Crazy is aware that Kind has the ring, she's also aware that Kind is trying to stop her plan by having Players go to the core, which isn't the first time. Also Crazy has hijacked Kind version to live in there, specifically.
Long story short, it doesn't make sense for Crazy to ignore Kind for so long. Especially if you consider the fact that she killed Cappie almost immediately because of the portal. When you piece all of this together, it really FEELS like Kind has just been planted there by Crazy herself, for whatever reason. Even the way she was killed off seems more of a punishment towards Player if anything.

Crazy basically wants you to act completely faithful to her cute face, not even her true self, from the get-go. You basically get punished for literally just being curious. She just wants an obedient pet.
Which is also why I completely agree with you about the "happy" ending. This all feels fake. I'm one of the few that completely don't trust the incoming Peaceful mode, it all sounds like a setup again.
