Shock siphon is the only % recovery of ES in the game, right? That alone makes anything ES in maps so much easier. Recharge is a worthless mechanic generally because every step you take there's another dot ground effect or tiny dipshit throwing a 1 damage projectile at you.

I run like ten times, only pass like 3 times.
I have enough dps to beat the boss in 5sec, but I can't consistently clear the adds at the start.

Like, sometimes the timer just goes slower and I can get to the boss room
and sometimes I can't even get to halfway

is there any tips for it?

my guess is that, the run that I succeeded spawned more rare mobs, so they delay the timer longer

the bare minimum is 1x currency and 1x premium so you can sell items (you can also upgrade a normal to premium).
Spend the rest how you want to, just avoid flask and unique stash, they're not worth it. Also Essence tab was a must in poe 1, but in poe 2 it's not that important because there's way less essences (and they suck anyway)
Probably I would keep a few of those shekels for the waystone tab which I guess is eventually coming.

On-death effects are exhausting. I say that as a spark spellweaver, with a massive ehp pool + CI , so I can facetank all on-death without issue. I can't imagine what people playing life-based char are feeling right now.

Mobs' speed is frustrating. I feel like deleting whole screens at once is the best way to survive because you WILL meet a pack of hasted rare that WILL bodyblock and stunlock you to oblivion.

Combat was advertised as methodical. It isn't after like act 3. Mobs are no different from poe1 while most builds are stuck at poe2 powerlevel.

Ascending isn't very fun. I'm glad I crushed all trials with CoC comet before it got destroyed. "Sanctum" is blatantly unfair to some builds, while Ultimatum is absurdly overtuned. The biggest issue is that both of those are so full of RNG from afflictions / mods. I can't believe this is worse than lab.

The gem system is strangely restrictive. Most spells and support aren't available until very late in Cruel. 6L are very expensive for casual players, and discourage experimentation since they're linked to a single gem.

Horrible map layouts being forced on players. I feel that not being able to set-up a 50 maps farming session, with a good tileset is 60%+ of the reason why poe2 mapping is so exhausting.
Augury and Myre. Maps need to be shortened by at least 50%, and add a boss to every map.
Backtracking for a single rare. Having to kill every rare.
Towers feel like a complete waste of time. They should either be "open" whenever an adjacent map is completed, or be a single boss fight room. Imagine being forced to run a Pillars of Arun in poe1 everytime you want to use a sextant.
Having to scrolls for 40s in the new atlas. No search bar, no way to zoom out to see everything in graph form.
Atlas skill points being locked behind their respective boss fight. Why ? It feels awful. You're forced to gamble on an expensive invitation 4 times to not lose currency. With 1 portal. You should simply have to complete league encounters in higher and higher tiers maps...

Finding citadels involve zero skill. You can't learn bioms or world so you can have a clue where to "dig". You could waste HOURS of searching and then die because of off-screen caster that drops meteor on you (do you see that barely visible red circle under your feet while been surrounded by 30 monsters? too bad...)
No crafting bench / things to adjust small changes in your gear. Anybody here really like an idea to change ALL GEAR every time you find a new piece of gear because it has different resistance? Even in PoE we still wait when we could switch attributes on gear. Because change the whole items because you miss 3 Int isn't fun at all. And in PoE2 if you find a new boots with good res but it is not res you have now... Well now you need to chain-change almost every item to be able cap res again. Why?

% recovery specifically is really good for ES cause you can have way more ES than you usually do life, so with 6k ES each kill with shock siphon is giving you 240, means sustaining is incredibly easy. You can get % life/mana recovery on kill easy from jewels or the tree, but not for ES, that's only on shock siphon.

For as much success as PoE1 had, it definitely wasn't purely because of GGG action. Players spoke heavily and rebuked very aggressively many of the unpopular decisions made into PoE1.
The real issue is that GGG doesn't really exhibit much in terms of learning from past work and applying it forward. Stuff like the AN league's league-specific inventory starting at 5x5, being raised to 10x10 and no further prior to league launch due to player complaints, and then fast forward a few leagues to Necropolis with terrible corpse storage is one easy example. The list is pretty long, from stuff like poor reward/difficulty balance, lots of "channeling" league events, AN mods widespread on all mobs, so on and so on.
The reason GGG introduces so many stepbacks is because whatever is in PoE2 is what they think/believe is good game design. That despite years of history and institutional experience showing that it isn't, they still wholeheartedly and doggedly believe it is good game design. In an era where a series as classic as Dragon Quest introducing overworld encounters over random encounters in the primary way players play the game in DQ 11S?
I don't think there's much need to give them more rope than they deserve here. Which then brings up another important consideration: maybe GGG aren't as good at game design as we all hope they are.
Hopefully the player base at large doesn't start compromising and capitulating just to move the needled a little bit further towards them, because some systems really do need to be redesigned from the ground up.

Overall it feels like every aspect of this game contributes to RNG that's straight up hostile to players.
We're supposed to play slow and methodical, but monsters are way too fast with way too many mechanics that oneshot. We're supposed to dodge and kite smartly in order to survive, but most maps consist of narrow passages and corridors that make this impossible. We're supposed to read monster animations to react appropriately, but have to play in very dark and/or visually noisy maps where monsters blend in perfectly. The field of view is so narrow that monsters are already mid animation when they pop up at the border of your screen.
This just leads to consistent deaths that most of the time completely feel out of our control, which is frustrating enough already, but then we're also punished in three key areas for it by losing XP, the waystone and every map mechanic, making progress near impossible.
Honestly I don't see myself playing this game in the future at all if this isn't fundamentally changed. A lot of decisions made for more "meaningful" gameplay have massive downsides that far outweigh the psychological benefits.

Even with a meta build the farm/grind is tedious. You always have to be ready to dodge a stupid death effect or a weird mechanic from a trash mobs. This is not why we play ARPG desu.
The end game isn’t that “hard” it’s just tedious frustrating and time consuming with no sense of progress. Everything is kept behind the good old RNG. And the one portal makes it 1000 time worse.
It is hard to believe they could make some many of the mistakes they finally solved in Poe 1. There is an amazing atlas, meaningful and with a clear path of progress. (We could argue the t17 might be a bit too much but that’s fine) you can chose the content you want, farm the layout you want and just have fun.
It’s a little disappointed because the bosses are so much fun, and there is a lot of good. But it’s mostly tainted by this non sense atlas and weird balancing at the end

I miss map tilesets being tied to specific tiers and having the sense of progression of moving into a new tier, doing new maps and not seeing the old ones anymore unless you liked their layouts and favorited them. It really kept things fresh, doing the same fucking tileset over and over again from T1s to T16+s is fucking tedious and one of like 500 things making mapping feel like dogshit in this game.

For context,
Never played PoE1, never even played an ARPG since Diablo 2 probably, wasnt interested in the grindfest of newer games.
This 'review' is after less than 30 hours of playtime, so take that however one wants. Being an alt-holic for most games i played like 8 characters and are between level 5-15 pretty much. (Have had other games where I end up with 30 high level characters etc if I enjoy it)
Good things;
The visuals of the game are great. the settings and bosses look amazing, spells and skill actions look great.
The boss fights for the most part are exciting, and a change certainly for other similar games it seems. Going even into the very first one in the tutorial and having to sweat to beat 'The Miller' is a good rush.
Having spells that chain off other spells and add effects is really nifty.
Starting with a stash across all characters is cool.

Loot.
I have never played any kind of similar game, or anything RPG like that did not have a bag of holding or extra bag space of some type. Playing on low gold, where you feel compelled to pick up everything, and sell everything, with only room for like 8 items, means running to town like every 2 min on a map. That feels terrible.
Gold drops. Brutal. Early game costs you 25 gold to identify - and 75% of the garbage dropped sells for less than that, so you can run around for a map and come out with the same gold you started with. Terrible. Chests, monsters, and objects drop like 1-2 gold most of the time - it feels pointless. And why have so many rocks/barrels/chests where you waste time breaking them to get 95% of the time 0 gold, and most of the rest again like 1-2 gold. It feels really stupid. Like why even bother put a mechanic into the game that is so pointless?
Having so much utter garbage loot also feels terrible. By level 6 or 7 on my characters i was already ignoring 75% of the things dropped on the ground - which seems really poor design. And at the same time I gave up on trying to buy vendor items for characters most of the time, since I assumed I need to save money for later. So early on I am both ignoring a bunch of loot as pointless, AND not buying stuff because i cant afford it - awesome!
Killing bosses didnt get you anything useful. Maybe a skill gem. Maybe something that sells for more than 25 gold. Doing 'quests' doesnt get you anything. The rush of fighting a boss because of the combat mechanics is immediately dampened down by the lack of any good rewards for doing it.
Playing multuple characters, within an hour or two was already doing the 'well I didnt find anything good for this character I am actually playing, but this item will be good for a new other character' - which seems handy - but is also depressing as you dont feel like you are progressing the character you are actually playing.

Skills and Level up;
Maybe this is news because I had never played PoE1, but having to 'loot' your skills as you level up is a fairly baffling choice. And again - doesnt feel good at all. Levelling up barely feels useful or exciting as the bonuses for most nodes are so small, until you have stacked dozens of them in later levels - feels close to useless. There is no excitement about levelling up because it doesnt do much of anything. Compounded since stats dont actually improve much (until it seems you get far up the tree and can get more bonuses from stats in many cases)
Early game skills feel meh. On multiple characters, despite having the highest rank of a 'main skill' I can get and support gems, it is worse than just attacking with the main weapon. Slower and less damage. Sorc, archer, warrior, all basically the same. Having seen many videos of high level builds where entire screens are exploding, I know it gets better, but it sure drags and doesnt feel good early levels.
Fights all seems the same already. Super fast mobs rush you before you can blink, ranged mobs spam attacks from the back, or some tanky ones walk forward more slowly. Fill the screen with aoe, do this hundreds of times. Every area has different looking mobs - but the function is basically the same.

Game design;
The fact that armor, by many complaints I have seen is 'basically useless' at high level seems like an odd choice.
Melee and basic attacks are clearly not a focus of the game. In all of the build videos and reviews I have seen pretty much any build, any class - is a Sorcerer. Literally every class progresses by filling the screen with explosions. In some cases it seems even killing mobs off screen - one teleporting monk build '200 million dps!' literally just flashed around the map at high speeds, finished a top tier map in 60 seconds - and you didnt even see any monsters after the first moments - everything everywhere literally was insta dead. Fun.

There is no crafting, as many have said - it is a gambling system. Having seen other systems where you can choose to add or even remove specific modifiers, and seeing this where its all random - well clearly gambling is the goal, not 'crafting'
The trading website, as other have said, is....sub-optimal. Saw a video showing a previous interview where the devs said the goal is to make trading have 'friction', i.e. slow down the power creep? What an absurd thing to do. Hardcore gamers, many 10s or hundred of thousands of them, will outpace any 'friction' you are trying to add - and just casual gamers get hosed by a janky system that top players benefit from (and keep ahead of the currency inflation curve). Having tried a few times to trade, getting ignored at first, then someone responds, but I find out I need to be level 25 to even trade? Meh - why bother.
There seems to be no 'RPG' in this 'ARPG game really at all - there is no plot or conversations, just 'go that way and kill bad guys, come back after and ill point you in another direction'.
Boss fights, and some mobs that can instakill you, sometimes from off screen? A game that claims to be a 'souls like skill game' that requires you to build in certain ways to avoid attacks you cant see coming seems odd. And from what I have seen/read, a lot of complaints about high level maps where you lose the map if killed etc. Fun for some maybe.

Summary;
The only reason I am even leaving this here is not expecting any changes or feedback (I expect there will be 95% 'git gud scrub' kind of stuff as typical, but whatever). I only spent money on this game because it was promoting itself as 'different' from other similar games, no power based microtransactions, a more 'tactical' game etc. And I feel like that was a misrepresentation and I wasted my money. I mean I had some fun initially, but the game became a slog and looking ahead, there is nothing interesting about grinding out hundreds of hours to 'currency farm' - to buy better gear....to be able to currency farm faster - by pushing two buttons and the screen explodes.
The visuals are great, but this is a gambling/farming game 100% - just with a nice coat of paint. It is designed from the ground up to hook people into the maximum time gambling, require huge investment to optimize classes and skills, and then run around pushing 2 buttons farming a few trade items while ignoring 99% of the things dropping as useless. And players are the ones also being farmed.
I guess I should have paid attention more to the company name - 'Grinding Gear Games' - and took the hint.

One thing that I find annoying and there might be other posts about this already, if not I guess I am in the minority. That is the fact that when you party up for endgame map runs if one person dies they are effectively waiting there until the rest of the party finishes the map. This seems bad to me, why do I want to party up with others if I get one hit and now have to wait 5-20 minutes for them to finish out the map.
Please bring revive to endgame maps. If there has to be a penalty for dying remove one of the portals for each death or something.

Just had the worst experience in 7 years of Path of Exile. The Ritual boss with a big tornado and several frogs coming at you while the boss mechanic doesn't allow you to even move is bad enough. But the pools of blood that flick you through the map constantly ticking and draging, not even dodge allows escaping it made the fight extremely horrible in melee. The collision in POE2 is even worse than in POE1, but the fight seems to be targeted for rangers and spellcasters, or for the blasters that delete the boss before any mechanic is up, because there is no window for damage uptime even if you destroy the totems. Losing the key felt bad too, hope the next one doesn't take so much time to find as the first one did. Surely there's some skill issue in my part, but at the same time the amount overlaying mechanics feels unfair.

Just stop being stupid, look at what you get for taking an inventory full of white and blue items to town for gold, compare the time it takes to do that to how much gold you get when you only take back rares. you get like 16-25 gold for a white item and 150-200g for a yellow, you literally make more gold just picking up raw gold than going back to town to sell a white item.

Everything else you said is also a skill issue, also you are basing some of your review points off of meme complaints you heard some other retard say, like armor making melee unviable, which isnt true.

Anyone else see some WEIRD fucking shit in a Breach every once in a while?
I just had one where there was an especially tanky mob with a unique model. It was like a dude in bony breach carapace armor. But it was humanoid.

I didn't get a chance to name hover. Every other mob was dead but this dude was running from the MIDDLE of the breach to me at the edge, and he was dropping this big wide purple ground every step, it had a 3d effect like it made a purple void in the ground.

I didn't get to kill it or name over it because i just saw him as the breach was rapidly closing.

What the fuck was that.

Some feedback after a month of playing.
- The new campaign story is great, the new bosses are great. However, the actual onboarding process, progression and quest system is very bad this paired with extremely large maps makes it very difficult to want to push through.
- One of the most obvious and frustrating progression issues is when you defeat a boss or find an item and get zero feedback or the person you saved is just waiting for you to go back to town. A better mechanism would be to just open a portal indicating you should go back to town, or take me back to town with the player. PoE1 did this. PoE2 should be able to as well.
- Another frustrating progression issue is when you drain the water from the vaal ruins. It opens the map to show you that it's drained and asks you to go back to town but you cannot just click the town, no, you have to close the map and then open a portal. Additionally, when you're doing the cruel playthrough the animation for draining the water doesn't even play?? So why open the map??
- Loading and waiting times are horrible. The campaign map alone takes around 3-5 seconds for each tab to load no matter what settings I use and I have a computer that can run this game on ultra settings perfectly fine in endgame maps with no lag. I cannot express how many times I've just taken a break from the game because of this alone.

- Campaign map view needs significantly better highlighting for quests (also a high contrast mode for visually impaired -- I'm not visually impaired but wow, would this have been nice) and a search function. Also, the tab you are on should be highlighted, I've accidentally clicked the wrong location multiple times after entering cruel only to realize I'm in the wrong difficulty.
- The endgame map needs a search and probably an entire overhaul, I really like the way it looks but it's not a great experience at all, definitely open world and no real motivation behind progression. This is actually where I'm losing most of my interest. The only thing pushing me forward is improving my build not the game.
- Melee (warrior at least, not sure about monk) needs to be re-worked as it feels the worst to play out of all classes.
- Movement speed is way too low, hard required to have movespeed on boots otherwise I would have quit the game. Additional 10-15% to base speed would be nice.
- Jewellers, would be nice if I could merge these to get a higher tier because man the drop-rate for the higher tier is low and it is definitely gating content.

- Trials, these suck, especially the first time you have to go through it, the honor system sucks so bad, I almost quit, I actually did quit on one character because of them. I refuse to ask for someone to help me out just so I can continue. I also hate the fact that it's a find an item to progress. I had to drudge through until level 75 before I could do my third ascendancy and that was only because I caved in and messaged over 300 people on the trade site to buy the item. I avoided these in PoE1 and now I'm forced to play them, I really hate it. It's to the point where I actually miss Izaro.
- Speaking of trade, it sucks. I think I'm at the point where I want to play the game and not the trade game. I remember trying to buy one item and having to message over 500 people just to get an item all of which who were listed as online. I realize, I could not do that and try to farm it and get it myself, which ultimately I did do but I do feel there are better alternatives now. I feel many others have expressed the desire for another system. The current one feels very lazy for a modern game and I understand the developers reasons for it and the socio-economic dynamics behind the current one... but it really sucks. At this point I would prefer an auction house that used gold with currency orbs or a single player game with better drop rates instead of another PoE1 experience.

it shouldnt be in the game at all. only certain builds can use it properly and the reason enigma even existed in D2 was because sorc teleport made every other class obsolete and enigma was a quick fix to try and balance the problem without making sorc players (75% of d2 players) go into fits of rage over their class getting nerfed (normalized)

I was around Doryanis Citadel and there were Act3 map nodes(sun boss) around it, very cool.
Defs wouldn't want to run them as much as the usual ones those since they are huge, but they seem to be rare which is cool

i dont think classes will have third ascendancies desu, I think each will get two and then the team will say they decided to try and balance the ones they have now instead of just adding more. warbringer is already the totem/tank/warcry ascendancy, titan is the stun/aoe one, what more is there?
Berserker will be rage, and the other marauder one will be the chieftain one that is totems but oriented more towards damage than warbringer, probably something like you get extra limit to totems and totems damage is affected by your weapon damage or something.

I think if they were to do third ascendancies then mercs third one would be a mercenary captain type ascendancy where you use humanoid minions

I am convinced that the root of all of PoE2's problems is trade. Trading fundamentally fucks the game in unreal ways. SSF is the only way forward in my opinion. Trade fucking ruins everything and boils everything down to weird wealth gaining spreadsheets and it also intensifies the feeling of needing to do less for more. Why run this boss key when I can sell it? Why do this mechanic if it doesn't shit out divs? Trade is the cancer killing you. Go to SSF. Everything Alkaizer says in this clip is true.

I think GGG doesn't want to do what last epoch does because GGG sees SSF as a "challenge league" and not just a different way to play. I don't want to play SSF and get showered with things and loot. I do however want certain mechanics to be less FRICTIONtm. Prime example. Trialmaster keys. There is no reason why you need three different keys to fight him. It should be just any three keys realistically. However, it is three different keys because of trade league. So certain things just to exist weirdly when it comes to trade league and SSF. SSF is far more enjoyable because it lets you savor the game in my opinion. With trade, your character power can vastly increase quickly by chance of a lucky drop and selling it.

Lore wise, the spires of deshar and a sky burial for the elite and holy. Those who are unworthy have normal ground burials, or will kill themselves at the base of the towers to be as close to the holy ascension as they can. The girl was sick and or dying and taking her life like that before being allowed in via honor was likely seen as weak and dishonorable.

He doesnt. hes making a "thorns build" but he doesnt know which abilities are good for thorns, he didnt even know that there were thorns enhancing spirit buffs. He picked titan but the best thorns ascendancy right is witchhunter because you can get 45% hp culling threshold as well as decimate which makes thorns clear screens actually pretty fast. hes complaining all stream about how shit his build is and how he hates playing it and he picked an ascendancy that is not very efficient at it.

I got a 3080 with a i7-12700F
yeah, ive been screwing with graphics. I really only crash when too many mobs are on the screen attacking. I drop to 1 frame at the start of each map, after that it runs pretty smoothly. That or until I open a breech and tank to 1 frame again.
