That behaviour still exists on RP realms
Moonguard US or Argent Dawn EU have players vibing and chilling in towns and cities on an Out of Character (not actively RPing basis)
People like to meme on Goldshire that it's a den of depravity and ERP, but that's only really inside of the inn
Outside of the inn, it's mostly people talking, socialising, duelling etc.
You don't get this on normal realms because it's all sharded and you get put into a random shard. AD/MG are still treated like oldschool realms where if two players of the same realm are in the same place they'll see each other (at least outside of the newest expansion)

Stormwind is already a laggy mess and MG already has enough tourists.

MG is going to just keep getting bigger because WrA is dying/dead. So now not only do you have Alliance RPers playing on it but Horde players joining too. I don't really mind though, that means we will get to see a lot more open world RP PvP events which is cool.

I think season 2 cannot be saved at this point even with good changes. If DF S1 is any example people fucking hated thundering but overall the season saw a decent play rate. S2 of DF saw a massive dropoff of players at the start even with the removal of a seasonal affix and gearing change.
TWW season 2 will probably follow in the same way from people just not showing up from being burnt from season 1, but this time around it will look even worse as the numbers overall are just lower.

All they have to do is reverse all the m+ changes desu. In an effort to please maybe 5 streamers devs alienated thousands of people and now we're reaching dragonflight season 4 numbers during the first season of a new expansion. Without a full reset I imagine they can lower myth track gear to +8 and keep portals at 10 but having them both at the same key level is very literally retarded. I'm not a game dev and even I could tell this would filter far too many people. Doesn't matter if I can run 10s when tens of thousands of people just dropped the game for something else. SL s2 had a better pvp season and better m+ season than this one currently does. i actually had fun with tormented and i liked SLs overall m+ pool (even though it was just standard sl dungeons) than the horse shit we have now. sanctum sucked dicks but we still had a few gems in the raid (painsmith)

Tank was a megapuller and died during the maze because I was too busy running about trying to look at the pictures. (second time in dungeon, just learned the 2 for 2 trick) My short-term memory is fucking dogshit.

I died to a dodgeball trying to look at the pictures on the 4 clones (this was after the tank had already identified the correct one). My unitframes display on top of the pictures, obscuring them.

I died because the vulpin spawned right next to me, and ran in to me, even though it was fixated on someone else.
Wiped 3 times on second boss.

Wiped 2 times on last boss
First pull the monk died, I bressed. I look later and somehow he's still dead. Did my bres go off? Pally bressed him. He accepts and dies instantly to ground pools.
Second pull I can't remember.
Third pull monk dies quickly. Pally and priest keep themselves alive but I end up on the other side of the room after dodging the ground pool spawns. They die. The tank and I duo the last 50% of boss health. About half way through I remember I'm a resto druid and I can put rip on the target.
><Mythic+ (6) Tred'ova down after 6 minutes and 50.40 seconds

8 minutes 50 seconds overtime.

Hi guys, last time I played was a few expansions ago. I like doing old raids solo. I cannot figure out how to get to Antorus raid from Legion, or even its zone - Argus. I managed to find some airship but I cannot actually get off it on the ground.

The writing is so fucking bad in this expansion. In one scene, it is shown that stormriders can easily destroy Nerubians by the thousands. In the next scene, the new dwarves are losing against Nerubians on foot. The scene after that, somehow the dismounted dwarves are easily able to tackle their own (corrupted) stormriders??? I mean, player character canonically has taken on enough for their entire faction to recognise them to a point of commander, whichever class they are has taken hold of -insert artifact here-, and canonically wielded/crafted -insert legendary weapon here-.
Quite frankly, if I use Shadowmorne as an example, Frostmorne 1.5, I don't really see how most things after the ICC raid are supposed to be a threat. Nothing ever said the DK's took Shadowmorne anywhere, for all anyone knows its canon that -player character- still has it.

And yet, when doing a delve +10, a fucking kobold can one-tap you while you have to utilize all your arsenal of superhuman abilities to kill it.
Yeah, the game has never made sense in this regard.
Same with how the creatures just keep getting bigger as you level - they are the same size on your screen, because you unconsciously zoom out to keep them all in one picture, but it's where the calls for higher zoom distance stems from.
I think the absolute pinnacle of this retarded design is Supremus in BT.

IMO the world in TWW sucks dog anus. I was doing ALL of the events every single week on 20 different characters through all of DF. I had a lot of fun and earned 37,000,000 bonus gold throughout the expansion in the process.

TWW just doesn't have the same appeal, vibe, and allure. The zones feel hamfisted & forced. The entire x-pac feels like that. Like ... the theater thing is lame, the awakening thing is boring, there's no suffusion camp, no superb loom, no siege, nothing particularly interesting. The lamplighter quests are just typical daily quests - nothing at all interesting or new. Which is too bad because I like the dungeons and the raid.

It used to be establishing a small circle of acquaintances was the barrier to entry to even doing a 5 man dungeon. you HAD TO make a some friends to do any kind of content beyond quests and later bgs, before the automated tools existed and prior to those tools the entire process of making contacts and then organizing a group from those contacts to do an instance was manual and social. Whispering people, spamming trade to fill gaps, everyone taps their gchat LF tank SM Graveyard

the social fabric of modern WoW is threadbare and tattered by comparison. Even the "Social" sectors of the content library are largely handled by tools and you dont have to know anyone to get access, you have RIO or M+ score or Ilevel displayed through a third party tool, you dont talk to a person and decide if you want them in your group, you read specs off a sheet and determine if the specs on the sheet match requirements like you're fitting a part into a machine, not a person into a social group.

I don't think classic is better, but retail has lost something that it still has.

I did a bunch of M+ in legion and was sick of it by BfA, Challenge mode was a better format.
I spent two expansions, BfA and SLands just not caring about M+ at all, but in Dlfight and now in TWW the M+ community has gotta so toxic and retarded that I can't even do 5 man leveling dungeons without some retard screaming about wasted time and suboptimal pathing. Like shitting pants and throwing tantrums cus I pulled an extra pack for xp or cus I want to do the side bosses. Theres always someone now who cannot just be chill and clear the dungeon.

For m+ it's a numbers game. You basically need to hit the ground running and push your key from week 1 day 1 and never slack. If you ever take a break and fall behind the pack of pushers you're fucked and will need to network or just sit in LFG forever. But if you play like an autistic degen your io will always be high enough that you can start groups or get invited and run enough keys without comms that eventually you time stuff and your io goes up. It's an atrocious slog though. I opted to network and make friends and join a guild while I knew a guy who went the 100% pug route and he legitimately had to play more hours than a full time job to hit title. Then he finally socialized with people he played with in title range and got invited to a HoF guild. I think only the biggest of autists can do the pure pug thing every season because yeah your experience is simply going to be 1000 times easier if you network, that's just life.

this phenomenon is NUTS. I did an anniversary TW dungeon (DM) last week on my 70 ret pally (all with DF S4 gear so it was very well-geared) and was just going HAM by pulling everything and blitzing it all. The level 10 BM tank barely got to tank anything. Nobody died the entire dungeon and we cleared it FAST. The tank complained several times that I should stop tanking and stop pulling. The little freak messaged me after the dungeon and called me a narcissist saying I should play a tank if I want to tank and immediately /ignore'ed me before I could /r to tell them to find something more important to get upset over. What a little fucking freak. lol. people are crazy about the dumbest thing. like ... we cleared the dungeon with no problems .... no idea what there is to get upset over.

The worst feeling is starting the week with a great key, depleting it a couple of times, then getting only lower and lower quality players applying and you're in a range where you can't carry so you deplete again and maybe if you're lucky you can raise it back up a few levels or maybe it drops again and becomes a completey dead key becuse nobody at your skill level is gonna want to do a 21 when they need a 25 for io. And then you need X dungeon but never roll into it because you can't select your key so you spend a week doing all sorts of irrelevant dungeons wasting your life. Depletes sorta worked when everyone was stuck home during covid and had literally nothing else to do with their life but outside of that it eventually pushes away 99% of potential key enjoyers outside of streamers who need to do it for a living or the most diehard mazed monogamer spergs of which there's like maybe 800 in NA.

The main problem is that they don't really play the game the way we do. They log in and run some +2s during maintenance to make sure nothing is catastrophically broken before servers go up and then maybe they do some dungeons with other staff or friends throughout the season but they're not really getting the LFG deplete time wasting experience that most of us mere mortals deal with. And for whatever reason they just. ignore everyone crying about it because I guess the wow podcast circlejerk that gets signal boosted to wowhead are all happy as a clam running their 57 homework keys a week since it's free twitch revenue. And maybe 10% of players have timed all +10s with way less touching keys where this is a substantial problem so the devs figure why cater to such few people instead of realizing that if they made it better, more fun, easy and accessible, way more people might get interested in playing. So they let it languish.

Yeah they are not good game developers. I think this all stems from them not enjoying their work because Blizzard is not a good company to work for. I don't know what it's like now that Microshaft is in charge and how the day-to-day operations have changed, if at all, but before the acquisition there have been many former Blizzies coming forward on YT and spilling the beans that it's a shit employer who pays 36% of industry standard and does not respect or appreciate their employees.
