where you can have 4 banshees in a match at once, or 4 wraiths and a couple of scorpions, and there's always a power weapon nearby. Fiesta is pretty great. Just disable the objective modes so your teammate randos can't throw the game so easily. I don't like the base gameplay of Infinite, everything is too fast and schizophrenic and sprint needs to go, but you do have a lot of variety at least in Heavies/Fiesta. I think I'll reinstall for the Fuel Rod update.

You are supposed to charge with Mongoose to quickly move around. Either for weapons in the beginning exchange or to rejoin the fight. Mongooses have always been a stand-in for Sprint that fits the Halo sandbox. Orbital has its issues, but the presence of Mongooses ain't one of them.

Orbital was replaced by Anchor 9.
Orbital is the outdated version. Anchor 9 is the new model. They removed the moongoose from Anchor 9 because you can use sprint now. It also has a low grav section which makes it more interesting and a straight upgrade to Orbital. There is no need for Orbital to exist any longer. Please remove it from matchmaking.

I don't really think Wars 1 did, since non one minded a spinoff at that point and it was pretty fun.

ODST had some people complaining about it being a full price game that just bundled Halo 3's multiplayer in (personally was a great value for me because I didn't have Halo 3 and was just getting into the 360 ecosystem), and some nitpicking about ODSTs playing just like Master Chief.

Halo Wars wasn't so much "divisive" as it was seen as catering to a falling brand. With ODST and Wars, people were getting franchise fatigue at the same time that CoD was quite literally canabalizing Halo's base.
People forget this, but Halo 3 lost more than half of its playerbase to CoD in a year. It's just that at its peak it was so ducking popular that even if you chop that number in half you still have a top 2 Xbox 360 game by popularity.
But nobody really disliked Halo Wars, in fact, the cutscene where Red Team fights the elites was considered some of the best Halo material at the time.

This. The thing people liked about Phantom Menace was the Darth Maul light saber fight. But no one cared for the story or the flat acting. And the following movie was way too cheesy with the forced romance and lame melodrama. No one liked Anakin lol, he was so whiny. The third was actuall an improvment, but it's still so weird that Anakin from the Prequels is the same Darth Vader from the original trilogy. It's a complete mismatch. But after to the latest trilogy, most people give it a pass, in retrospect. Not to mention all the kids that grew up with the Prequels are now adults, so to them, the Prequels ARE Star Wars. It's like people that grew up with Reach. To them, that's Halo, despite it being more of a spinoff than the original trilogy. And even people who didn't like Reach will give Reach a pass when compared to 343's Halos.

This scenario is pretty cool. Depending on how you time it when you activate the shield door controls, you can catch a phantom leaving, or even trying to enter, and it'll blow up when it hits the shield door. But if you're extra slow or extra early, or even by accident, you can have scenarios where no phantoms crash into the door and are able to escape. Like, if I had activated the door a little earlier, the first phantom would have still escaped but the 2nd phantom would not even have shown up because they would have had time to notice the danger. You can even catch the first phantom and have it crash into the door trying to escape, if you're fast enough. And the faster you get to the door controls, the less reinforcements show up.

Normally you'd expect a certain number of reinforcements to get dropped because it's supposed to be a scripted event. But it can actually turn out a number of ways. Kind of an unexpected (and maybe accidental?) sandbox behavior from a 343 game. It's not a completely locked down scripted event; the player has some control over it.

The game is half finished, most Arbiter levels are half baked. The AI is riddled with issues and the gameplay grinds to a screeching halt when there's an area with Buggers, more than 2 Sniper Jackals, or Ultra Wraiths. You can spank your monkey over the story all you want but the gameplay is atrocious.

Halo 3 greatly improved upon it but the vehicle sections that include Ghosts are H2 levels of bullshit. Flood encounters REQUIRE an Energy Sword. See that part in Sacred Icon with the winding hallway.

it's a better designed Shotgun than either of the other two.
The human Shotgun is absolutely retardedly OP, and the scartershot doesn't live up to its concept as well as it should. It should encouraging bouncing the shots around and off walls more.

If you were following, I was talking about the beginning of Uprising. Which has none of those apart from the BPR which is already a very situational weapon. And the Needlers are only semi-reliable even when you're duel-wielding. I shouldn't have to treat every level like it's Gravemind with constant Carbine spap like it's Headshot: The Game™.

Elites are a joke on Legendary. They're a fraction of their counterparts in CE with worse animations, and their melee animations with Carbines rarely ever actually hit anything. I could SMG every Elite just short of an Ultra. And with how insane the tracking of the PP is the most common weapon in the game is their biggest weakness.
