I get that impermanence doesn't mean insignificance, but man anything going forward just seems like a waste of time and effort. It's not like this game had a good run and is doing a final number before the show ends. It's not like this game had a set amount of seasons and we've finally hit the last one.

i think the plug was pulled before it needed to, for example maybe even this very week wb went to tony and gave him some kind of ultimatum, he said no and they said "okay then the game is dead starting now". Something along those lines, basically people actually working on the game of course knew the game wasn't doing well, and hell we had that "leak" of season 5 being a make or break last ditch effort, but i guess someone didn't play ball and so they just decided to kill the game, forgoing any chance it might have got at redeeming itself
hell honestly it's weird they don't just release the shit they were working on we know is basically ready, apparently wicked witch was very ready for release so it's weird they instead are keeping her for no reason

you're not wrong, but a big draw of these games is also rosters. It's why others within the genre can't even get a fraction of the numbers smash bros has gotten over the years. The gameplay, while still important to an extent, is not the initial main draw for multiversus, which I honestly think is lost even on the developers when showing off the game.
Going back and watching character reveals where they just talk about movesets and shit you can see how soulless it is compared to the previews we got in smash ultimate because they obviously don't care about the characters themselves, only the movesets attached to them.

That's what customization means, that's what people splurge their income on, it's the fucking basics they refused to understand and that's for the whole game

Like they could've done fighters road divided per character's archetype starting with the easiest to play to the harder, and the more you play idk bruisers the more bruisers you can unlock. Not even that, Banana Guard was one of the HYPED characters for the relaunch. You get him and a skin for free just by logging in, he was intentionally ""leaked"" in a trailer to get people speculating, they had a whole marketing stunt by sending people fucking bananas. Calling it a passion project is a fucking joke because that goes well beyond having a bit of fun, they were actually trying to hype this fucker up.

I just can't take anything they say about "listening to the community" or "improving the game" seriously when we have firsthand witnessed the game get butchered in every possible way over losing its identity and continuing to get worse and worse. The difference is Smash already had their most important characters covered by the fourth entry, so having Lucina and Palutena take up space and resources didn't matter as much anymore.

Again, nobody fucking cares if the season is gonna have 50 pages of patch notes because it's literally shutting down in 3 months. End future updates, disable monetary transactions, sure. But taking the game entirely offline, removing it from storefronts, and making it strictly local only for those who played it during its very short life is the most absolute death you can have.
These patch notes are literally just going to be "enjoy this temporary stuff". There's no reason to be excited or invested at all with that knowledge, and I won't be playing it. Anyone coping about being able to still play it offline are the same people who kept denying the game was very obviously dying.

I don't know about anyone else but Marceline is a character I never knew beforehand (and one of the only ones next to Nubia and Banana), is horribly unfun to fight against with broken moves plus the ability to randomly go invisible for no reason because fuck you, has people swearing that she's infinitely more popular and worthy of being in the game than she actually is (much like PFG and the banana) and is yet another AT rep in a game where the devs clearly have an annoying AT bias

I am anti coomer actually. I just know how big Adventure Time was for CN, it was the face of the network for the 2010s and nothing has replaced it since. Yeah she's mostly popular by AT fans but the same can be said for Rosalina and how she's mostly popular within just the Mario fanbase.
Like i said, Marceline should have come after Ice King and Bubblegum and other characters. Her problem is just the timing but if she were the, lets say, 57th character on the roster then she'd be more fine and still a well requested character.
That and her being released after Nubia and banana was a bad time since this general seems to have gotten some complex against characters who aren't worldwide icons. That's fair but Marceline is nowhere near Nubia and Banana tiei, i say she's more Gremlins tier.

Nothing to do with the Fagmatsu "leak" (which wasn't real btw), and no Smashfags don't care about what the series is called in Japan.

I 100% agree that Wicked Witch should have been the season 4 character alongside Raven.
It would have also made for a cute little parody with raven as Dorothy with a little Beast Boy dog companion.

Honestly you can tell just how bad idea all the fighter unlock and rift bullshit is when compared to Marvel Rivals. That game didn't launch with rifts, MVS attempt at single player content, and probably wont have anything like that for a long time because it isn't needed.

They wasted all that time on rifts for nothing, if anything it actively turned players away. I know I stopped because of all the things tied to that slog of a mode.

All the characters are free and unlocked right from the start, which is apparently a change from some of the early access betas. Rivals was originally going to try and gatekeep characters. But that's pointless when the characters are the draw, you don't monetize them because 99% of players are free to play, the small minority of whales are what sustain these games. Cosmetics can be the endless well for the whales, characters are a one time purchase which most people will never pay to work to obtain.

This is still so insane to me. I have never seen a developer lie so blatantly and brazenly before. As if the code for that menu just fucking wrote itself. I always find it funny how no one ever mentions perks when talking about balancing, they're such a nothing aspect of the game. Yeah, last stand had to be removed and the one that spawns air platforms has some cheese but the rest don't seem to matter at all.
The talk about perk currency always overshadowed them despite them not being significant enough to warrant the complaining anyway. At most you needed to buy one perk for each slot and depending on the charcter. Hell, the small number of available loadouts encouraged you to have one or two small variations of the same loadout instead of trying out new combinations

MVS is honestly an incredible cautionary tale in favour of gatekeeping, they gave up so much of what made the game special in a desperate attempt to win the hearts of the masses and the game is now just a weird empty shell of its former self that lacks any appeal whatsoever. Were perks a good thing for the game? Maybe, maybe not, but you could see what they were going for and there was a lot of fun to be had in coming up with specific perk + character team combos. Now they're just nothing, and that's an incredibly common theme across this game's lifespan. Never try to coddle the reactionary twitterfags who already dropped your game.

I got a similar bundle once of 1000 gleamium for five bucks (basically a 50% discount) I closed the game because I had to work and it was gone by the time I came back, they never offered it again either as far as I know. And the best part is that I was going to buy it, but they never gave me the option again.

Thank god cuz it cut the grind i would've needed for the fighter road (The only characters i bought with currency were Joker, Smith, Velma, Gizmo, Nubia, BJ, Jake and Garnet. Stripe, IG, Lebron, and probably somebody I forgot i got in events for free, T&J was my free unlock when Fighters Road took over, I got Steven and Reindog from that, Bought Marceline, Raven was fighter currency after she became free.)

I only have marvin left to unlock and since nobody else is going to cost anything I might as well just use the 3k fighter currency they gave away over christmas to just buy him now.

It cuts off and it feels like there's supposed to be more.

I honestly feel this to be wasted potential for the Pokemon franchise and very unoriginal and uninspired.
Pokemon are monsters, they have potential to be wild in terms of moveset and their unique anatomy and characteristics.
But instead they're relegated to whatever archetype Sakurai wants at the time. And honestly i feel like this has also harmed the design process of the starter Pokemon as they feel like they're made not to be Pokemon but to be potential Smash archetypes.
Sakurai should have just dove deep into Nintendo's catalog in search for a ninja and wrestler character instead of making starter Pokemon, and only the starters for some reason, into archetypes.
And for anyone who says any other ninja or wrestler character would not be as popular as a Pokemon, keep in mind, a character doesn't have to be recognizable, it has to be fun. But i guess if that's the reason why Sakurai only uses Pokemon for these archetypes then that's just another contradiction and double standard of his.

Can someone explain why out of all games this one seems to have fanbase so delusional that they are saying that they'd give the game a third chance and have the patience of a saint when it comes to the constant fuckups by the devs? It's because there's a specific strand of autism these people have in which they fully believe that their favorite character in media, will eventually appear in this game as the potential should be "limitless". issue being PFG are a bunch of retards and don't know how to choose hype picks for the life of them. most we've gotten is genuinely the PPG which was then quickly quelled with Nubia. simply put, the concept of multiversus sounds really awesome on paper but the execution of it is really shit, outside of the art and vo work.

From what i heard Sakurai had a hand in at least Greninja's design.
But still, the point still stands, starter Pokemon being relegated to humanoid archetypes is lame and so is Sakurai only going after those humanoid archetypes starters.
