Settlers launch had 350k people per GGG's own words.

A huge amount of people bought into Jonathan comparing it to isometric elden ring and are also treating it as a one-and-done single playthrough RPG. He doesnt have a plan or timeline to share, he is alot less transparent than Chris ever was, and to boot he actualy issued one of the worst "apologies" ive ever seen. Regardless if you like or hate poe2 you have to admit that there was very little accountability involved. Not even a "we are sorry for fucking up, heres how we will make it up to our loyal PoE1 audience", like we could have gotten free mtx boxes or anything.

the only reason pooe2 has this many players on steam is because chinks are now counted in and they don't have a separate client. remove them and it would be a typical league launch scenario as far as player count goes. if poe2 will make anything less than a mil in subsequent league or huge content patches it's meh. if less than half a mil it's a disaster. they will likely equalize to being around the same player count (with poe1 numbers being unknown to the public since chinks are in quarantine) if they will put out new leagues to both at the same pace inbetween each other. that was the original intention for obvious business reasons.
them hyping up pooe2 numbers is just a trick to cause a bit more fomo and gain a bit more players. if you compare steam counts side by side they don't show the true picture, but most people don't think about it.

I'm officially done with trying to do trial of SUCKhemas. I spend an hour brainless blasting through 75% of it, bored out of my fucking mind, and literally praying to encounter the right boons to beat final boss. I finally get to the 4th trial, 2 rooms from final boss, and I get 1 shot by some random FAGGOT and I don't even understand what happened. 1.5 hours of boredom down the drain in a split second. Fuck this shit, I'll just run maps. Maybe I'll try chaos trials instead, at least then i can get through that in less than an hour.

What level are you? Guessing this is for your last ascendancy points. And yeah, chaos trial is actually pretty good and easy (even quick) if you don't get fucked on unlucky debuffs. The trialmaster himself doesn't have any of said debuffs carry over, either, so he's generally pretty easy and consistent (whereas Sugma boss isn't consistent as all de/buffs carry over to their fight).

We know this is complete bullshit, pure melee is less safe than being able to choose your proximity to the boss. Boss fights generally still favour ranged (but its more because they can attack while moving since melee cannot)

The melee totem thing is abit funny because im confident that if they made these boss fights longer than 3seconds in endgame, melee would be back to using an armour break totem and a HOTG with the consume armour break support (its 50% more dmg).

Nobody wants thorns even if it was t1 and you had room on your build (affix-wise), i agree with alkaizer where if they deleted thorns from the game you just have a better game as a result

if you want to enjoy the game don't think about it too much, you'll be behind the economy for a long good while even in perfect conditions, staying ahead requires very good game knowledge and a lot of time commitment, and there's swathes of people who are monetarily interested in exploiting economy, no matter if they cut the chinks out or not.

Hes probably a micromanager style manager which only works on small team sizes, and they probably have management framework issues (dont have map stash tabs still.. 2months in, im convinced they havent even assigned the job of making it yet).

If everything was managed and handled professionally in that apology they probably would have dropped an estimate on 0.2 release date, or dropped a flashback event for PoE1 or something. Valheim will NEVER hit 500k again, Palworld won't ever break 1 million let alone 2. It's very possible that PoE 2 already hit its peak at 550k. So armor is 2.5x worse in PoE2 than 1 because Johnny never reads patch notes for a game he doesn't play

That excuse died the moment they said PoE1 leagues are not in development and they haven't even started one.
If you cannibalize ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of dev time and are being worked on at the same league schedule as PoE1, you're not an uwu widdle beta where they're just messing around in early access, that's a full-sequel launch that's completely replaced and supplanted the first game.

Well, it's a pretty good item with pretty good mods and it's only brought down a bit by the low level base, thus not really getting a lot out of %ES and not being absolutely ideal mods. Good on you on getting cheap.
As for BiS, it'd probably be max mana, spell dmg, lightning dmg, +2 spell lvls, cast speed and mana regen with pretty high tier mods.

No PoE1 leagues means no PoE1 supporter packs, and they're not exactly flush with goodwill either. Does being higher level actually increase your defenses in anyway? Im level 87 and still getting rocked by level 79 maps, i blow through everything for the most part, but then i encounter that 1 mob that doesnt explode and he slaps me, i die, or i get swarmed and have to mash flasks buttons, spam my spells, and pray, its just not very fun

Its EA. PoE 2 might not even have any bigger Leagues until full launch. PoE 1 beta had like 2 relatively small leagues before its full release. 3.0 beta had no Leagues during the 6 months at all. The next big update for PoE 2 EA is going to be Act 4. A good chunk of Act 4 was already playable back in Alpha so odds are its going to come up soon.

The attack speed isn't the issue, at least I don't think it needs to be the issue. The only way to "scale" is to just kill things faster which is just attacking faster since the combat has no depth.
When you play according to the "vision" it almost feels like a videogame, as in, not just holding left click while screen explodes and the enemies may as well be rare chests that automatically pop open when they're on screen.
So then you actually engage with the enemies, and you pretty quickly find that the devs haven't given you any tools to actually solve the enemy encounters, so you just reach for the oversized hammer that is attack six million times a second and return to clear speed meta.
Rares have a bubble that slows you. Ranged solution is to.. I guess don't walk up to them. Which they weren't going to do anyway so whatever don't care. Melee actually has to solve that though, since you need to walk up to them to hit them. How does melee solve that? There is no solution. Use hammer of the gods I guess and now we're playing "melee".

Yeah even at the start of the game they through you off the deep end, I had base building, a legion encounter and those fucking rhoas who brutally molest you as soon as you get to the second zone. They do nothing to tell you what any of the mechanics are or what they are good for. I wasted my first couple betrayals cause I thought information would be useful and only found out later that you can get cool modifiers to craft with when you kill them. Blight has fucking tower defence built in and I still haven't got round to trying the mining/heists.

If we're being sincere, i'm not fond of poe2 and hoped poe1 would continue in a different direction. I think the subtext of Jonothans video is that poe1 is end of service and will no longer have development. So it's basically a game that i've played for a long time is ending and i don't like its replacement. I'm sure a lot of the more vocal complainers feel the same way

There's also a broader problem that there isn't a lot to talk about in poe, so drama is more popular.

I totally respect your take and can empathize. But what I will say to that is that GGG has clearly expressed the intention to keep poe 1 going. Sure it might play second fiddle and whether they will actually be able to deliver is another matter, but they can be seen taking measurable steps to keep that promise. Many other devs would have immediately eosed poe 1 no questions asked and for this I find it hard to be mad at GGG when they express that they are struggling to do so.

It had the three best possible suffix rolls for a quarterstaff, the prefixes literally do not matter at that point, getting both crit suffixes and attack speed is extremely rare to the point I'm pretty sure the game tanks the odds of the other two rolling as soon as you get one of the three
And even then flat cold is by far the best element for a quarterstaff, the only weaknesses are a mediocre-but-still-present phys roll and +accuracy

If the game sucks ass without trading then making trading less worse won't help the game not suck ass at all. The game itself sucks on level zero (moving around and attacking stuff) and it sucks on level one (builds, atlas systems) so how is adjusting level two supposed to save anything.

This all should have been clearly evident to people when Tencent put their foot in the door and GGG allowed it to happen. Everyone said for years 'nah it's a minor stake, they're just giving them money to keep up the great work". Then the quietly bought the entire company and everything changed but the window dressing. Now we're seeing the end result of those changes because 'transparent' GGG is too nervous to tell their autist fans that they don't really exist anymore.

This. Everything in this game is made to cause friction to someone just trying to play it as a normal person would. Someone who wants the adventure of an rpg, growing your character on their own within the mechanics of the game. Meeting challenges, growing/modifying your character to overcome the challenges on your own is a fucking statistical impossibility. Everything in the game is designed to beat you into a corner and force you to use cheat codes, ie. trade to just buy the thing you need to overcome your problems. Self-contained the game is trash as far as itemization goes. You can't even hope to win by just playing the game. Itemization is designed for third world vampires to make money and control the economy. The in-game world is dominated by swarms of currency manipulating inhuman scum. This is the rub of a "free to play" game. It's literally designed for cretins.
