Were you really going to win a game by having another removal spell, risking getting blown out by shardmage, ward, pump, etc- or just being impotent to stop a pile of 5/5s and tokens
Or do you win a game by playing a deck that simply wins one turn faster than your opponent

I get it, winning's fun, but fuck me, you get more homebrews in the standard play queue. I used to think cost was the main thing preventing players from straying from the meta(I'm not spending 20 wildcards for a tier 4 deck, etc) but clearly that's not it. WOTC sucks but on some level they're just responding to demand
