Yes. In pure gameplay I consider it the best fighting game ever made bar none, or at least the best I've played in 21 years I've played the genre. Sadly it has a lot of other issues holding it back but in gameplay it's just unmatched, 100%

Why were 4 of the 8 premiers this year made up tournaments (cream city, kings of the world, both super premiers)?

Capcom used to partner with established tournaments for the vaste majority of the tour. Even accounting for covid killing a bunch there should've been enough for 3 or 4 more.

I liked SF5, but I only put like 300 hours into it because of the netcode, I couldn't play sets vs friends and asking for FT10's is all I do. Birdie is the most enjoyable SF character to play though he was very fun.

You bros tried/played the first EX game? It's worth emulating just to fuck around with the Arika characters, because they legit shit on all the Capcom OGs. Allen Snider is my favorite shoto of all time and that's purely based on gameplay.

I'm getting to the point where I wonder why I even try to play this fucking game with any intent of breaking past an intermediate level
>genuinely hate fighting against over half the roster
>can't ever punish or open people up
>try to take my turn back after blocking something and my jab gets stuffed every single time
>try and space and poke with normals but just get whiff punished
>constantly drop combos I've practiced routinely in training mode, end up defaulting to flow charty offense as a result
>try and play patient and clean, still end up losing due to not doing optimal punish combos and getting out-damaged over the match
I go through this cycle of really wanting to sit with the game and grind ranked, but only end up playing for about a week or two slowly climbing and then getting way too tilted and burned out. Take a break for some months and then come back to the game, lose all my progress and then repeat the cycle.

This is the point where you either play casually(read: no longer worrying about being the best, etc), or just stop playing altogether. This isn't the game for you. I am not saying this to be dismissive. I chose the latter, because I'm better off investing my energy into other things. I've already accomplished my goals. I reached master a while ago, and I won and offline and online tournament. There was nothing else of interest for me to work for other than simply working on myself.

I wanted to still like this game too since it's very rare to have a fighting game with good online and a proper ranking system, but the volatile aspect of it was simply not fun for me to work around. Yes, I was only 1500-1600 mr level for a long time so I definitely had shit to work on, but this volatile shit wasn't fun to work around.

Until the drive system gets entirely reworked, I'll just civilly shitpost here and play other games. Hope you find your peace.

That's because there's not really a mid range vs rushdown in this game. Everyone is "rushdown". Everyone wants to get in and throw loop. Ironically it's the grapplers that are most likely to end up playing the most neutral in this game. Everyone plays the same game whether in neutral or on offense/defense, just with slightly different gimmicks, and which characters get in easier is matchup dependent.

Dee Jay is arguably the only other one that they did a decent job with. His new look is loud and garish, just like him and his fighting style. I think they could have ditched the painted Union Jack on Cammy's jacket but it's otherwise a good design. She still looks fast and agile while maintaining a casual appearance plus her ass is still fat as fuck. People are just autistic as fuck about her keeping her braids and leotard and thank fuck they let you have it, despite it looking fucking stupid in RE engine.

I think you were just overestimating a players reaction speeds lol
If you want other ways to open people up you should tell us who you play.
But in general you want to do a plus on block move (you recover first and can attack before them) then you either hit them or throw them.
Obviously there can be more stuff to do depending on characters but thats pretty much universal.
Most projectile characters will have good anti airs, if your opponent reacts and jumps you can recover and anti air them, if they jump on prediction and you do nothing you can also anti air them.

The issue is you are jumping on reaction, you are too late if you try to react to a fireball, they will recover and anti air you, thats the point of a fireball.
If you could react to it and punish it they would be useless.
Try parrying or blocking the fireball and walking forward or jumping on prediction.
Although you can jump them if you are far away enough that he cant anti air you, neutral jump if you want to stall.

What rank are you? Dont be discouraged it just sounds like you dont know what to do when you are plus and can mix them.
Getting in just means getting close enough to mix them up with throws.
If they block fireball+DR then you got in.
Her overhead and her lows will be plus from a DR, if they block just throw them.
If they counter the throws too much then hit them.
If they block and counter the throws you are now at the point where you need to learn a shimmy.

Not him but I'll also add on the homogenization of the characters that they made Chun's walkspeed basically the same as the other fast charatcters. Like every characters have a powerful mechanic that is proper to them, but Chun doesn't really have that anymore, everything that she has she shares it with other characters.

The thing I hate most about SF6 is just how ugly it is. I could probably stomach it a lot more if it had a cool artstyle instead of the semi realism garbage we ended up getting. I still play Soive just because it looks nice.

same as above, lots of character nerfs that shift tiers but aren't fundamentally improving the game or shaking up the meta. i agree deejay's sway was too good and i'm glad its gone but at the same time it was homogenizing the game. same with amnesia, obviously way too good prepatch but still good enough that it helps jp be unique.

I saw Tokido at a grocery store in Dubai yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and holding his eye drops in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen hitboxes in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the controllers and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each box and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

people who say sweep v trigger really did not even play jive like that. It doesn't even make sense to compare the two if you played it. A better comparison would be certain characters V triggers allowing them to be mickey for 20 seconds. But V triggers were so unique and different in power that you can't even say they're bad in the same way.
