But when was the last time we got good Halo content from Microsoft? A doom crossover wouldn't have made Halo Infinite, 5, and 4 any worse. It wouldn't have even affected the development of those games. We would still get a shitty Halo game from 343, but at least we could have gotten a halfway decent spinoff game from Tim. IT could have been shitty too, but we'll never know.

Go play some team games on Hang 'em High and try to kill someone across the map in 1.4 seconds.
It's not happening with CE's more primitive aim assist. The H2 BR would absolutely hold its own in the CE sandbox: it'd be useful on any of the larger maps or maps with long lines of sight.

It's really not that hard. If you're that hopeless that you're spending half a mag to kill anyone, you're definitely not hitting 4-shots every time either. People like to clown on Halo's autoaim, but most people aren't good enough to consistently land perfects.

343 rebalanced it when porting the gun over to Halo 3. It has the same stats as Halo 5's magnum, but with a slower projectile.

Why would anyone have the 2 BR in 1 period? The BR is such an oppressive gun when it comes to longer ranges with its near hitscan level projectile speed. Combine that with the slower walking speed and short jump of 1 and 1’s multiplayer levels like blood gulch would suffer immensely over it. That’s why back in the custom edition days people stoped adding them to maps because it’s fundamentally incompatible with 1’s overall slower speed of gameplay.

It's not just the TTK, but how quickly items come up and the decisions regarding them. The average 2v2 Halo 1 game to 50 is just barely longer than the average 4v4 game of later Halos.

The most interesting weapons in Halo are not headshot weapons, nor full-auto weapons.

And don't forget you don't need to remove all the headshot weapons completely, just remove their headshot bonus. The sniper rifle would still kill in 2 hits and still be OP. The Focus Rifle would be a more useful weapon with its more sustainable fire rate instead of being ignored because the sniper rifle would be burning through ammo/reloads.
Removing headshots actually wouldn't change much in terms of the gameplay aside from the speed of kills between more skilled players, where we're talking just a second or so of savings with those headshots. It would simply be as if all players stopped hitting their headshots and went for body shots instead, and that only would be for the headshot weapons. Everything else in the sandbox is exactly the same. It would just lower the skill ceiling. It wouldn't remove the skill ceiling or make the game boring. I'd argue the headshot weapons are the least interesting in the Halo sandbox.

Plus, if you bring back dual-wielding it would improve the variety. And not every weapon needs to be perfectly balanced and fit exactly in a small niche and only that niche. It's okay to have dupes of weapons with some changes like rate of fire or damage or projectile speed, or have some niches bleed over into other niches.

Of course you'd do some rebalancing in terms of weapon spawns if needed, but don't forget that the BR and magnum stuff would still be in the game, you just won't be using them 90% of the time like we do now. This would also open the door to making brand new weapons and strategies. Take the Ravager for example. Its secondary function is the only one of its kind in Infinite. But what if you gave that fire effect to the Spiker? Reduce the rate of fire to that of the Disruptor, and make every spike emit a small flame that lasts for a couple seconds. Now you can preemptively spray a choke point to discourage access for a couple seconds. Maybe increase the reload time so you can't permanently deny an area too easily. Removing headshots would also reduce the ideal range of combat so that BTB is more fun and make you want to get in close instead of being boring like in Reach or Infinite where combat is too long range.

Halo is not the most skillful game to begin with. Let's not forget that older shooters used to bully Halo. But that's fine, it's okay for it to become more casual in an industry that's already too focused on easports and competitive modes. We've already thoroughly explored the esports side of Halo with 343 for over a decade. So why not go in the other direction this time? You had your competitive fun with 5 and Infinite and those games are still available to play. And Halo will still have competitive modes moving forward so it's not like it's going anywhere. Maybe you could add headshots back into ranked or something.

Anon is so full of shit about the Magnum vs. the BR.
I loaded up Hang ‘Em High in CE and Tombstone in H2, and went to the same point on each map. A good enough distance away to fire at the wall and look at the bullet decals (in H2 they won’t show up if you’re too far away from the point of impact).
In CE, even firing at semi-auto, there is a ton of random spread within the reticule, which will seriously effect your ability to hit anything at a certain range. Full auto increases your random spread pattern beyond the reticule, but at semi-auto, within the reticule, there is a random spread.
I went to the same point on the map on Tombstone and shot at the wall with the BR, and it’s dead-on accurate. Every shot lands in the exact same place within the reticule. On top of this, you have Halo 2’s increased aim magnetism.
Anon doesn’t actually play CE or know what the fuck he’s talking about.

Anon I play CE enough to know I’m right about this issue. Pistol duels on Hang ‘Em High take upwards of 2 seconds, even between skilled players, because of the random bullet spread within the reticule.
I also play enough Halo 2 to know, at the same distance, the BR would be the more reliable choice.

Here is a comparison between H1 Magnum bullet spread, shooting at the wall, semi-auto, from across the map on Prisoner, vs. the H2 BR spread (or lack thereof), shooting at the wall from across the map, roughly the same distance, on Ivory Tower.
Halo CE has less aim magnetism on scoped weapons than H2 does.
Under ideal conditions, you'll get the fabled 0.6 ttk - and ideal conditions are either perfect luck regarding the random spread, or being close enough (which is really within shotgun range) where the spread won't matter. This random spread determines the difference between body shots, headshots, and missing entirely, even on a pretty tight map like Prisoner: and it becomes more exaggerated at greater distance.
You don't get this with the BR, and you don't have to be as accurate in H2 as you have to be in H1 due to aim magnetism.

Reminder that anon was arguing the BR would be worse than the H1 needler if it was put into that sandbox.

Rarely. I mean just look at the picture you posted lmao. The spread is barely affecting accuracy (if at all) at mid/close-mid range. What really sets CE apart is that it doesn't have the same headshot auto-aim/magnetism that H2 onwards has. No swipe snipes or headshot flicks here. Auto aim is broken on the head very easily
CE also has bullet magnetism within its reticule (even outside of red reticule range) which corrects the effects of spread to begin with
Also if you're serious about thinking that H2 is faster than CE you're insane. 2s settings for CE go up to 50 because the game is over in the blink of an eye at the default of 25. People really need to stop conflating the pace of the game (tracking variables and reacting to information) with moving and killing things fast
I don't disagree with your overall point that the Halo 2 BR would be overpowered in CE. The auto aim and magnetism on it means it would be way way too much payoff for something very easy to use. But your facts about CE are off and theoretically at the highest level pistol users would still beat these hypothetical H2 BR users

If 343 were smart (they aren't) they would just turn MCC into a Halo Hub of all games. Halo 5 and Infinite included. Since they are going to rebrand and possibly restart there is no reason why they shouldn't just dump all Halo games to exist into MCC.

Bloom is barely a factor for the OG CE magnum. It still has bullet magnetism within the reticle so 99% of the time as long as the head is within the reticle you're going to hit the shot. You can obviously find some examples of bad luck (naturally as CE was meant to be a party game first and lucked into being a great competitive game) out of the box CE is rarely screwing people over due to bloom like Reach or BR spread in Halo 3.
The reason why magnum duels can take upwards of 2 seconds is because doing just that (i.e. keeping the head within the reticle) is much harder. The reticle is much less sticky, the shots require more leading at range, and it being a single shot weapon means you don't have the forgiveness of a burst to swipe with.

On non-CE MCC, totally. Infinite is a bit more competitive because 343 gave up and just added aim assist to mouse players.
But in either case, bullets will still curve the same on both input methods. The only difference is that controllers get their crosshair moved or slowed near an enemy.

Yes-ish? If your thing is 4v4 in H2 onwards I suppose you are disadvantaged. In CE you'll absolutely dominate if you're good with mkb, in the rest you'll be doing a hell of a lot more "effort" in aiming than a controller user to match them. But you can do flicks and become the most lethal thing in the universe in vehicles with a mouse.

Reach only allows you to create so many options. Halo 3 had its mode purpose-made, while Reach's uses the same scripting engine that the 360 version used. You could theoretically run Reach Escalation Slayer on a 360 if you wanted to. It's also why all the settings are in Specific Game Options, that's where anything that's not standard goes.

But if you're on the PC version, you can download the mod tools and rather easily make a custom weapon set.

Flood and Blood gave CE the M rating. Not sure if MCC ever fixed the blood splattering to coincide with the original xbox version. 2 and 3 are both pretty tame for M rated games. The Flood is intended to be body horror but it doesn't really comes off that way like it did with CE. I think the M rating is still appropriate but I could easily see them with a T rating. After 1-3 I don't think an M rating makes sense at all. There is no flood and blood is really toned down. I want them to be M rated and for them to earn that rating, but T is the appropriate rating for what we got post 3.

I sold my xbox 360 and all my games for it somewhere around 2011-2012...and my favorite Halo is 3. So yeah, I was pretty homesick for a while. I coped with Borderlands for the gunplay/campaign and Fortnite for my Big Team Battle fix, but once Halo 3 came to MCC I felt like I was back home. It took a while, but man it's great to be playing Halo 3 again. And now there's mods, a custom match browser, matchmaking with plenty of players, and even a dedicated Big Team Heavies playlist. Not to mention snappier controls, higher fps, higher resolution, graphics settings, etc. It's honestly really great.

I have never claimed to be good at Halo, nor do I particularly want to be.

I know there were a few reasons.
The most obvious one being that I like Halo's basic arena gameplay, and iterating on that, as opposed to doing the wackier custom games people prefer.
HOWEVER...
I ran my Halo 1 mod twice this week with at least 8 players each time (had a total of 15 players join the first session). Pretty good pull for a FFA session which I only ran for an hour and a half.
Also had very high player retention: with more than 5 players each time sticking around for the full session.

Pretty much any "high functioning autistic" behavior nowadays, would have been just normal masculine behavior in any other point in history. It's a similar problem to medicating kids for "ADHD" when they act out in a school system that was designed to train them to be factory workers.

I like to make things. I draw, I write, I've studied photography and cinematography, I'm trained to use a bunch of image and videoediting software (skills I hardly get to use), and I mod games.

Halo has the best physics and vehicular battles in the entire industry which sets it apart from every other shooter, so playing sweaty 4v4 with BRs/DMRs and pistols on cramped maps with only the sniper/rockets feels like a complete waste of the sandbox. All I play is BTB, Heavies, and Ultimate Firefight and wacky customs or fiesta.

I can easily spend an hour in a map alone just walking around and taking in the ambience or messing around with physics like hit broken tire rim to watch and hear how it rolls down a hill in different biomes (on sand, dirt, grass, etc). I will even pull up old clips and position the camera to watch it as if it was an RTS Tactical map or a desktop screensaver that can see the whole battlefield, or maybe pretend I'm news reporter and follow spartans around on foot. You can do this in campaign too where you can position the camera near the Covenant units as if you were embedded with them and then suddenly you get attacked by a lone Spartan (You/Chief) so now you're experiencing that fight you just had but from an entirely different perspective (and it's honestly kind of frightening lol, We always plays form the Chie'fs perspective, but imagine being on the side of the Covenant in a scouting party and suddenly your entire platoon is wiped in a matter of seconds and you can see it happen in real time).

So yeah you could get good at playing halo the most common way (gitting gud with the BR/DMR and Sniper with sick kills/360 noscopes) and you could put out some fun montages of your skill in action, but that's not the only way to play or obsess over Halo. Thanks for taking time to read this post.

NOT Halo. In the past couple of years I haven't heard anyone on a mic that actually made the game more coordinated than just being quiet. They're always chatting about their day with their friends, playing music, shouting at someone in the background, and just being too distracting. They might say oh that guys almost dead or they have a tank, but there's no callout locations or they say get that guy and you don't know which guy because he ran out by himself somewhere and expects us to be right behind him at all times. And then they cuss constantly and say someone is cheating or complain that the team is so bad when he's the one dying. Mics only work if you're with friends or teammates you practice regularly with and have ways to actually communicate information quick and efficiently. Cussing and complaining everyone else is bad is not coordination. Yelling random phrases from TV shows or memes you thought were funny isn't gonna make me laugh if I haven't seen the meme or show and don't understand the reference. That's just being loud and distracting.

Me. That's one of the reasons I love Halo 3. People leave weapons laying around because they're too good for them, but that's just more variety for me. I like dual spikers, and plasma rifle/SMG combos. And they're always available lying around. In games without dual-wielding or ones that have a more 'balanced'(boring) sandbox, everyone grabs everything so you're stuck more often with your starter guns and have to wait for scraps. Even vehicles get ignored because people run out with only their BRs and fight over the sniper rifle because they're too good for vehicles despite playing BTB lol.

It doesn't need to be as strong as CE's because the entire sandbox has gotten weaker, but it should at least be a worthy option. You never use the single-shots in any other game because the charge shot is so much more reliable.
The plasma rifle is somewhat outclassed, but mostly in singleplayer. In multiplayer, the plasma pistol is both rare and overheats before you can kill another player at its max fire rate. It's also not as good against OS people because the charge shot has unreliable tracking and the regular shot has no shield multiplayer. The PP's tap shots doing equal damage is something that could have given the gun something unique and possibly made using that fire mode worthwhile.

You're not thinking broad enough.
Every gun in CE has something unique and interesting about it that makes it worth using in multiplayer.
With the exception of the Needler, but even then that has a very obvious purpose - its tracking projectiles make it appealing for people who have never played a shooter before.

I'm just giving what is likely to be Bungie's reasoning. Multiplayer balance obviously wasn't their forte, as demonstrated by literally every game they've made after CE. They just make something that would be cool in singleplayer, and let people use them against each other later on.
Everything in CE is unique, but CE has like 9 total weapons. It's much harder to fit everything into a role when there's over twice as many guns in later games, while needing to keep in mind how many combinations of those weapons can exist via dual wielding.

Mics help. Teammates that communicate help. If anything it's a bigger deal in BTB than it is in other games at times when an enemy has a tank or bamshee.

Yes, but I think not every weapon needs to be balanced perfectly. It's okay to have some slightly worse weapons if it makes the game more fun. Take the Brute Shot (H3) for example. In BTB it's completely outclassed by Rockets, not that useful against vehicles (aside from knocking warthogs over), and really only good if you get the drop on someone. It's not even worth picking up in most Big Team situations but it's fun to shoot. Same with the Spikers. Up close they're alright when dual-wielded but they're easily outclassed by an SMG with a Plasma Rifle. That's fine too. Sure these weapons could use a couple buffs, but I don't think speeding up the kill-times or outright removing these guns would make the game more fun. Rather I would simply add more variety to them to make them more unique, like adding a knockback effect (like how Ruby Rebalanced the spikers for his Halo 3 mod). Spikers are too similar to the plasma rifles, but that's something that could be fixed by changing some values. Maybe make them shoot slower and buff the damage to make it stand out more. Or more melee damage because of the blades.

I think CE's vehicles are the worst in the franchise. Big Team Battle is not very fun or satisfying to play because vehicles are so useless, and the weapon selection is so limited and repetitive. And vehicles can't blow up. There's no satisfaction from killing someone in a vehicle and having it blow up and eject hazardous physics bodies. They just drop to the ground. There's also the least variety of vehicles. Not everything needs to be perfectly balanced and accounted for in Halo. I like Halo 3's more zany approach to the sandbox. And I've noticed I only enjoy it more when adding more weapons from other games like Reach or even 4.

The DMR was such an oddly-designed weapon for its purpose in the sandbox. It's meant to be a very long-range weapon, going by its base accuracy and scope magnification, but its defining mechanic just lets it operate better up close.

With the BR in play, everything is a bit more even. The BR is used more, yeah, but you always have a fighting chance against other players.

Most of Halo 3's guns aren't that bad. It's pretty much just the AR, magnum, spiker, and needler that are to be avoided. The AR still has its deathcharge that can beat out a BR, and Reach fixed the magnum by just letting it fire a bit faster.
The Needler probably deserves to be shit, because a gun that is built around tracking projectiles is only going to be frustrating if it's good(see: H4)

Which makes them NOT useful in every situation. You remove the utility. Take the Halo 3 Battle Rifle and nerf the fire rate. Suddenly it doesn't dominate the entire weapon sandbox because it's not overshadowing every single close-medium range weapon 90% of the time. That doesn't mean other weapons don't need a buff, like the Spiker. Or a nerf, like the Laser. Most people have no idea how to balance a game. They're incapable of seeing all of the tools, maps, and what makes Halo actually, fundamentally good (combat triangle), and hyperfocus on 2 or 3 weapons they like and think everything should be built around them.

Maybe make the tracking slightly stronger. Or make it like Halo 2's Needler. Part of 3's Needler problem is you can only get a few successful needles in before having to reload. But having a larger magazine size by dual-wileding could increase the success rate. You can also switch up firing style by tracking the first feew shots, then leading the next few, then shooting a few behind them in the opposite direction. You'd burn through more ammo this way hoping to mix him up so that's why the dual-wield would be more valuable. You could also adjust the mode between wielding styles. Maybe make single wield track harder, while dual-wielding could track worse but fires faster projectiles. There's a lot of different things you could try. But it would have to be balanced against the rest of the sandbox to really see where it should go.

Actually, looking at the TTK for Reach's needler, it probably wouldn't need any changes at all. While you could just noob combo someone, that takes 2 weapon slots and the needler will kill in just over a second.

Dual-wielding Needlers was my favorite thing about Halo 2...
I really liked trying to get the timing for the trigger pulls perfect so that each Needler alternated fire rather than shooting both at the same time (like most people do). So instead of
PEW-PEW-PEW-PEW, it became BRBRBRBRBRBRAT like a sub-machine gun. By having them shoot at the same time, you shoot two needles at once, but the fire rate is slow so there's a chance the enemy can slip between the needles. But when you perfectly time the trigger pulls so that they're just slightly staggered, then the fire rate is suddenly doubled and there's less room for dodging so it's like you're almost shooting a beam of needles which gets more hits in. It's extremely satisfying. God I love dual-wielding the Halo 2 Needler.

Just because you're good at one thing doesn't make you an expert at everything else. Of course you're more invested in precision weapons because it means the skill gap is wider meaning you get to own noobs all day for free and it makes you feel good to git gud with them. But not everyone has fun doing that. Precision weapons are boring. They're in every game. What do you do when you're on the losing team? Once my team loses the first vehicle exchange it seems like it's just getting spawn killed since there's no way to take out tanks unless you have a tank. With 3 you can at least fight back with the plasma pistol and EMP equipment, but there's nothing to really fight back with in Halo 2 without your vehicles. Guns barely do any damage to vehicles.

If I manage to survive the spawn kill attempt I try to hide out in the base. Sometimes a cocky player might come in and I'm there waiting. But there's not much else I can do. The match is pretty much over, it's just a matter of how much we want to entertain the other team's tanks because now they've stolen ours and they all have the spawns memorized. Maybe someone gets lucky and manages to escape with a Banshee but then they just get shot out of the sky.

It's less about who's better and more about what's more fun for Halo. It's more fun to get EMP'ed by a lucky plasma pistol charge when you're in a Banshee and then get pelted by plasma grenades than it is to get killed by a BR on foot. One is simply more interesting than the other. Precision weapons are not very interesting or fun compared to the rest of the sandbox. They're too one-dimensional. I would bring back the grenade launcher and the plasma launcher. Now those are interesting and fun weapons that interact with the rest of the sandbox in fun and interesting ways. This is the direction Halo should be going in. Not the esports direction. I don't mind if they're separate, but for the past few games the esports mentality has been bleeding into the other modes making them less fun.

The problem with "Utility Weapons" is you can't actually remove them from a game, and any attempt to do so would make the game less fun.
There's an idea in game design philosophy called the "dominant strategy" which is the idea that a player will generally always gravitate towards whatever weapon or strategy works the best, and will use that strategy the most - regardless of the designer's intentions, so this has to be considered when designing a sandbox.

If, hypothetically, you removed the Magnum from the Halo CE sandbox, the Sniper would probably come to be considered the "utility weapon"/"dominant strategy". It has a 30 second respawn time on almost every map it's on, spawns in the team bases on several maps, and CE weapon spawn times are static (so it respawns EVERY 30 seconds, not every 30 seconds after the weapon is dropped or runs out of ammo). It's also useful at most ranges, including close range (in spite of its handling) because of its firepower.
I would guess, with no Magnum, every Halo CE game would become about the Sniper, which would push players out of close-range combat almost entirely.
If you take this a step further and remove the Sniper, then the dominant strategy weapon would become the Shotgun (also has a 30 second respawn time and is abundant on most maps).
Remove the Shotgun, and I'd guess the dominant strategy weapon would be the Plasma Pistol with its overcharge.

The CE magnum is the "dominant strategy" not because it's the best weapon (that's the Sniper), it's the dominant strategy because in most gametypes it's a starting weapon - more abundant than the Sniper and almost as good.
If, as a designer, you try to remove a dominant strategy, players will just find another dominant strategy: and that is what would eventually come to be labeled "the utility weapon".
I guess what I'm trying to say is a "utility weapon" will exist in an arena shooter, whether or not the designers intentionally design a weapon to be one.

Sniper = 2 shots to kill (no headshot through shields)
BR = require an extra two bursts to destroy shields
Magnum = remove the scope but keep the damage and reduce the fire rate
AR = increase the magazine size
SMG = slight damage buff
Shotgun = require two shots to kill or one shot + one melee
Rocket Launcher = Same

The rest of the weapons would be balanced around this base model. The idea is to encourage more close quarters combat between the infantry weapons. By increasing the TTK for ranged/precision weapons it gives close range weapons more time to close the gap. The shotgun is a very cheesy weapon so it's nerfed to discourage camping. This setup promotes more of the sandbox so even if the BR is still the most effective overall, it's not so much that it's the only weapon you use.

Spartan Laser = Requires a charge, then fires a beam burst similar to the Binary Rifle from Halo 5, effective against vehicles, but now you have to track the target for about a second and a half.
Remove the sniper rifle bonus damage against vehicles
Bring back the grenade launcher, plasma launcher, and incinerator
Remove smart scope

Close the gap in infantry combat, Let vehicles live longer, and balance the weapons so that you're not just hanging back and pinging enemies from afar.

I'm gonna be honest, that sounds boring for Halo.
Maybe it could work for a different game, but I'd be pretty disappointed if all the power weapons in a Halo game took 2 shots to kill and there were no headshots.
Feel free to disagree with me, but I think CE is, generally speaking, the best balanced. I don't see it as "broken" or needing to be "fixed".
Wish people would play it with AR starts more, but that's more an issue of people being impatient/not having a taste for needing to find better weapons on the map than the starting weapon.

Yea, Plasma Pistol starts is the map default for most maps in CE. So I guess it's sort of CE "as intended".
I guess I don't mind that idea, but I feel like the Plasma Pistol is marginally better than the AR with its overcharge and greater accuracy, and in my mind it's better to have everything on the map be an upgrade to the starting weapon.

Maybe in 4v4 but not BTB. No one uses any weapons in BTB except for the Magnum, Sniper, and Rockets. The other weapons might as well not exist.
Snipers have basically unlimited ammo and just camp at their bases. The maps are huge, so by the time you respawn and get another warthog or scorpion over, the sniper is already restocked and has killed both your tank and warthog by the time you get close. And now you have to trek across without a vehicle because all the vehicles are at the other base or in the middle of the map. Everyone else has to fight on foot with magnums. Only the snipers get to have fun in CE's BTB. The only time the shotgun is useful is inside the enemy team's base, so maybe you might get some variety there, but usually you just grab the flag and run out and hope your team's sniper back at your base took out their sniper. You basically have to hope you have a better sniper than their team otherwise you're not getting close to the base and you have to make sure there's no sniper alive when you leave. There's always just a bunch of empty vehicles in the middle of the map from both teams trying to approach each other's base.

Btw, I'm speaking from Blood Gulch and Timberland, because those seem to be the only maps I get. The two times I've gotten Sidewinder in the past 6 months the other team was basically nonexistant and my warthog driver was doing insane shortcut trick jump speedrun strats and we got their flag 3 times in like 2 minutes. I didn't have to do anything on the turret and we just won so fast, it was like being teamed up with Mint Blitz but if he was a taxi driver.

Man, the more I learn about Halo 2 the more I wish we could have gotten Bungie's full original vision for it.
In pic-related, the first one that shows up fighting the Brute was a Spartan III in SPI armor. The one I'm fighting is a Spartan IV.

Good thing I was playing on Easy lol. Here's the Spartan III up close. I think it killed the Brute from earlier. Fighting these guys on Heroic or Legendary would be scary. Earlier I was fighting one but I didn't record it, and he was strafing like a human player and was really aggressive with the melee attacks. They can even use equipment, and switch weapons. One of them pulled out an energy sword when I closed the distance. I was like, oh shiiiiiiit. Hadn't seen that before, I wonder if that was added in the update.

The update also added the Sidekick. The Library section is still wonky, having to shoot out the flood doors. Those parts still feel unpolished.

Actually, now that I think about it, the Spartan IIIs in this mod use human marine animations. That might be why they're a little slower/shorter than the Spartan IIs and IVs, and I think this also extends to the Flood versions. That might have been an Infected Spartan II doing that crazy strafing. wish I recorded it. When he pulled out the sword I almost freaked out, wish I was recording.

Introduce loadouts:
1. You can buy equipment in shop and spawn with it on any map, so a map with no grapple hook has now 1 paypig with a grapple hook, or he starts with overshield, or camo
2. Vehicles now have bonuses like Battlefield (you can only get them via real life money) which grant hp regen or defense against EMP
3. You can pay real money to choose which weapon you want to get from the weapon stand, so for example you can set in your settings that commando weapon stands will give you a BR instead

What the fuck is going on with this guy's mod?

His rebalanced mod for Halo 1 was pretty cool, vanilla+ adding things like Wildlife and drivable wraiths. It also only took 8 months of development.

Meanwhile this mod he's been working on for 2+ years and has just got to Regret. Spent like 6 months just on Delta Halo

He's fallen into the trap that so many other modders have, and wants to make his mod MORE and BIGGER. So he's tacking on a bunch of random gimmick mechanics, making a ton of new weapons from scratch, and literally remaking parts of the map geometry.
He just keeps the "rebalance" name as his branding, even though it's a full partial conversion at this rate.

It's particularly bad in that webm because they got lazy with the Brute Shot and just gave it the rocket's projectile and effects, probably because they never intended for 8 players to have one with infinite ammo.

All 343 does is hire contractors anyway. They aren't developers. Why doesn't Microsoft just eliminate the Halo Studios middle man that requires full time pay and benefits? Just hire a dev team directly.

They moved to Unreal Engine specifically so they can hire even more random lowest bidders who are apathetic about Halo. Halo content will go up, but the soul is going to be completely extinguished by design. We're at the point where Halo needs to die for its own sake. We can only hope it does die.

Halo Studios serves no purpose. They hire random contractors sporadically from all over the world. If M$ axed Halo Studios contracted a lone studio to make a halo game they would save money and they would release a better game. Like for example if they just hired Hoberman's studio and gave them a budget to make whatever Halo game they wanted. Like what they almost did last year (?) but without the doomed battle royale chained to halo infinite years after the playerbase died.

Halo 2 needs a hell of a lot of work to fix the campaign, while CE's campaign was already nearly perfect. There's a reason why people were so disappointed/confused with 2 on release. It introduced a lot of cool ideas but the devs didn't have time to flesh them out or properly balance the difficulty or give it the Bungie polish it deserved, plus so many things were cut that it's a skeleton of what it should have been. Even the art style is missing. The modder also completely reworked the health system, and now he has to rebalance everything according to that new system, practically remaking the game almost from scratch because every single encounter needs to be reworked to accommodate it. And there's no way he's gonna get it right on the first round. Compared to simply just tightening up the already in-place system with CE, CE's mod was a just a rebalance. 2's mod is practically a remake. And he's gonna be testing, redoing, and retesting a lot more too, so expect the QA process to eat up even more time. The game is going to feel very different compared to the vanilla version. He's never been this ambitious with any of his mods, and I'd rather he take his time with it instead of rushing it out like how Bungie was forced to rush it out.
