Was really enjoying Totems but decided to try the Warcry build out.
So far has been faster for pack clearing in maps, and the screen clarity is a world better.

it feels like even if you start slamming your exalts away since they get more worthless by the second, unless you actually hit 6 perfect mods everything you make is unsellable anyways. kinda crazy how hard it is to progress once the upgrades you want are just in the 5-10 divine range

What other nodes do I need to make this great? I've been using it with Ghostwrithe, and it feels good already but I can't really tell if ES recharge speed or life regen affects me with this.

Not to say that PoE 2 has strong crafting but the current consensus just reminds me of the narrative around PoE 1 crafting early on. People thought the crafting was extremely weak after they had introduced meta crafts, they considered it a waste of exalts. Then it was revealed that for MONTHS, there was a cabal of crafters who actually knew about the power of meta crafts and had been making all the GG mirror gear.

ES recharge speed only impacts your health now. You'd need flask bonuses to make the flask better. But it also means you can use mana flasks that dock hp as your HP is now protected under an ES that's impacted by your life flask.

I've only ever used it with a Chonk however.

Armour break is really good for the game, but its not implemented properly.

What should be happening is that armour break should do almost nothing to armour heavy chars, but make ES/Eva chars take 2-3x damage from melee hits so no matter how much ES/Eva they have their chars always get 1 shot by any phys slam if they can't get armour to offset it.

Therefore armour break should allow monsters to exponentially scale their damage output against non armour characters, while armour characters just take an extra 10% or so phys damage.

Similar to how pen works, armour break modifier on maps/mobs should make ES characters more scared than a pen and -max res map.

the monster standing in the doorway has a slam attack that does a lot of damage, i think it's the death knight you were hovering over at the very start. you can barely see the windup because everything's blurry and he's standing in a mob at the doorway

The Lucerne knights have a slam that does more damage than most boss attacks. He hit you with that, which made you explode. You couldn't see him however as he was hiding inside the doorway.

Alright, I uninstalled. That's saying something because I'm a hoarder and I never uninstall games. Water Hags in a Delirium map, just not fun. It's nearly impossible to tell if you're being drowned while Delirium is up.

GGG's visual and sound design haven't gotten better since I last played 6 years ago and they won't ever get better, so I'm going to quit. They still haven't learned that the way to make the game challenging is to make it hard to kill enemies, not make it easy for enemies to kill you. So I'm gone. I'm going to go back to Elin for now, definitely not going to play PoE ever again. It's a special kind of feeling coming back to a game after half a decade and nothing has changed, and all the community cares about is minor nitpicks here and there.

I meant in terms of danger, armour break on mobs should make maps near unplayable for ES chars.

Like a map with pen and -max res makes you take 3x damage from elemental damage, armour break should make 0 armour chars take 3x damage from all physical hits.

I don't think you were around for the PC launch of MHworld then. it had a launch bug where 75% of the CPU was being used for error correction, but nothing would even happen if it detected an error. on hardware of its time, it performed worse than the wilds beta did for hardware of its time.

The only way you fix bots are account binding endgame powerful "crafts"
Forcing greater value into lower tier currency markets that naturally get saturated by dadgamers and thus generally become uncontrollable while also killing bullshit like div -> ex market

Then you prevent re-selling to kill flippers and additionally staple a trade limit that regular people won't reach (20 a day) which kills everything but boxers.
Boxers are harder to punch in the dick without something drastic that also tosses strays like limiting trade of >2 groups to within the group for items dropped. Nobody gets happy with that.

Divines on the other hand give you a consistent increase in power because there are a lot of items with wide roll ranges. There will always be a demand for it because you can perfectly divine items and then corrupt them, which is a near endless sink.

Yes, if you’re going in blind like me. I’ve done Act 1 so many times now that I can beat it in three hours and mostly underleveled, I just do a few farm runs before the boss. Speed is earned.

Farming the Dreadnaught is really fun too, tons of mobs in a tight space just waiting to get slammed.

This is a well-designed game so you can’t “just” overlevel either; anything you do that’s productive puts you at constant risk, and power is gated by progress.

About 13 hours on this character so far

90mf. I do try to do breaches as much as I can, however I think just normal unique bosses give me as much if not more divines. for precursor, I do usually try to irradiate and breach my maps but it's not always the case. I think one big difference is that if a map is shitty like only 1 or 2 precursor effects or a really bad layout, I run it as a t1 white, with +85% movement speed and clear it in like 90 seconds (running a ton of t1 maps at light speed also means I reach citadels much more often). probably half of my maps end up like that where I run t1, but when I finally do come across good layout maps with like 4 precursor effects, I juice the hell out of the map and run some +400% waystones corrupt t16.

Yeah. I really don't need patches quickly, I do accept that the game is early access and has flaws. No matter how fucking shit this EA launch is, I'll be coming back for every league for the foreseeable future so I don't care how much of a dumpster fire things are at a given moment.

My problem is that I have no reason to be hopeful about the direction right now. I understand that it's a holiday season and the game had to be pushed out before Christmas obviously so the circumstances were inevitable but I think they really needed to just have some news sitting on the backburner to quickly hit send on through the season. Anything to make us think the game IS going to get good.

That's why the game is bad. If it was just numbers, it'd be no problem. Even reddit can help them fix numbers. Number of portals per map, armor numbers, damage numbers, whatever.

The actual issues are the visual design, sound design, and combat design. The whole thing is wrong, and a lot of the wrong bits are things that CAN'T be fixed by Neon in an afternoon. You can't totally change the visual design of the game, and you can't fix it so that small enemies aren't life-threatening but ARE challenging to fight. They'd have to rework the entire game.

Uncapped. 40% right now, I'm actually a bit overcapped on all my elemental resists because lolpermanentrunes. Budget can fix my defensive holes because my set overall is something like 25 divs and 20 of them are in my weapon so tiers are low.

Gearing is fucking ass in this game and if I want to upgrade one piece, I have to upgrade several other pieces around it since there's zero fixing available. I'm just working on my arbiter clear since I killed everything else already but I've seen a bunch of stone citadels, failed my only iron to visibility issues, and haven't seen a copper at all. Game sucks.

The strongest crossbow build overall is actually plasma blast+stormburst and you use either galvanic or bow swap packs. Grenades are stronger until late game but eventually you hit a point where cooldown gates your damage output and bosses can't be one shot anymore so lightning ends up outpacing it.

The actual issue is that all of these are designed to be good against small enemies and bad against big enemies. ES less so, but still definitively it is better to take twenty 250 damage hits than 1 5000 damage hit, because your big HP pool means you might survive to kill some of the 250 damage enemies before they hit you again (granularity).

This is not how it should work. Many small enemies should never be something you can overcome with brute numbers. If I see a pack of 10 white mobs, I should be afraid of it. Otherwise, you'll never design a slow-paced game where 1-on-1 combat matters, like they've been trying to do. Ten small enemies should be more threatening than one large enemy, it's basic math. It's realistic. Instead, they've designed it the opposite way, so you can tank any number of tiny hits and the only thing that kills you is oneshots.

When you die, it should be precisely because you made a LOT of small mistakes and the small, noticeable hits added up over time to overwhelm you. And you really shouldn't die in a game like this. The game should be balanced assuming that you'll never die, but such that making mistakes will just make enemies take longer to kill and slow down your clear speed.

What are a few of the meaningful differences between this and diablo4? I played all the diablo games and generally liked them, but I would say I'm not really an arpg person besides that, but a few of my friends have been talking about this game. I've heard that it's mostly like diablo4 but with more options and complexity, but the fundamentals are the same. That sounds fun to me. I played a minion based necromancer and from a few videos I've watched it looks like there is a minion based witch in this one.

However, the only way for them to design a game where you die to many mistakes instead of just one-shots is to remove town portal (and by extension, make it so you can only get out of a situation by getting through it instead of spending hours running back to the waypoint).

If they remove town portal, it would break even more minds than removing Softcore would.

They already did in bosses, so there's no excuses for bosses to one-shot you if you're built well.

They've made gestures towards making flask sustain actually matter (all the flask-related nodes on the green side of the tree are hilarious) but they're not committing to it.

I think this game has the issue that heist had on release, and no one really is talking about it. When a pack of 10 white mobs runs up on you, or you run up to them, they ALL attack you at once, which fucks up every build thats light at all on defenses. When you factor in wrong equations for how you are tanking those 10 hits happening at the same time, it leads to what we have now where only ES stacking absurdly high to not get stunned or not getting hit at all wins out

What really confuses me is that we have two classes on each sixth. If having alternate genders wasn't going to work with the model it would've been extremely obvious to just have gender split like that. For the PoE1 veteran classes, they should've gone for the opposite gender of their original iterations to further differentiate them as characters. Female templar, male ranger and the like.

Is it just me or are like just no buyers for a lot of stuff? Had a 30+ chaos res ring with 50+ other res and life drop, listed it at a little below average at 10 div. I've been dropping the price by 1 div every hour and there are still no buyers. It's been quite some time since I've played a poe 1 league but I remember items just selling way faster once I undercut prices a bit.

I wanted to save up for Ingenuity, but clear with the "chilled enemies shatter as if frozen" ring is so amazing that I can't justify replacing it with anything, and Ingenuity isn't worth it with just 1 ring. I genuinely abhor how soulsshit has had such an impact on modern vidya. How is "soulslike" even a genre (very loose and half-assed one at that), and even an ARPG has rollslop AND GGG are still further continuing down the path of obnoxious and poorly-designed boss fights. I have the quality and the support gem, but losing your charges half the time is still bad.
I used to also die from aoe during flicker strike. For flicker you need more damage/attack speed so that you aren't spending a long time during flicker and dying, but I added herald of ice to my build and the first hit of flicker strike often kills everything in range, so I might as well use storm wave.

There's literally nothing that makes Witchunter seffering tier. Blood mage is suffering, Witchunter is bam bam bam, mobs go pop pop pop, his ascendancy literally just gives him free damage.

If people think that Witchunter is bad, that's because they play galvanic shards. Put lightning infusion on frag rounds and you can actually shock the boss/rare with a blast, add double barrel and have fun.

To be fair Act 2 is a real CBT session.

My first run was completely blind and guideless (500h POE1 experience), I started witch because the pre-release footage shower Contagion+Unearth gameplay and it looked fun, then I went Blood Mage because Infernalist seemed like a fire spellcaster and I ended up clocking 70 hours and 180 deaths to reach the maps for the first time.

Someone needs to fucking explain Witchhunter apologists to me. By results it's worse than several ascendancies no one defends and people openly consider bottom tier. Worse yet, it was one of the most hyped ascendancies early on and countless build makers tried to make it work and gave up on it. FUCKING MATHIL couldn't make Witchhunter good.

Of its 8 nodes, 6 of them have massive functional issues that make them far worse in game than they were speculated to be pre-release. Mathematically, it falls behind almost every ascendancy in the entire game. It's not even versatile in practice because of the rules on how its abilities work limiting it to a very small number of skills that actually work, even in its own weapon class.

Acolyte is in the total gutter but why do so many people defend Witchhunter when Titan, Blood Mage and Warbringer all consistently outclass it by all metrics of power but everyone agrees that they suck.

The campaign in PoE was meant to be a test buffer at each league start, where you somewhat fly through it while testing out newly patched skills or gem interactions and theorycraft your playstyle, so you can adapt and perfect it when mapping.

1 witchunter has a unique feature, A FUCKLOAD of inherent clear, decimation, culling and explosions. That -65% of white mob health and chain explosions.

3 his ascendancy always benefits you to some degree. decimation strike are AT WORST -20% pinnacle boss life. That beats +100% life cost to cast.
4 Movement speed nodes on the tree, the only speed Warrior has is MINUS attack speed.
5 his ascendancy massively buffs clear while his weapon is really good for single target so it's balanced-ish, shockburst rounds are fucking insane, just shock the boss and kill it

But what am I even talking about? Every league mechanic is clear speed, delirium is about clear, breach is clear speed, expedition is clear speed, the map bosses are a joke.

When the swords and Axes are in the game what can't you fucking do?

The fuck are these numbers. Culling checks before hit damage, not after, this means that by default for it to do anything to white mobs, you have to land hit damage on a mob at 30% HP or below that would not normally kill them. Generously, if your culling threshold is up to 70% of their HP, it really begs the question: why are you not one shotting white packs? The worst skills in the game on the worst ascendancies will still typically one shot all normal mobs in the game.

Decimating is at worse, -5% of a pinnacle boss' life. On average, it's -17.5%, which is honestly, pretty good actually. If we assume culling is 5%, you get 22.5% between two nodes, which averages out to an 11.25% more multiplier on each node. But that brings us to the next issue: Tailwind averages something close to a 15% more multiplier between its two nodes, then almost a 60% more multiplier between its Endless Munitions branch. But that said, Deadeye is OP so let's not count it. Instead for comparison, let's look at the average values of the worst ascendancy in the game.
>Reality Rending: 19.25% more average
>Flames of Chayula: 14% more average
>Grasp the Void: 15% more average at level 80, only take two nodes
Acolyte has other issues, but that's just demonstrating a point. Now granted, you're right, Witchhunter does this without those issues, but keep in mind that Decimating and Culling heavily limit Witchhunter's hit abilities. They're not even good gas grenadiers because if you preload gas on boss and the DoT ticks first, it'll actually shut off decimating.

And basically most of your best nodes are similarly gated here. No Mercy is incapable of maintaining uptime against most bosses and does nothing to packs. Sorcery Ward DOES have a massive downside and breaks on several mechanics including Wind Dancer. Weapon Master is a lateral improvement that has a budget requirement.

Witchhunter is in many cases, a one node ascendancy. Only the explosion is unambiguously good.

Weapon swapping is in a bit of a weird place right now where to fully utilize two weapons you use up to half the skills you'd have for a build on each. And 46 weapon swap points, while a lot, are in support of very few weapons on top of being obscenely expensive to maintain. this is why you use scattershot or some other ability like galvanic that will shotgun with multiple hits. you're making it more complicated than it actually is.

there is also a node on the tree that increase your cull threshold by an additional 25%

With a bunch of projectiles bouncing around and 10% mob explode for full health I am oneshotting the packs more often than I don't. They blow up so hard they take the Rares out with them as well.

10% mob explode is low key infinite scaling with mob density. And you can spec your atlas and roll the mapstones for the mob density.

Witchunter is at the very least decent. and does not deserve to be the "worst" or "suffering tier" ascendancy.

preload Oil Grenade always hits first and manages to Decimate before gas cloud bricking it so at the very least you can make it work on bosses.
I don't even run the Decimating/ Concentration anymore, Sorcery Ward is too comfy
