Youre going to have to learn to play the game as it is, not as you imagine it should be.

1. Future fighting games and patches for current fighting games must be less mickey.

2. Reverse all localisation changes made to Street Fighter, no Shoto, no Raging Demon, no name swaps, they are all bad.

it feels like you have to drive rush jab as ken sometimes to get in against people playing super passive. having slightly stubby drive rush cancels makes it scary to try to approach a lot of characters. you can try to bait whiffs all you want but its ultimately a guess and if you spend too long trying to bait whiffs, they're gonna get in on you instead and you're gonna lose every round to never getting in and always holding pressure from them.

Also, the expectations of a GAS has changed a ton over the years. Games need monthly to bi-monthly updates to keep ppl engaged. Way more than SF5 & especially 4. To be real, one of SF6s issues is that it feels like it’s supposed to be a GAS, but without said content updates. The strictly competitive side is getting a 10+ year old fighting game experience in terms of content.

They're saturated if thats what you mean. There are plenty of "good" games for every kind of taste imaginable. Casuals that dont like fighting games have their own slop to play if they're bored of SF6. Every big dev has ruined their games in the name of attaining modern audiences and they can't delete the old, better games so there is choice for everyone. The only reason to play a new fighting game now is to be "relevant" and keep up with modern society. That's a big deal for most people, people want to be up to date and current with the world around them. Everyone knows the current games are dogwater deep down.

Virtua fighter and COTW have a chance to carve out new spaces because KOF and VF are the LAST franchises that haven't fully modernized yet. VF can capitalize on tekken 8 being trash and COTW can capitalize on SF burnouts and the homeless VSfags

Rivals has actual art direction and artists who know what they're doing. SF6's models look like they were designed by people who had never made 3D models before and didn't communicate with each other so the characters don't even have a consistent visual style, Chun Li looks like an actual person but Cammy has these giant anime eyes that set off the uncanny valley for some people. It's amazing how much better my mood is when playing long sets vs FT2 in ranked. On the off chance someone is willing to enter a custom room after a ranked match I end up respecting them as a player, learn more and just have a lot more fun, win or lose. Fun fact it was patched. The revision you all play is the 2nd revision of 3rd strike. The patch that exists before it removed ORO and URIEN’s unblockables. This was seen as dumb and Capcom listened to the Japanese fanbase(who hadn’t really hated SF3 like the USA)

When Player 2 selects Yang, the sprite displayed for his second Super Art, Tenshin Senkyutai, mistakenly shows Necro's first Super Art, Magnetic Storm, complete with the input for it. Strangely, this goof does not occur when Player 1 selects Yang. It is merely a graphical error and in gameplay Yang will still have Tenshin Senkyutai and be able to pull it off without serious error. This is fixed in revision 990608 (June 8, 1999).
Revision 990512 (May 12, 1999) has a bug that causes the game to crash if Ken defeats Makoto using his neutral throw. This was fixed in revision 990608... but it also made some unblockables of Oro and Urien blockable, much to the ire of competitive players.
The PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 Online Edition port is based on a modified 990512 build that fixed the Ken/Makoto throw bug while retaining the unblockable moves.
Revision 990608 changed the juggle points of Necro's "elbow cannon" from 1 to 2, limiting his powerful "Elbow Cannon X6" juggle on Urien, Alex, and Hugo.
While not Homogenized as SF6, 3s did indeed remove shit but obviously nobody respects the devs intentions. BUT the last revision from SF30th uses the post Makoto bug fix one and has Urien and Oros unblockables, so Capcom USA and Japan at least have a minor pulse on what the community plays

When its used randomly on a read and you can't react because you dared to use a non cancellable move (or the frames ran out before human reaction time) that's the worst part of DI. It wasn't skill, it wasn't even really a read because you're not sure what the opponent is going to do, you are just hoping its one of the 70% of moves they have that loses to DI.

It's the game's gimmick. It has various system mechanic type implications and uses and those are whatever.
The problem is that it gives you Korean MMO style control over your character at a push of a button, even while doing other things. You can now turn around at all times freely, even mid attack. You no longer need to control what you're doing to ensure you can still hit the monster, you just hold a trigger and turn 180 mid TCS.

I'm kind of looking forward to Civ 7 though, mostly because if there's the same level of refinement in Civ 7 stealing Humankind's ideas as there was in Civ 6 stealing Endless Legend's ideas it should be very good. People shat on humankind and it was kind of retarded but it's core mechanics (not just the pick-a-civ-per-age-thing) were very, very innovative and solved a lot of core problems with the 4X genre. Its huge cities were the perfect middleground between classic province improvements and modern districting mechanics, and its diplomacy was oddly tuned but did a lot to build up the depth in decisions AROUND war that weren't just fighting efficiently directly.

If raw drive rush was gone, it would certainly make the game more solid. Perhaps TOO solid, people would be committing mass suicide if this change occured. Low forward drive rush would be the only way in, leading to more whiff punishing since you don't have to worry about checking drive rush.

If drive rush cancel was gone, you would have smaller combos and you would have to confirm into super in harder ways. Ex moves become way more important. The game would be more solid as a result but aki would be even more obnoxious. Overall this would be a bad change that makes the game more random and annoying.

If perfect parry was gone, the game would be extremely solid, since you could simply space someone out and also setplay them on wakeup without fear. timmies would have no recourse and their only options defensively would be to block (out of the question for them) and drive impact. This would be the best change in my opinion, but it could lead to mass revolts.

If regular parry was gone, then perfect parry would have a vulnerable recovery and be much harder to execute mid screen. You would be able to delay your normal by a few frames and punish counter someone with a long poke. It doesn't get more street fighter than that, this would be a good change. Wakeup would still be mickey but at least it would be harder to land a successful perfect parry, meaning bad players will lost more often.

For how much they change and how genuinely decent their hardware is, you'd think they could hire some half decent programmers.

I have one of their controllers with the swappable analogue stick positions and it's genuinely really well engineered but fuck me the software just didn't work for like 2 years.

That would be harder, I didn't say it was hard.

With drive rush you could just slime in on hit or on block and have forever to confirm. Without it, you'd have to pay more attention and limit it to punishes more often. That's "harder" and it would filter most SF6 players.

Yes the combo itself is easy, the hard part is going to be landing it on someone who is better than you. Without drive rush cancel saving you on block and giving you more time and damage, it would make a big difference.
