They're not entirely wrong in that case. They weren't making anything from scratch, and already had all of the assets and scripts available to them. It was just a matter of putting it all together in a way that it would run on MCC. Stuff like the Halo 3 maps would have been a different story because there was so little to work with as a starting point.

when it comes to monetization, I feel like the entire thing for me as a customer is to feel like and know I’m getting a fair deal.
With Halo 1 this was really easy: paid the cost once, got the disc, popped it in my Xbox, and played it. Got hours of fun.
With Halo 2 you paid for the disc, and you paid for Xbox Live.
It wasn’t exactly clear what I was getting with an Xbox Live subscription, when online multiplayer was available for free with PC games. I was young at the time. I guess you were getting dedicated servers and the Xbox Live ecosystem, which is not a worthless bargain.
You also got a game with all the offline features of Halo CE in Halo 2.
This stayed true through Halo 4, for the most part.
Although, from a customer’s perspective, every Halo game since the first had had more features and had increased in quality up through Reach: with Reach still being one of the most impressive and best values in terms of everything you could get out of it. Out of the box it had the most robust custom games, firefight, forge, good campaign, the best player customization to date, and it was all accessible without xbox live.
Halo 4 sort of had all this, except the quality was lower, and instead of Firefight you had Spartan Ops which if I remember correctly could only be accessed with live.
So it was the first Halo game to have less features out of the box than its immediate predecessor.
Halo 5 was the first Halo game to have less features than Halo CE: with no splitscreen and no offline multiplayer.
Just from a basic analysis as a customer, you’re getting less fun for your money, for the same cost as the first game.
Halo: Infinite monetization was/is a mess. I’m not going to bother trying to untangle my feelings on that in my post.

But I feel like they could sell a subscription service again, if they make it really clear that what you get out of it is the best online multiplayer experience: pay a small monthly fee to help run the servers.

I guess these posts are about what seems fair to me as a customer, and this is what it looks like:
- Halo should have a fully free to play component, officially supported by Microsoft: this is primarily your way to introduce new people to Halo. Like the Halo PC demo - a few multiplayer maps, maybe a Firefight map: something people can play for hours and see how good the gameplay is.
- Halo: Infinite’s current Free to Play multiplayer frankly doesn’t seem sustainable for Microsoft, hence all the shakeups and restructuring/downsizing, and the rebranding to Halo Studios and cost cutting measures like switching to Unreal. Having some kind of “multiplayer pack” where you pay 30$ to 40$ and get access to 15-20 maps, then having successive map packs with 3-5 maps sold for about 10$ each could be reasonable to me. This paid multiplayer component should have offline split-screen play, and it should also be able to be played online free-to-play
- A subscription service could be offered, 60$ yearly price, for the best possible networking experience + cosmetics, battle passes, and other crap like that
- As much as I hate them, Microtransactions do bring in money, which motivates Microsoft to keep the game alive, and these could be made available in every version, as long as they’re done with some class
- The single player component could be sold separately as an expansion, like was done with Infinite.
It should be possible to pay 60$ and get about the same feature value that you get with Halo CE - a singleplayer component, and split-screen offline multiplayer.

This would all seem fair and acceptable monetization to me for future Halo games. Although the Halo brand has been run so hard into the ground I think Microsoft would be wise to try this with a new series.

That's kinda the game.
If you look at it from Microsoft's perspective it's "How do we convince people to give us money". Just by their nature, they're going to want to try to do this with as little effort as possible. The customer, if they're of average or above average intelligence, is going to be alert to whether or not what they're spending money on is worth it: and there is the eternal battle between customer and business.
I guess one way, that seems fair to me, is to have a Halo free-to-play multiplayer component, but have that F2P multiplayer be networked peer to peer, while the subscription service gets you access to more player customization and dedicated servers.

Servers, although they may be cheap to run, do cost money - so when you pay for the subscription service, that's what you're really paying for.
Customization, battle passes, etc: that's the mostly valueless aesthetic garnish that will trick unwitting children into convincing their parents to pay for the subscription.
Pricing the subscription service at a price point that is sufficiently profitable, not greedy, but profitable enough to be a worthwhile investment for Microsoft - that's the trick that will keep Microsoft wanting to do it.

It seems dirty, but that's how it is.

tl;dr
Yearly Xbox Live subscription was maybe better than Infinite's Free to Play route. Maybe they've paid their dues for fucking up Halo by trying the fully free to play multiplayer, and could go back to charging a little more for a fuller experience, if it meant the product would be better.
On top of this: if charging a little more for Halo would mean Microsoft could pay a team like the Digsite volunteers minimum wage, that'd be better than what we currently have going on.

No, you weren't. Halo didn't start using dedicated servers until Halo 5 (in 2015). Halo 2 was P2P

I have created a script to check if a player with a plasma rifle is aiming at another player.
This has some limitations.
It only extends to a limited range of several meters in front of a player, and the detection area is connected not directly to the orientation of the player camera, but to the player biped's hips.
What this means is that if your camera is aimed directly at a player, but your player model's hips are aimed 90 degrees away, your opponent won't be detected by the system I've created.
When moving, the player's hips are locked to the orientation of the player's camera, so this edge case will mostly show up when the player is standing still.

I am going to use this system as part of a larger system to check when to apply a hit-stun effect to players shot with plasma weapons.
Next thing to figure out is how to check if a player being aimed at with a plasma rifle is being damaged, and how to go about applying the hit-stun effect.
I was hoping to create a really gradual cumulative effect, where for every tick of damage, the player's speed would be incrimentally decreased by a small amount, but this seems difficult or impossible to accomplish with scripting.
It seems like my best option might be to check if, say, a player's shields are less than 50%, then apply a movement speed reduction trait, then, if the player's health is less than 50%, apply an even greater reduction.
A system like this will also create inconsistencies that will be felt more often than incrimentally decreasing the player's speed, but it would also, in most cases, feel like functional plasma weapon hit-stun.

I’m making a lot of headway on this Plasma weapon hit stun script. A version of it is almost ready for testing.
But I’ve got a question and I want to poll people for opinion here:
Which sounds better
- The player nearest to you will always have the hitstun effect applied to them when you shoot them with 100% consistency: however if a player is close to you and you are aiming at a more distant player, the hitstun effect will not apply to the more distant player
- Hitstun will apply to the player you’re specifically aiming at, but only about 50-80% of the time

Both of these are possible with scripting. Currently I’m leaning to the second option because it places control in the hands of the player, rather than being context sensitive, even if it’s going to be less consistent.

Tons of new changes
- found a solution for Zero-G sections. You can now use the space vacuum section of Anchor 9. Rocket Launcher has been moved to its original location in the vacuum zone.
- Plasma Weapons have a makeshift hit-stun effect.
- All weapons and items in all 7 maps in the rotation have been edited to have Halo 1 style respawn times
- The Active Camo powerup has quick camo for the AR, Shotgun, Plasma Rifle, and Plasma Pistol, just like in CE
- Picking up the Overshield powerup will give you 2 seconds of complete invulnerability just like CE
- The weapons have been rebalanced: including increased damage and range to the Shotgun, increased damage to rockets and AR, decreased damage to the Needler and Plasma Pistol
- a Momentum based Melee damage multiplier like in Halo CE
- the Active Camo and Overshield powerups use the Active Camo and Armor Lock armor ability items, to turn the powerups into physics items, which can be bounced around

Weren't Halo 3 elites and Halo 2 (in multiplayer) hunched over to compensate hitboxes? I still remember the heated debates back then about elite hitboxes being too big so thus it's a disadvantage but others argued they were an advantage since you can shoot through the elite's neck and throw off the enemy player.

Hate me all you want. Minus the horrible Campaign, Halo 5 was and is better than Infinite and the fact people got basically Stockholm syndrome'd into just accepting Infinites bullshit is wild. Infinite released broken and missing things. Still has sprint, AdS, DLC and other things that would have gotten some hate or at least annoyance.
Infinite is hardly more classic or back to roots, infact it's probably just as Nu343 shit as Halo 5. It's only real advantages are an overall better campaign and forge NPCs.

Maybe with friends. But even then, that depends on the friends. In Halo 2 I would jump into a random's match and follow the rules, and everyone else would follow the rules too, despite talking a lot of trash on their mics and bullshitting around. Only if that's dual-wieldable. Single-wield Halo only is not Halo. Yes, even Bungie removed Halo from Halo. In CE it wasn't Halo, but after it was added in 2, it permanently became Halo. So removing it from a Halo game henceforth makes that game less Halo. Simple as. And unlike sprint, it is actually good for Halo.

Now that the Halo 1 Slayer Mod is approaching a near feature-complete state, having restored as many Halo 1 game mechanics as I can think of, I've got two questions

1. In what ways can Halo CE's gameplay be improved?
2. In what ways can Halo Reach's gameplay and sandbox be improved?

The first question should be easy for people to answer because we've had what ... 7 Halo games since CE that all play differently? Surely people have ideas about how Halo CE could be improved (even if you're probably wrong)
Second question is a little harder. I'd argue Reach is already improved getting it closer to Halo CE.

I hope Halo Studios' Reboot Cortana has the same feel as the original trilogy Cortana. Some sass but mostly down to business and mature. I hope we don't get a naive, young, dorky version like the Weapon from Infinite or an overly emotional/crazy one from 4 and 5. Just drop the whole rampancy thing, we don't need it especially for her and it didn't make the story any more fun, just worse and annoying. 1) More weapons, nerfed Sniper and Magnum (They kill vehicles too quick) and destructable vehicles. Base gameplay doesn't really need to be modified. I don't like healthpacks and non-recharging health, but not enough to start messing with the core mechanics so in my case I would leave it alone.

2) I would change so much that it would no longer be Reach anymore, so I'll leave it alone as well because a lot of people like it for what it is already. But for starters, I'd remove sprint, armor abilities, increase jump height and base movement speed, etc. but honestly that's already making it more like 3 at that point. I'd also nerf the DMR and not make it a starting weapon even in BTB. I'd also slightly buff the projectile speed of the Plasma Launcher and buff the damage of the plasma repeater and plasma rifles.

My gametype removes armor abilities, alters the movement physics, uses the Magnum as the utility weapon (no DMR), gives a slight damage buff to the Plasma Rifle, and also creates a pretty good approximation of the hit-stun effect for the plasma weapons.
Are there any *other* changes you'd like to see to Reach's gameplay?

I think it's more that I'd like to see more weapons being used in CE. It may not necessarily need new weapons but I wouldn't say no to new one either. I usually play BTB, so for the most part I only see snipers, magnums, and rockets. No one uses the needler, plasma rifle, plasma pistol, etc., it's always magnum and sniper fights. You try to drive into a fight with a vehicle and you just get sniped out of the driver seat or turret. There's no reason for snipers to ever leave their base when they can just have a fun and easy turkey shoot. And the fights you do get into are only magnums or rockets. There's just very little variety.

I have very particular tastes when it comes to Halo though, so don't let my feedback mess with your mod. 3 basically has everything I need, so I don't want to change up someone else's Halo if they're already enjoying it.

I'd go with physics is the main thing that would drastically improve the gameplay. Yes Chucky physics is silly with how everything is just a few spheres roughly in the shape of the object, and the collision damage set to 1000 is occasionally funny. But Bungie swapping to havok for H2 onwards was an improvement of how things interacted in the game world.
Otherthings are more subjective, like I personally would like vehicle boarding solely because its cool.

Don't worry, I'm taking notes on peoples answers.
I'm going to look for patterns, aggregate opinions, interesting ideas, and weigh everything carefully
I'm pretty happy with the current balance of the mod, and I don't know how much I'd even be able to change as I've maxed out the 16 available player traits and forge labels, but there's still a lot of fun I might be able to squeeze in, once I've gotten the gameplay feeling the way I like.
I'm still really interested in the idea of weapon-specific armor abilities, like, say, giving the player a single use Hologram ability when they pick up Shotgun. I gave the Needler a massive damage nerf to adjust it to feel like the CE needler, but maybe it could be the only weapon which gives the player sprint.
That might be one way to encourage people to use the lesser used weapons. It's one of the ideas I'm considering.

Came up with a script to give a player a jetpack if they are in a Zero-G zone (like on Zealot, Anchor 9, or Condemned).
Since Halo CE had no Zero-G zones, I feel comfortable adding this. It's a pretty cool, practical feature.

Yeah, some of the concept art does look quite pretty. It's a shame because I was looking forward to a new halo type of world with big sprawling landscapes and stuff, and...we barely got any of that. Just hints of it like with the Requiem mission at the start or the Mammoth mission. Halo 4 for the most part is a very cramped, almost claustrophobic game. Most of the skybox isn't real, just hollywood-style card board cutouts and jpegs. You don't really get the feeling of being in a vast, living world like you do in previous Halos (Well, except Halo 2. Halo 2 did a bad job of this, and I think even 4 had better skyboxes overall), but because tech was improving a lot I was hoping we'd get more open worlds like CE but with modern day graphics. The only proper skyboxes were the Assault Pelican mission and Requiem. The outdoor section of Requiem should have been way bigger, not just a space you drove through.

If you haven't tried it yet, then maybe. It's free and at this point it's probably the best time to try it with all the features they've finally dripfed into it. Keep in mind that it's horribly sweaty, aiming feels sloppy, and it's like there's some kind of slight input lag all the time and it can stutter at times. Shooting does not feel good in this game.

But there is a nice chunk of variety because you can pick what you want to play for matchmaking and there's tons of different modes along with all the customs. You can play against bot pvp too or firefight pve. At one point there were even pvpve customs going on which were pretty cool, I wish there was a proper mode for this. The campaign is not bad either. Big Team Heavies on one of the player-made maps is a good time (for a 343 game), it's also the only Halo game with matchmaking where you can have 4 banshees and 4 wraiths on one map and there's no Spartan Laser around to completely delete all the vehicles in the first 30 seconds.

Why was nobody ever able to get the brute design right?
In terms of gameplay, I think Reach did the brutes best. They were distinct from fighting the elites, and still had that brute rage without being as crazy as it was in Halo 2.
In terms of design, maybe Halo 3 was best? But they're basically elites in that game so I'm kind of biased against the design.

IMO 2 has the best and most distinct design compared to the other races, but gameplay is where things get tricky, especially for 3.

I've been fucking around in the editing kit for 3, and I've found that making them do more melee damage + disabling the pinging on the higher ranking ones ('pings' occur when a character takes a specific amount of damage and play an animation, example: elites reeling back when their shields pop) helps, but it still needs more work.

I thought it was good all the way up The Tower bossfight with Chad'Lok, gameplay/presentation-wise. After that it fell off. Kind of repetitive in terms of variety. But I enjoyed combat all the way to the end of the game, and that's why I play Halo campaigns over and over like Halo 3 or ODST. The story isn't anything to write home about and I don't like The Weapon or the Pilot, but Chief was Chief (and not Arbiter or Locke or anyone else not the Chief), and the shitty open world segments are entirely optional, so I don't think it affects the campaign misisons, you can just head straight to the next misison without wasting time. All the indoor sections/map were good in terms of gameplay. The open world and the bad dialogue and annoying side characters is what brought it down.

I think we'll get an official announcement of the 3 Remake at the Xbox Games Showcase alongside (hopefully) more Infinite updates seeing as active development on it seems to have ramped up a bit

Well, I've accomplished a few more goals for the modded gametype.

Found a way to add a trait to players in vehicles, bringing their damage resistance while in vehicles down to 10%.
This causes vehicles to function like they do in CE, where damage is dealt directly to the player with apparently no bonus to damage resistance given by the vehicle: ie: if you shoot at a player in a vehicle they will be dealt damage exactly as if they were being dealt damage outside of a vehicle. This should totally rebalance vehicle gameplay, and make it much more possible for a player outside a vehicle to go toe-to-toe with a vehicle pilot.

Found a way to make vehicles invulnerable to damage at the same time: meaning while the player will be damaged while piloting a vehicle, the vehicle itself will bounce around unharmed, just like in Halo CE.

Created script to restore a hit-stun effect to the Ghost's plasma cannons.

Finally, created a script that will allow me to use maps which have gravity lifts, by creating shapes in forge where the player movement physics are set to default.

I think my next "white whale" is to create scripting which will let players bounce physics objects with explosives, to an exaggerated degree like in Halo CE.
I've managed to get objects to fly into the air when hit with an explosive, but I can't get them to come back down.

The gametype is playable on 7 maps that I've specifically edited to be compatible with the gametype.
I'd like to add more.

In my gametype, I mess with the base player traits to get player movement to feel like Halo CE. I currently have it set to 90% movement speed, 90% jump height, and 75% gravity (with 75% gravity, a 90% jump height is actually higher than the default jump height. You also get a slight speed boost at 75% player gravity, so setting speed to 90% evens it out to feeling like the normal 100% player speed. 75% gravity makes the movement, particularly jumping, feel more floaty like in Halo CE).
Halo CE also has a setting, which is on by default in the Xbox version of slayer, to slightly reduce the speed of a player every time they get a kill. This makes it gradually harder and harder to strafe the more kills you get in a single life.
I didn't replicate this exactly, but players in first and second place take a hit to their speed, which further alters the movement mechanics for individual players.

If you don't know, one of the things you can do with scripting is to change the traits applied to a player when they enter a "shape". Shapes are used in gametypes like King of the Hill or Invasion to determine the shape/size of the objective. With scripting, shapes can be made visible or invisible, and they can effect gameplay either way.
So I can create a rectangular shape that follows the arc of a gravity lift, and while the player is inside the gravity lift, their movement physics revert to Reach's default settings, where instead, if they hit the gravity lift with 75% gravity, they'll go flying.

Halo 4 was a pretty good looking game

Ever since 5 I felt that people exaggerate the war part of bungie games as a reaction of 343 focusing on the characters. It feels more like a backdrop in most halo games than a core theme. Even in peak bungie era the war theme was mostly swept aside for other stuff. 1 is basically Aliens. 2 is a Hollywood blockbuster during chiefs parts and more character driven during arbiters. 3 tries to focus on the war during the earth parts but the feels kinda distant when you arrive at the ark. ODST is a noir inspired defective story with Dante’s inferno elements. Reach is probably the only one that really takes a proper look at the WAR part and even then in the Reach Vidoc Marty even says that it’s a “character driven story”.

You can't even call the story in the 343i Halo games stories. They're not stories. In Halo 4 there's no arc: Chief wakes up, discovers the Didact, Cortana seethes about being 8 years old, Chief gets teleported to a multiplayer map so the Librarian can remind him that Halo is a multimedia franchise - please buy the books - oh and also terminally retarded retcons, the Didact turns some people into skeletons with a laser, Chief sticks a grenade in the Didact's cleavage, and Cortana ... wait what even happens to Cortana at the end of Halo 4?
Anyway there's no rising and falling action, it's just a series of nonsensical plot twists and lore dumps until it's over.

Halo 2 tells two simple stories, in a slightly more complex way. It's also missing its final act.
Halo 3 is Halo 2's final act, rewritten to more strongly call back to the first game and bring things full circle. The story is maybe a bit more poorly told than 1 and 2, an entire crucial plot element - Cortana and Gravemind fusing into a single biomechanical entity, and Cortana hijacking the Gravemind's psychic abilities to reach out to Chief and guide him to the Ark - is left implicit for the audience to figure out, which filters normalfags. But Halo 3's sticks the landing. It's very clear what happens in the ending.

Halo 4 and 5 tell complex low quality stories poorly.
Infinite simply has a bad story.

The Cambridge dictionary defines a "Story" as "a description, either true or imagined, of a connected series of events".
The are a lot of events in Halo 4, but they aren't connected. There is no plot or story arc, it just a series of disconnected scenes.
If I asked you to tell me "how do the events of Halo 4 relate to each other to form a plot" you wouldn't be able to tell me.
At most you could say Chief is introduced to the Didact and eventually kills him, that's sort of a plot, but most of the game is literally Chief getting teleported to different locations and meeting random people who aren't really relevant to him, or even to the Covenant remnants and Prometheans you spend most of the game fighting.

Hard to think of the worst. CE's don't really do anything and you can just kill the driver in almost every case.
3's suck to fight against because regular infantry weapons are useless against them. But at the same time, there's stuff like the laser that causes terrible snowballs when one team controls it.
Reach's suck because they're very weak but are also extremely lethal. The Banshee in that game is one of the most broken things Bungie has ever designed.

I mentioned this a while ago, but a system I'd like to see in a game pulling from CE is that vehicles are indestructible when hit by small arms fire, but if they get blown up by a grenade or rocket they actually explode. It gives some choice between the immediate guaranteed double kill vs a Warthog or being able to use the vehicle yourself afterward. And not being able to damage them if they're unoccupied because base raping is gay. Make the splatter damage normalized too so a simple tap doesn't annihilate a teammate trying to get in.

A couple notes
- I noticed when someone grabs the Active Camo powerup, it deletes everyone's armor abilities. By default in this gametype, everyone has Jetpack, although armor ability use is disabled (except for Jetpack in Zero-G zones, specifically). The system I have in place to handle Active Camo as a powerup: when you touch the Active Camo armor ability it deletes your Jetpack ability and allows you to pick up the Active Camo ability, which stays equipped for 45 seconds, then deletes itself and adds Jetpack back to the player. Using Active Camo as an armor ability is disabled, but an Active Camo trait is applied while you have the camo armor ability (and you get specific traits depending on which weapon you're holding: recreating quick-camo from Halo CE). It's supposed to only delete your own armor ability, but it seems like it's deleting everyone's abilities, which is a significant bug. Having an Armor Ability is also necessary for my Plasma Rifle hitstun system. This should be fixable, but will need testing.
- Similarly, when one player is in a Zero-G zone, everyone's armor abilities are enabled. Jetpack is only supposed to be enabled for any player who is in a Zero-G zone and has Jetpack equipped (ie. armor ability use won't be enabled in the case where you enter a Zero-G zone with the active camo armor ability, standing-in for the active camo powerup). This should also be a simple fix, but will need testing to make sure I get it right.
- Rockets feel like garbage to use. Rockets have a damage buff of 300% and they still feel like shit. I have tweaks to player damage resistance and health, but I may need to switch back to defaults: because my weapon rebalance feels pretty good for every weapon except Rockets.
- Very minor issue, but Jetpacks are actually supposed to be 50% size, which makes them less noticeable on the player model. I believe I have a solution in mind for this.

Make it and any equivalent weapon uncommon like the Carbine in ODST. Bring back ammo pickups from CE so you have to use it sparingly if you want to carry it everywhere, like Sniper and Rocket ammo during Assault on the Control Room. And on top of that, nerf the fire rate a bit so it's not as good up close. Delete the DMR permanently because crossmapping with basic weapons is cancer unless it's weak like the ODST Automag. My way is the only way to make Halo good. Esports fags need to have their eyes put out.

Because halo wars 2 was the first halo since Reach that was a simple “fight war fight” type story. The characters are basically cardboard cutouts but the first 343 halo that had a story you didn’t need to do homework for. Pare that up with the focus on Jerome and gang and you get people screaming that it’s “Actually good”. That one cutscene where Jerome boards the ship and destroys it is probably the only thing the average Halo fan remember from wars 2. But i do have to give it props for giving the actual Alien characters some spotlight since 2. The banished warlords being basically a Transformers Decepticon esque band of cartoon villain goobers is the type of dumb fun most probably wanted from halo after the Cortana Created shitshow.

The BR wouldn't need a nerf in CE's sandbox because it wouldn't be able to do anything outside of campaign. And in campaign it would only have the niche purposes of being able to stun a Jackal and get the headshot with one trigger pull or killing 3 Grunts at once. It's way too slow to keep up with the rest of CE's weapons.

Running "Halo 1 Slayer Mod" in the MCC browser. Just 2 maps. Hoping to test some tweaks and fixes. There were a few braindead mistakes I'd made that seem to be the cause of the Active Camo and Zero-G zone bugs, which have been fixed, and I've altered the damage balance again. Ideally only grenades and Rockets should be effected: you should feel an increase in power for both.

In what way? It has worse accuracy, worse damage, a slower fire rate, and requires you to hit 3 bullets for every burst to deal full damage. It is quite literally a downgrade in every way. It wouldn't even be able to match the pistol if it had Halo 2's glitches.

This is the same TTK as the H2 BR, but the BR is more consistently accurate.
I'd guess if they were together in the same sandbox, and they both function exactly as they do in H1 and H2 respectively, the BR would be the preferred weapon for mid-range engagements.

It also would absolutely outclass the AR, which has terrible accuracy.

The AR has bad accuracy, but high damage output, a huge magazine, and plenty of time to make up the difference. It won't be cross-mapping a BR user, but it would certainly be winning engagements at a reasonable distance.

Perfect TTK for the pistol really only applies at close-ish ranges, like the tight spaces of Rat Race. Again, the BR would be massively preferrable at mid-to-long range, like on a map like Hang 'em High or Blood Gulch.
You severely overestimate the utility of the AR. The only distance it'd be winning any engagements over a BR user would be within shotgun range.

It's not just perfect kills. You can miss 2 or 3 pistol shots and still outpace a perfect BR. 4 shots is 1 second, 5 shots is 1.3. Needing more than 5 bullets is very uncommon.

The pistol's perfect kill is 3 shots at 0.6 seconds. There's a lot of leeway for the pistol user to win any fight against the BR. Even the BR user getting the first shot isn't a sure thing.

5 shots isn't a perfect kill for any weapon we're discussing. Even flawed pistol use outshoots the BR, and weapons like the AR are able to shred it up close. And the video example is just the AR. It would have a much harder time against any of the better guns you can pick up.

I read your posts. Your logic is flawed.
A pistol missing a shot makes its TTK 1 second(0.4s faster than a BR), 2 missed shots makes its TTK 1.3 seconds(0.1s faster than a BR). You need to waste half a mag before a BR user is able to get a kill.

You can get lucky with the H1 Magnum and get a kill in 0.6 seconds, but you're going to get a consistent 1.4 TTK with the BR, due to its higher aim magnetism.
The higher aim magnetism would make the BR a preferable weapon at all but close-range engagements.
There is no case where the AR is winning over the BR at anything other than shotgun range.

No, it's the same as the BR's perfect TTK. Or are you going to imply that everyone is always 4-shotting with the BR? Yeah, it's easier, but that's irrelevant when you're not shit at the game. The Venn diagram of people who are too bad to land 4-5 shots with the pistol and consistently 4-shot with the BR has a very narrow overlap.

Evidently I play CE a lot more than you do, and I'd take the H2 BR over the Magnum in a lot of cases. Basically any map with longer lines of sight than what you get on Rat Race.

Anyone half decent at CE isn't missing so many shots that the BR will suddenly give them the edge. And if you're already at the point where you're missing 3+ shots in a fight, you're too far gone for the BR to be of any real assistance.
