They should base one off of that one Resident Evil 7 dlc where you played as Joe Baker. The big emotional moment in Ruin where Cassie deactivates Roxanne is so unearned it feels like there are scenes missing from the game. Cassie's relationship with Roxanne only exists in flavor text that's easy to ignore, at least having Cassie audibly say "Aw man, it sucks to see Roxy like this, she was my favorite" would at least be something. But all we have is the flavor text and Roxanne running away when she realizes Cassie isn't Gregory.
And then Roxanne comes back later without explanation anyway so it's not like it mattered.

Burntrap being retconned into being the Mimic was a desperate overcorrection that did more harm than good.
Instead of it being a returning villain, it's a completely new character that only hardcore fans would know anything about because he's given no introduction or background information and has no connection to any of the main characters.

The titular mascot and purple guy seem similar enough along with the fourth game's style in general, the novel protag's birthday is obvious, and the nature of the haunted animatronics seem similar to the latter with how Jason is but I feel like there's more bits around I'm not yet savvy enough to notice.

Honestly agree. I hate Burntrap being Afton but at least it gave me something to laugh about, the memes were funny and him and Vanny were basically a comedic duo, which made both of them sliiiightly less disappointing. Meanwhile I have absolutely zero interest in the Mimic whatsoever, and his connection to Vanny is nowhere near as fun as when we thought it was William. You could argue Mimic is "better for the lore" but the lore has already been so completely fucked for so long, with or without Afton being back again, that I really cannot give a shit.

I'm gonna say it, The Mimic is the best FNAF antagonist.
Slick Willy was cool and iconic, but was ruined by novel synergy and wearing out his welcome.
Vanny showed potential, but got the axe. Only being latched on by fags and shotafags. And I don't care what you gooners say, her design is terrible, a curvaceous woman in a fursuit is not scary at all.
The Mimic is goated. He retcons the stupid return of William yet again and his own character. He also solos FNAF's waifu and a brown child.

Personally I think what really frustrates me the most, as someone who tapped out right after HW came out (which I liked, but it was the point I realized I just really wasn't a fan anymore, and no not because of Glitchtrap) then came back just a month or two before SB released, is that I was genuinely really excited for it and was hoping that it would reignite my love for the franchise. It felt so promising, the Pizzaplex looked so cool, Vanny had so much potential, it had everything to be the best game in the series... then they fumbled it so fucking hard that it just killed any hope I had of ever liking this franchise again.

I wonder how better things would've been in the timeline where SW stuck to their original scope and Scott actually fucking communicated what he wanted. Maybe we could've gotten a good game with little to no bugs that was well-received by people other than teenagers and furries.

Does anyone else have the plan of sticking around only for SOTM and the next supposedly final game in the so-called SteelWool arc that's gonna hopefully wrap things up? The only reason why I'm still even interested is the 3 humans - Gregory, Cassie and Vanessa. Don't give a damn about the Mimic or the Glamrocks. Mind you, I'm only saying the next game after SOTM might be SteelWool's final game (or at least in this timeline) because of the second Scott interview. He said that after SOTM, they'll have one more game. Of course, y'all can interpret that however you want. I don't think SteelWool are keeping the promise to keep FNAF going and going forever. I meant metaphorically, he might be giving shit to SW but he's still the one in the captain's seat at the end of the day.l The movies wouldn't be made without him, neither would the games.

Horror was always for kids, for the real young ones it was about crossing that threshold over into adulthood early for the ones who were of age it was more about fuckin the girl you were with at the theatre.
Kids growing up with FNAF were basically how I was growing up with VHS tapes my brother got from his dad dropping them off in a box from people moving who didn't want the extra baggage.

My objectively correct truth nuke is that FNAF has always been a series accessible for kids but that doesn't make it a series "for kids", kids are an undeniably large section of the fanbase but it's not much different to most PG-13 franchises in that there's a balance that keeps things enjoyable for all ages. At the very least we know Scott made the original games so that his own kids could play them, however there's a hostility and insecurity from certain fans towards the same mindset being applied to current entries even though they know full well they themselves got into FNAF as a kid. John said "it's not just for kids and it's not just for adults" in his Jtop interview and Jtop seemed to agree, so I don't think much has changed really

The difference between old and new FNaF is that earlier entries to the series were made with an earnest attempt to be as scary as they could, while also being accessible for all ages.
Steelwoke Studios deliberately chose to make Help Wanted 2 less scary, Scott implements constant self-censorship and shit like that awful Fort scene to kill all tension his antagonists could've had.

I can't believe anyone who has actually played HW2 can say it doesn't have good scares, it was made "less scary" only in the sense they chose to focus on a greater variety of minigames because from playtesting they found that some people had a preference for the pure fun minigames. The sister location levels and the rest of the horror orientated ones aren't any less scary than HW1, it's just that unlike HW1 those aren't the only kind of levels. The people who demoed Secret of The Mimic talked about how horror is more of a priority with that game and the Steel Wool devs were looking for feedback on how scary it was

Susie's dog in the Fruity Maze minigame. I guess it's not outright confirmed he's the one who killed it, but it's implied. It's not an actual example of the trope (quite the opposite in fact, it's a good example of how to show how evil your villain is without it feeling cheap, and he does have a reason for it: taking advantage of Susie's feelings to lure her), I just thought it was funny that there is in fact a dog that dies in the series for a scene that makes the antagonist look more evil.

Her appeal is that she's hot as a character. Being a wolf is ancillary, but the badgirl vibe and dark colors help a lot. I would've liked nu-chica as much as a character if she had Roxy's but I don't think I'd even try to make her even remotely attractive or cool when I draw her if not for the visuals.

Vanny has similar visual vibes and is visually hot but her character is not there outside of surface level things you want her to say. Roxy is the complete package.

I personally don't like wolves, or her personality and color scheme and a lot of nsfw art of her isn't hot to me in the slightest. Most important thing was her color scheme. She was a very light shade of purple which I prefer instead of grey. I might post it here, if anyone is interested.

I am 20 years old and FNAF is just one of those things that's so deeply ingrained into my psyche it feels like it's always been there. She's a narcissist who deeply hates herself, so she covers for her own securities by harming other people - which isn't SHALLOW, that's at least *two* dimensions, which is more than the other characters have. But it's hard to argue it's likable to me. Not least because she does show that she can like and protect people, but only the people she arbitrarily chooses to protect in the form of Cassidy. Showing that you CAN be nice to other people, but entirely based on your own whims rather than on any principles, is an even less respectable form of narcissism than disliking yourself so much that you bring other people down with you.

I think your issue is you're seeing it as narcicism, when it's not. I do not like narcicists, so I wouldn't like her at all if she was. She's trying to be an over achiever with an extreme form of overcompensation and a very fragile ego she doesn't want anybody else to see. The opening of her stroking her own dick is meant to be off putting, but it's only later you know she's doing it to self affirm and not have a breakdown.

Merch is a major driving force for FNAF too but it's also WAY less egregious than Poppy in that regard, they were pushing the new scrimbos and plugging their plushies way in advance while they barely showed the actual game prior to release. Maybe the series has improved with time (don't follow it properly so I wouldn't know) but their business model still resembles a content farm to me

Chapter 3 was very well-received and turned a lot of people who didn't care for or outright disliked the game into fans, mainly because it actually put effort into being scary and also had some cutesy animal characters that completely stole the show and grabbed the attention of furries.

It died after 3 when the lore went from being vague but simple and easily solvable to being overly cryptic and abstract for the sake of theorybaiting with 4. Then SL spit in its grave by adding tons of utterly retarded elements like child-kidnapping robots built by the Purple Guy (who's now also the co-creator of Freddy's) and kept in an underground sci-fi bunker where he also surveils the FNAF 4 bedroom in which he's been tormenting and/or experimenting on his own kid for god knows why.

I miss when the biggest complains people had about the lore were "having a second set of dead kids is dumb" and "2 should have been a sequel"

Got some FNAF 2 Movie leaks for yall, this apparently came from TJ/Katsterlingfans friend circle

Charlotte Emily is apparently in the film. And there's a scene where she catches a glimpse of a little boy being pulled away into the kitchen by William, Charlotte ends up stopping William and saving the boy.

Somehow they end up on stage and Charlotte falls into the stage and it ends up killing her, and then the Puppet rises out carrying her corpse which is presumably possessed by her spirit now.

By the looks of it anon was only present at the Day of the Devs showcase, which was just the same demo we've been hearing about. I have fond Memories of both Pre released Baby and Salvage.

I love Salvage in particular based off, because of the concept of a Decayed Fredbear animatronic I think has some genuine potential for an AU. Not as a Springtrap replacement (I think he's irreplaceable) but as his own character. I think Salvage would work well as either a version of Golden Freddy, or a brand-new spirit possessing an old Fredbear prototype.

(I use a picture of Salvage from TPRR because it's probably the coolest Salvage design)

I do miss the vibe pre-release Springtrap/Salvage gave as being the "forgotten" animatronic. Springtrap being the killer is one of those things that's been known for so long by so many people that the reveal has no impact anymore because even those who know nothing about FNAF already know that much (like a "Vader is Luke's father" situation), but the fact that until the final cutscene of the game you know nothing about him other than he was found in a boarded up room in one of the locations and is trying to kill you made him feel really mysterious.

The lighting and angle in the first teaser made him look like a completely different character, even though it was the same model as the final one. People thought he was Fredbear/Golden Freddy at first, then once we got a better look at him in the next teasers and the trailer, people thought he was a chimera animatronic made out of parts of the original four (like in the image you replied to), and started calling him Salvage/Hybrid until the name Springtrap was revealed in a Steam post by Scott.

In hindsight it's really funny how dragged out that Talbert debacle was in comparison to Entom just immediately nuking all his socials the second he got outed as having lied about the Tales thing and then never looking back, the frustrating part is not getting the full story behind The Talbert Files, and while I obviously don't think it was ever real, it still doesn't make sense to me. What people don't seem to ever acknowledge is the way he himself seemingly never wanted to say it was real, the supposed existence of The Talbert Files got out somehow and only then did he "admit" it was real after folding under community pressure because he was gatekeeping the book or whatever. Another thing is the way that wasn't even the first time it made the rounds and he was confronted about it, though during that period he successfully got people off his back by saying it was actually a draft of someone's fanfic. That's what people thought it was until it recirculated again and they claimed the real lie was The Talbert Files being a lie, which he also denied initially. So two instances of him being weirdly reluctant about claiming it was real before the """"truth""" came out and suddenly it was real, maybe it's just mental illness and im overthinking it but with attention seeking behavior you'd think the person seeking attention wouldn't have to be pressured into making the false attention seeking claims

Give us a gimmicky website with lore about the location and era Steel Wool, it feels like they're deathly afraid of giving the community too much before release as a result of how Security Breach went. And I don't think too much is really necessary either, I just miss the old hype cycle. Is it worth getting up to date with FNAF? I started losing interest around 3, I liked how the story was relatively grounded (child ghosts aside) but when it started focusing more on the Afton family and they added 56 variants of every character.

The important thing about Tales was that The Mimic was created by Edwin for a kid named David who had a white tiger plush. Those things are now inarguable. Also Dawko said Steel Wool knew the reveal would be important to the fans meaning the obvious intention is "Look, Tales!"

How can any of the Frights books even be assumed as canon? I admit I haven’t read them as I am a bit too old for that kind of literature (aimed at literal schoolchildren, that is), but even judging by their brief synopsises they give me an impression of some weird shit that only happens to share some incredibly vague relation to the games continuity, and even in that they make literally zero sense within the Fnaf universe as a whole.

It has Gregory in it. It has the Glamrocks. It gives The Mimic's origin story and explains how he ends up in the Pizzaplex. The rest of the Tales stories are too irrelevant to impact anything.

It is literally a direct sequel to FFPS, and explains why the Vengeful Spirit is called a "he" and "him" despite Cassidy being a chick (which was confirmed by Return to the Pit)

Return to the Pit is an adaptation of Into the Pit that fits with the game lore better then the original story, since it goes out of it’s way to say that there were five MCI victims instead of six, that the murders happened in the safe room instead of the party room, etc.
The original and RttP can’t both be canon.

One thing about SOTM's gameplay I love so far is apparently there's much more to the Jackie chase than just "hold forward and follow the path to win", like you're juggling a variety of tasks as she's coming for you and it's supposed to be decently difficult. The mimic chase in Ruin had a tiny bit of that with the fazwrench puzzle at the end, but those were hardly any challenge to begin with and Mimic's always a million miles away (in fact I believe you can actually do that entire chase without sprinting and still manage to win)
