I like using Modern Controls cuz I like trying out all the characters/playing random select and its far more easier for me to jump in and base my play around everyone's simple inputs and auto combos instead of spending hour or more sitting in the pause screen reading the input list and then hunting down youtube vids for a char's bnb punish, di splat punish, side swap combo, and meter dump (then immediately forgetting all that stuff the moment I go into rank because I'm bad & need a day or so of constant drilling for everything to stick in my muscle memory).

Am I great at the game, no? I touched 1600mr a few times but i'm really a 1400-1500mr casual master player but i'm contempt with my experience. I'm not a tourny guy and or trying to win evo, I'm just looking to have fun playing the cast and Modern enables that goal for me better than Classic so why shouldn't I use it???

Just because SF6 has easier execution in general doesn't necessarily mean picking up a character can be done in a couple mins, atleast for the non punks of the world.

Take NRS games like MK for example. Super easy execution, as in no motions for specials, no links/timing heavy routes, and has simple input supers yet because of the heavy string nature of the game you can't just pick up and play a char in MK because you have to do so much menu "sifting through" and then drilling all the different target combos into your muscle memory so you don't drop/forget shit during a match along with memorizing special commands which don't follow any sort of rhyme or reason like specials in SF games, as in sub zero ice ball input changes per game. Point is a FG can have easy execution yet still require massive muscle memory training to just get going.

Anyway, LP LP LP xx MK Spiral Arrow, dash leaves you +8 and c.HP is 10 frames so its not super meaty, it will be +1 and leaves her out of throw range.
Also even if she was in throw range a 4 frame beats a throw in that scenario.
Also her cr.LK is 5 frames and would trade with a 4 frame and be minus on the trade.
After a MK Spiral Arrow she can dash and a meaty st.MP will be +2, but also leave her outside of throw range.
So either way you cut it theres no real mix here, even if you recover in place after either meaty she cannot reach you with a throw, so you just block her next move which will be minus.

Is a +1 button that leaves you out of throw range worse than a jab? (on block anyway, obviously a lot of + moves are very good on hit)
All you can do for a frametrap after a +1 is a jab, if you arent in throw range then thats not a threat.
If you do a blocked jab, obviously yes it is minus but you can still threaten a frametrap with rapid cancel jab, AND you are in throw range, isnt that a better scenario for the attacker?

It makes sense to me as a scrub. I have to work super hard to do the most basic bitch stuff in a fighting game. Modern players just do it. I have trouble anti-airing, remembering my combos and inputs, what is and isn't plus, and how to pressure properly. Moderns can just turn their brains off and react to the fact that I am a dumb gorilla monkey who has no idea what he is doing. I could learn to counter them but I could never learn their reaction speed.

In order to get good at the game, the first cope you need to get rid of is realizing that you dont have the moral duty to balance the game, thats the developers job. If they give you an overpowered tool, take it. Thats how Tokido made it to the top.

When Modern first came out, Tokido was the first to try it with Luke. He later dropped it. It means the trades arent even useful for someone at his level.

Poke with whip, fireball and normals.
Walk behind a fireball, or fireball DR or just raw DR. If plus you just do the six mix, strike, throw or shimmy.
If you hit the DR, the strike or the shimmy do your combo and safe jump.
Obviously dont overuse the fireball in range of moves that can punish it on reaction. (Spin Knuckle, Hazanshu etc.)

According to supercombo she can only go through projectiles if she uses OD AND a stock, so without the stock you can still fireball?

I think most of that time is spent testing her to make sure absolutely nothing fun can happen in an interaction between her and every other character. They need to hardcode her dp to only work in front with no trading possible, make her fan interact the same with every other fireballs and armor move, etc. Its a lot of work because capcom goes above and beyond.

4 characters wouldn't be the worst if they like, actually patched the game, or there was stuff to experiment with and develop because the game isn't completely overdefined with every interaction dictated explicitly, or there was an actual tournament scene to follow instead of a one month rush of world warriors and CPT events that nobody can keep track of followed by months of nothing, or if the game was FUCKING FUN.

There are two camps of complaints with street fighter 5.

There's the first camp that complains about how they simplified so much from SF4 and added way more kookily neutral skips that were experimental mickey shit from omega mode. They also don't like V triggers carrying bad players or locking moves.

Then there's the other camp who hates how punishing and unforgiving it is because it was still street fighter for 60% of the match until a v trigger activated. These people were either new or permagolds that can't deal with fireballs or frametraps, so they hated SF5 because it was "boring" (they couldn't do what they wanted because they were forced to block).

SF6 took the mickiness of SF5 and turned it up to 11, while removing footsies, fireball zoning, poking, and frame traps. Antiairing is still in the game (for now) but they made sure to remove any oki afterwards. So people in the second camp had all their complaints fixed.
