it's pretty common for something meant to be the least common element. has more to do with the lack of enemy variety in maps than anything, and a bunch of ritual hazards are chaos based. having chaos res is really nice for anything using ES that isn't CI due to the double damage on ES nature of chaos, but it's definitely the least important stat. my sparkmage with 3.6k ES and 4.5k mana and 1.4k life can still get obliterated on a bad combination of map mods, someone working with 15% of my total pool even with lots of evasion is obviously gonna have problems. If that character had even 2.5k and decent recovery it'd be manageable.

Man is the premise for POE2's endgame really gonna be the Cataclysm janny shit? I really hope it's a fucking placeholder. Are you using a widowhail? If so I assume your quiver is probably ass, because that's where most of your dps comes from. Pic related is the one I'm using right now.

Try to get something with flat cold, +2 proj skills, dex and bow damage. Also make sure to get to 350% quiver effect.

Example, if you have a 248% widowhail you need 2 gems with +11% quiver effect + the 80% from your tree.

I'm seeing way too many Uber Lilith style fights from Diablo 4 where you're just forced to play along with their dance where they are just either in the air and untargetable or invincible and do their mechanics that you simply cannot build defensively for because they are hardcoded to do 1 million damage. D2 never had this issue I don't understand why after 2+ decades devs simply cannot get it right. I could build a giga tank that could sit there and lifetap uber mephisto but you cannot do that in PoE 2, it's not allowed. So instead of being a cuck and dodge rolling through aids beams I can just one tap the boss the moment the fight starts and skip everything. Surely this isn't intended design? They designed these spectacle fights that you're incentivized to skip because one mistake means an instagib from the boss. It's bad enough that in maps all the nice affixes go away if you die in one but in a trial after slogging 30 minutes to get to the boss you just die and have to repeat the whole process again.

That's the thing though, this is poe2, their chance to actually change things. They clearly WANT things to change, but until they design the game differently they will not change. Stuff like howa and archmage and deleting the whole screen is what people will figure out with every whack-a-mole nerf, because damage is king. Delete one method, people will figure out another to do the same, even if it's more expensive or more restrictive on builds. Until they make the game differently there is no reason to not focus on having the highest possible DPS on a single skill that clears the whole screen.

They can want what they want but there is no legitimate reason to not have it. I shouldn't have to watch a recording of my character dying in 0.0001 speed and analyze every pixel to figure out what killed me. It's not as bad in PoE2 currently but we've seen how ridiculous deaths are in PoE and it's going to get that bad as the game is fleshed out.

My atlas right now is just left full of trash like hidden grotto, vaal factory, forge, abyss, etc. I don't even want to lift the fog on some edges because I have to run through those trash maps. It wouldn't be so bad if they at least marked rare mobs on entry but GGG is just allergic to QOL. This whole new map system is just garbage.

TLDR because divines have a use, are dropped commonly enough by rares and exalts are just filling out missed rolls by shit you picked up off the ground. Until essences are worth a shit exalts will stay worthless compared to divs. They fucked up hard not having a crafting bench to regulate prices, not for divines but for exalts, they really have too little purpose. I get the idea behind "every item can have 6 mod slots filled" without a free slot being preferable due to the bench, but there are better solutions to that problem than what we have. Replacing runes/cores is great but it doesn't leave exalts with a purpose beyond adding +10 life or +accuracy to your otherwise good item you have likely from reforging.

monster hunter relies heavily on the state you get the monster in, a hammer character is gonna blast the shit out of a monsters head, a greatsword is gonna just cut the fuck out of its tail if it has one, each will have different rates of getting the monster into a stunned state to do big dps. Nothing like that exists in poe2, you just deal more dps than another build or you don't and that difference isn't a few 10s of % like monster hunter, it can be 5-10x more damage dealt in the same time and the game will be balanced around characters doing that massively higher damage.

yes but you also fail to mention that monster hunter is incredibly easy to force the same sequence of events over and over and over again because capcom has used the same ai and movesets for decades, find me how many monsters start with a roar compared to those that don't. MH is INCREDIBLY spreadhseet heavy, rng in fights really is not a problem with how easy you can manipulate it.

Divines were intended to be and always will be the $100 bill of poe2, just like exalts were the $100 bill in poe1 before the divine switcharoo. People need a dollar for inconsequential crap like catalysts/vaals/regals/whatever and a 100 dollar that the inventory can fit for big trades. Divines are meant to be sunk into the chase uniques like against the darkness but there's too little demand for those compared to say megalomaniac which every single build wants one of. The price of divines is controlled by the possibility of a perfect jewel, but exalts have nothing to keep their value, they are simply filler currency like augments.

as someone who played SSF for a good while, I still had a damn good use for divines to get resists in a state I wanted, or getting a staff to +7 instead of +6. Once I decided to say fuck this and switch to trade I realised the 3 divines I spent get +7 on my staff could have been spent on a much, much better staff. I don't mind cause it's void league anyway but man, trade league makes almost everything worthless and they design the game around this shit.

It's just not fun, it ends up having the opposite of their intended effect, when I find decent bases it doesn't fill me with positive emotions, seeing that I just found a good item that I can work with. Why? Because I can't work with it, I can't turn it into a great item, all I can do is roll the (fixed) dice and in the 99% chance it fails my only choice is to roll an even lower chance dice to attempt to fix it.

I don't even bother, it's easier to sell random shit and buy what I want than to deal with the waste of time and effort that is slamming.
