For all the faults FO4 modding has, the fact that most outfit mods come with tempering support, meaning you can switch between variants/upgrades on a whim instead of having to recraft the whole piece, is super neat
I think there's a couple of Skyrim mods that also explore that idea (Traveller armour pack) but it's way jankier

just use the fo4 cbbe to sse cbbe conversion reference, conform sliders, slide it, then set base shape and replace the reference with the sse one and copy bones and conform sliders

I get very heavy lag when moving items from inv to container, it's like the game needs to reload the graphics after every transfer and I suspect it's because of the above. It works perfectly otherwise so I'd rather not disable it if I can help it.
This is most apparent with my storage containers but it's not like they have some outrageous amount of items - I separate stuff by categories so one barrel is just for alchemy ingredients, another for potions etc.

Absolutely new player here. Friend is retarded with computers and always keeps bugging me to help with mods but the thing is, I don't play the game and so it's always a headache to try and fix something because I have to spend so much time googling stuff beforehand. I never used wabbajack, but I can tell you modding Skyrim from scratch is a month long bender full of mistakes and troubleshooting. Maybe this general can help you choose the basic sections of modding like lighting, weather & terrain then you can go off on your own from that point.

Already got a good taste of that when I had to spend 1 hour trying to figure out why the game crashes when the player performs a critical beheading move by some mod. Somehow manage to fix it. Anyway, he's mostly interested in character creation with CBBE and RaceMenu. I assume those mod packs on Wabbajack have them similar to how a lot of Minecraft mods tend to have overlapping mods with each other?

Yeah they mostly vary in terms of how many (hundreds of) tattoos, hairstyles etc. there are included, the basic frameworks are all the same nowadays.

If you want a vanilla run I'd recommend installing USSEP/USMP and bugfix/stability mods. There's no good reason to experience vanilla bugs when there are countless videos about the funny ones you can watch instead. That being said I think it's good to experience the vanilla game, at least a little bit, before diving into mods. That way you can have a better understanding of what you're changing with mods. It doesn't have to be a full ass 500 hour completionist playthrough. Going through the main quest and some faction content, or just wandering around for a while will give you a good idea of what the vanilla experience is. If you don't care about that and just want to play a better version of the game, there are plenty of vanilla-plus/lore-friendly type modpacks on Wabbajack. If you want to dig deeper after playing modded Skyrim, you can start building your own load order or tweak the Wabbajack pack. Gopher has some good videos about Skyrim modding on his channel.

I'm doing a character where I'm not allowed to harvest plants, so I'm at the mercy of what the shops have, alchemy will eventually get there but for now it's really just frostbite venom.
(Between that, using arrows, skill training and not allowing myself to make potions just to sell them it's actually doing a good job of delaying the gold snowball you usually get until at least level 20.)

Shame that the weird blending bug that causes a lot of the animations to hit twice was never resolved. I don't know if it's due to Precision's default hitboxes overlapping or something else, though, because the two-hander animations don't have this problem at all.

You could probably massage both Wildcat and Valhalla into something resembling a cohesive whole by messing around in their MCMs, but most of Valhalla's big selling points - perfect blocks giving full stamina, stamina loss on miss but stamina regained on hit, exhaustion - are either busted or abusable in some way or go against the philosophy of Wildcat and other mods of its ilk. Also execution doesn't play nicely with custom races at all unless you patch them.

Turned off survival mode. the cold, fatigue, and hunger was cool at first but the low carry weight and not really worrying about cold now that i crafted some pelts means I just turned it off. maybe i'll try adding frostfall midsave and see whats up

The lack of HP regen is fantastic, as is the reduced weight and sleep to level up imo. Food and fatigue are so easy to manage that they straight up don't matter however Cold is just ass; just doesn't fit the setting or the weather engine at all and it's not something the player can actively manage beyond stopping play to wait by a fire every now and then.

Getting back into modding Skyrim, last I played was before SE, was wondering what the current meta is for some stuff. Animation replacer, should I go with FNIS, Nemesis, or Pandora Behavior Engine Plus? Male body replacers, are we past SoS? We doing TNG/HIMBO now or is there something else? Female body stuff is still XPMSSE+CBBE, yeah? Last I played, Arthmoor's Unofficial patch was still a good idea and in most load orders, but I haven't even followed Skyrim for a decade and I've managed to hear about how much he's sperged out and how awful it is with dumb changes, is there any other big "fix basic Skyrim bugs" type patch I should check out? LOOT says CBBE wants USSEP, but I dunno for what.

And are any of the old regulars around still? Last I visited one of these threads it was full of Meara/Trainwiz/Buffscale/Guardly/Brave/Vinella/a bunch of neat characters. That old Imgur roster album still floating around?

I'm level 25 and the game hasn't crashed once, with no mods even for stability. I did have to tcl a few times to unstuck in one dungeon, and one fort I went into had multiple areas where textures disappear where they shouldn't and you see through the walls.
But I guess AE really was worth doing even if it fucked over mods for a while.
