Wardancer squealed and kissed him on the cheek. She skipped off to pay for her new dagger. Squire waited by the stall. He watched her interact with the vendor and saw how animated and happy she was.
As the transaction was being completed, a man dressed in black leather armor and riding a wyvern walked by. The beast was covered in black scales and had a long tail. Its wings were folded in against its body. The rider was dressed in black leather, his face covered by a skull mask.
Squire watched the man with a sense of unease. Something about the way he moved was off, unnatural.

I had played her a lot of in game 2, and could never really get any allies because of her race + unfortunate start position
Fortunately you can pulverize DElves well enough to get a good foothold, but your ultimate (thematic) goal should be Ulthuan yea
I think she even has a unique building in Lothern, with a corresponding achievement (in game 2)

I rushed over and took the entire province next to Alith Anar early (wiping out his starting enemies) and gifted it to him. I hope he doesn't go back on that non aggression and wipe out my home. Used to play Total War while totally baked (~400-600mg) a lot. The best factions are resilient melee factions like counts, warriors, greenskins, etc. Nurgle's probably really good for playing while seriously mentally impaired but they're a bit too icky for me.
Helman Ghorst is probably the stoner king. You just know that guy blazes it with his vampire bitches non-stop.

Ordertide Cylostra is doable. Grombrindal is not that hard to sway and he can hold all the non-coastal territory in Naggaroth that you have 0 reasons to care about anyway, all the while giving you trade income, helping you out with armies of superior stuff and access to units that aren't complete shit. Others can be convinced to ally you with non-coastal territory and trading it to them, it is pretty fun. Only Alith isn't worth reasoning with.

I've never particularly liked the influence. It doesn't make sense that High Elves can just influence literally any other faction in the world. Especially when several hate them and would never entertain the idea of listening to what they have to say. That's more of a Lahmian thing.
Really any sort of influence type mechanic should be limited in who it can be used on. High Elves should only be able to influence human factions, other elves, and maybe orcs and ogres.

There's too many factions that actively influence each other and even Chaos should at least be able to tempt/persuade other factions a bit more. It should definitely be a larger mechanic but it's tricky do to correctly

No, that's dumb. How it should actually work is that you the player are the Great Plan and you effectively order in spawnings ahead of time, which translates into cheaper costs in X turns. The further ahead you plan out your recruitment, the cheaper the costs.

When you recruit a Blessed Saurus it's just a regular Saurus (with gold veteran) BUT you can pick one (1) upgrade (poison / regeneration / flame attack etc etc ...)

My basic-bitch idea was to just give all the ligger factions a sacrifice mechanic similar to Tehenauin, where you collect sacrifices/favor/fun money to buy blessed units, and some other faction-specific things. By default you'd only get sacrifices from fighting Skaven and Chaos, but there'd be techs that you can unlock that grant sacrifices from other races, at the expense of a diplo penalty with those races. I'd still leave the random missions in, but now there's a way to get the Blessed variants you want instead of getting cucked by RNG and getting blesses skinks 5 times in a row.
Also add blessed variants of DLC units and rework some of the shittier effects on current ones. Saurus (clubs) getting perfect vigor while Saurus (spears) get fucking forest strider is retarded.

Alternatively, just do what >>512076965 said and let players pick what effect they want somehow.

I did a map paint as Belakor, it was really easy and enjoyable. Definitely take some fortresses though. Start by going straight up through Norsca, take all of it, then curve back down through Kislev and the Empire. Drop his portals off CD so you can move around the map easily.

This is actually a horrific defeat. You killed almost nothing but chaff and lost good units for nothing. Literally the only important units they had in Vlad's army was Isabella and Vlad himself, and you did no damage to them whatsoever. Against undead, aim for the head and the rest will crumble. Go for the leaders, which was the one thing you didn't do in that fight.

Add Boris Todbringer in a patch with Middenland units like Great Book of Grudges suggested in a video.

The fact that he regenerates means that you don't need to bring a life wizard to support him and can get a different wizard instead like heavens for tempest and Uranon's thunderbolt or death for spirit leech and Bjuna. It's a legacy system from Rome 2. When the balance of power was overwhelmingly against you, you'd get a penalty that says "YOUR MEN ARE OVERPOWERED" after about 5 minutes that would start ticking down your morale steadily. You especially notice it in Attila since you fight a lot of winnable settlement defense battles with 4 units of garrison vs 20-stacks and your success would essentially be put on a timer. As long as you can inflict enough casualties/shatters quickly enough you can stop or reverse the tick but since it's based on balance of power it can be really arbitrary how much you impact it.

The newer games kept this system but removed the UI element telling you that it's happening (because it used rome-2 style font and they never bothered making a new message for other games) so you just have this hidden morale penalty in "Other" that ticks up silently until it makes your whole army rout. And since balance of power can get REALLY fucky in warhammer you'll sometimes encounter it in battles that seem extremely winnable on paper but the game disagrees. It's made worse by the fact that remaining ammo affects balance of power, so you can have weird cases where your balance of power gets worse because the game valued the ammo you expended more highly than the casualties those shots inflicted.

A big secret is that the industry doesn't consider game balance to be a real concept that merits any serious consideration. "Balance patches" are just an extension of customer satisfaction and not treated any differently internally from bugfixes. Legend's exploits are high visibility because he makes videos about them, but low impact because nobody else is autistic enough to play like him. As a result the balance team can make low-effort gestures at fixing those exploits and as a result those fixes are also very high visibility. It looks like they're doing their jobs. But in reality since those issues have such low impact on the vast majority of players, nobody really cares, and it doesn't affect players one way or another if those fixes actually work. The end result is that they can phone it in extra hard, basically do no work but claim that they fixed some niche shit from a youtube video. And only that youtuber cares if it actually fixed anything at all.

It's labour-politics at its peak.

Damn. I remember last time my Malakai campaign was constant battle trying to keep the home province so this time I built extremely tall. Sold all the settlements except starting province and Hellpit to Kislev. WEhile also managing to confederate Thorgrim early when he was about to get wiped out and have stack of Hammerers sitting at home with overflow of adventure units.
And now not even Arbaal or Daniel bother trying to attack my fully garrisoned settlements. Theres literally 0 struggle even with Malakai on a merry adventure on the other edge of the empire.

Total War problems that we still suffer from in 2025:
Being sieged during the end turn without being allowed to sally out.
The campaign becoming a stomp within 30 turns when played optimally.
No Chaos endgame event for the game that is focused on holding off Chaos.
Units getting stuck in the gate or being unable to do anything whilst the enemy troops have the gate open.
The fortify stance was forgotten.
Romans still haven't been nerfed.

TWC used to be close to CA but after the Rome 2 disaster (Self inflicted) where else would they go for a large Total War community that is not a zoomer fest of retards like the discord?
I remember talking to actual dev's who would moonlight in the modding section and helped enormously with total conversions. I guarantee that no one left at CA has more than 20 hours in all 3 WHTW's combined or 50 in all of the other ones combined.

1. Challenge. A true general can take an army like this and make it work. It forces the player to alter strategies they might rely on.
2. Unit variety. I don't want to waste the perfectly good unit option I have just because I got something better.

TLDR. It's easier to have fun when you're not a minimaxing autist who cheeses the game.

I organize into groups
1. Slow, but tough (throw support in here because that makes them tougher.) Use those as my main line.
2. Fast, but weak. Try to sneak them to the ranged or artillery first, then to sweep retreating units, lastly to take out anything I might get away with.
3. Air force. Get into melee with anything airborn, especially if it's the precious thunderbarge. Can use them as a spare group 2.

You're in for a fun one, King.
1) Don't recruit any unit that is found in garrisons except flyers.
2) Ally order races to ally recruit as many pirate appropriate units as you can.
3) Make Sartosans/ogres/living units the backbone of any army.
4) Once Aranessa unlocks "Your worst nightmare" always keep one small army harvesting events at sea
5) Always keep 1-2 heros going after treasure maps.
6) (Optional) Play with all sliders on max difficulty to experience how a bunch of pirates would feel facing actual trained armies.

Vanilla coast relies on a line of zombies, mortars, and handgunners. It makes offensive battles take forever and makes coast very boring IMO. It's also very, very easy. You can still use this units in garrisons so you won't be missing anything, but this way offensive battles are exciting and interactive as pirate raids should be.
Don't use:

This way you get the living pirate experience without missing out on the fun undead monsters. Especially since most coast players just spam polearms and handgunners all day, missing all the fun parts of the roster.

For the second questions I really like Cathay's peasant units and gunpowder units. I used to do a lot of mountain bandit RPs with them before I realized I was just playing them like they were Sartosa and switched back. I really like Streltsi, but Kislev is hurting or lack of quick melee infantry. I used to really like Wood Elves and Beastmen but both factions are missing too many mechanics.

I like Sartosa because they're the only faction with cheap, vanguard, perfect vigor, melee rush infantry who can also build cities, do diplomacy, and have a few horde buildings. Plus i can ally recruit a few Welf units very early on. Perfect faction for all my needs.

Abhorash would buff Blood Knights and might get something equivalent to Depth Guard since Blood Dragons are the ones that use actual vampires as fighters.
Neferata would be more campaign shenanigans since Lahmians are sneaky spys that try to stop battles before they happen.
A Strigoi LL could buff Crypt Ghouls and Horrors like the bloodline Strigoi, but better.
Nechrach I'm not sure. They're supposed to be the best casters so maybe ghosts?

Cathay peasant spears have a phalanx formation. You can stack them onto of each other to make an invincible wall of death like in Rome 1 and 2. Also them adding a Phalanx mechanic all but guarantees the next race will be Southern Realms.

Funny that I reached turn 155 with Skarbrand at the beginning of 2024 without crashes and then from November onwards the game crashes after turn 40

Close as I can get to modern Medieval 2 Cav crusader armies. I restrict myself from using magic or flying troops. I also use the warband upgrade for it so my Grail Knights and Guardians are all long term campaign elite veterans but all started as Knights Errant.

Peasants are used purely as my anvil, maybe one artillery unit to draw the AI in so I can charge their flanks.
I have every single faction campaign chievo in WH2 and missing only 2 for WH3, Slaanesh and WoC - Bretonnia is the only one I have for WH1

the biggest problem is the autoresolve telling you exactly what units will die and a rough estimate of how many casualties, they should entirely remove that system because its just gives too much information (and is wrong most of the time if you were to actually fight that battle)

I feel the real "strategy" or "sandbox" of this game doesn't actually happen until you're already a thriving nation with 4-5 provinces already. Before then the AI bullies the shit out of you and you're just trying to survive.

I don't know about older games, but TWW has so many dozens upon dozens of battles in (many that are almost entirely meaningless) that manually fighting all of them would be a huge waste of time. Touting units ghosting through you to escape when they shouldn't be able to and instantly recovering their morale the instant they're out of melee has been an issue for ages. Routing has literally never worked properly in warscape and they just keep piling more fireworks and fancy single entities into the game to distract you.

Anybody that's watched a shitter unit rout THROUGH you, instantly recover on the other side and then rearcharge understands what I mean. There isn't strategy involved here, just a mechanic that doesn't work right and bandaids thrown over the problem because CA doesn't know how to work with their own engine anymore.

Far more models and a fair bit more health. They're too slow and bulky to be fast snipers but they're also too fragile to be grindy, value units. They just die quickly after doing nothing.

sometimes it wouldn’t unload properly, or it would get stuck and not load back up, or it wouldn’t deploy at all. Easier to just avoid the system entirely
