I purposefully try to delay my meaties to hit on frame 3 or 4 of wakeup and mix it up with true meaties to beat pp fishing. You also can change the timing of any jab chain in the game the same way to have different sized gaps. So even when the choice on offense is meaty or frametrap, with a read and perfect execution the defender still can't counter it without just flipping the coin and capcom definitely knows this and wants it to be this way. Parry being safe at range was also definitely 100% intentional because they know it won't land a lot of time but still want you to press parry with random timing every time your turn ends.

you don't have to be 2k MR to have a point. Parry is the most broken mechanic in the game and it needs to be nerfed so it's more situationally useful instead of being a one answer beats all.

Isnt headbutt like +4
So you have 7 frames to beat a jab.
Hellstab is *glances at wiki* 7f and SPD is 5f, as long as they will both reach, yeah its basically a 50/50.

I reached Master, I dont feel good at the game, honestly this is probably equivalent to Super Bronze or Silver just with longer combos thanks to baby mode Drive Rush dump into level 3.
People just jump around and do random shit.

because the game has crazy offense and "just blocking" has two issues: 1) you lose drive and can get burnt out, 2) almost unreactable low/overhead mixes from 95% of the roster.
parry helps with both. anyone suggesting to get rid of perfect parry normals or that suggest parry be high/low, have no idea what they are talking about as they will complain about offense in the next paragraph

Even SF6 has better combos on average than fucking SFV. There were like 4 characters in the entire game that had anything remotely interesting, and they were no different to SF6's outliers like boom loops or dream combos.

AKIs Drive Rush is retarded without even factoring in the fireball, insane speed high low mix and one of the best plus normals with f.HK.
You cant anti air her because she has retarded normals that are so long they can be use as a makeshift divekick, pic related can hit on one side and land on the other and its ambiguous.
Any touch (grounded or airborne) is insane corner carry and a safejump which is insanely priviliged in this game, I barely ever see anyone else doing safejumps.
AKIs corner carry on hit is crazy and its even good on block.
She actually has meaningful blockstrings and most characters dont so you cant easily take your turn.
She seems like an insane rushdown character that just also has huge buttons and long range options for no good reason.

Ok guys I am designing a character, how strong will they be?
They will have a throwloop, but you must manually time a walk up throw, and it will be punished by backdash.
Their plus on block normal will be too slow and short range to use after a throw, it will also only be +1 and leave you outside of throw range.
They will have no projectiles, so they cant do safe meaties that beat supers/some OD reversals.
They will have no overheads so they cant get any cheap DR mix ups, in fact their DR will be extremely slow and short range.
All their specials will be extremely unsafe or so slow that you can easily check them on reaction even with heavy buttons.

The difference in range between throw and cr.MK is far too great to allow a whiff punish. The low ranks where people can't ever anti air go by fast that you'll have to learn something else pretty quick anyways if your approach is to jump a lot. At high level you want to jump when you think they might press a button or special with a long recovery, and any time they get hit or block due to being bad at anti airing on a dime is just a bonus. That said, jumping is pretty good in this game at high level. If you try to play a safe ground game like sfv and zone someone out, it's not gonna work and you're gonna hold a drive rush cancel or some other neutral skip anyways, so getting anti aired on a bad jump and having to take that oki isn't really any worse. A lot of normals also have more recovery in this game so they are easier to jump on

AKI's inputs are on the easier side, i'd say keep using modern for a bit but try to use the full motion for the specials that allow you to do so.

once you learned how to do one, you can do all of AKI's specials and you can go to classic and get a chunky damage boost on all your specials.

If you dont plan on learning classic then how much do you actually want to learn/practice to get better at the game?
At a low skill level it doesnt matter, just use whatever you want, at a higher skill level modern is viable but can be big or small detriment depending the character.
Basically if you are going to get good and try to play more optimally then you are going to have to learn motion inputs for Modern combos, so most players wont bother with losing out on a few normals/specials.
Also you should just learn classic its not that hard, children, cripples and even dogs can do motion inputs, just practice, unless you dont care but then theres no need to post this question.

Modern is perfectly fine, there is a Modern AKI in japan who is even legend rank. However, Aki is a character where her specials vary drastically depending on the strength level which means she isn't able to get by with mostly simple input use like some others chars in Modern so you will have to be proficient in doing QCF motions by atleast plat rank.

Another thing, Modern Aki auto combos are pretty mediocre and resource heavy, especially compared to the other DLC chars who have autos so good that they can easily carry to Master. Now this doesn't mean you can rely on Aki Autos in the early game but by atleast diamond you really want to be able to do her manual routing.

There is no better use of your meter, which starts full and generates passively. Additionally blocked DRC will likely generate the meter back from pressure and hit DRC will win you the game from teleporting them to the corner and running oppressive offense for the rest of the match.

SF6's biggest problem by far is low forward drive rush solving the entire game.

They usually DRC into a blockstun just to wind up back in neutral or I parry and throw them into the corner if they are predictable and use DRC often.
In fact most of the time if I block or parry their DRC, it scares them from using it for the rest of the match.
DRC is innately offensive just like using DI or Jumping in.
Condition your opponent into not spamming it.
The only reason they spam it is because you're not providing a deterrent.

The offensive pressure in this game is insane. If your opponents can never open you up from blocked drive rush on any of the top tiers, they are simply not good at the game. It's only one or two throws before you're in the corner and it's game over.
Additionally you are GOING to be clipped by DRC drive rush regularly if you are ever daring to walk and move in this game.

They'd unironically be better off just spending 2 bars for an OD special.
The only time where that mixup is potentially dangerous is on Gief because he can buffer a command grab.
You can also bait with a whiff if you know that your opponent is trying to go for DRC and jump or parry the punish.
Theres also blocking the DRC in general because as I said, unless you're fighting some cracked reaction speedster like Punk (incredibly unlikely), most of the time they are just DRC into a throw because they dont know what else to do.
Who are you fighting that is committing so much for mediocre pressure and is somehow still winning?
I can only think of akuma because of his abominable blockstuns that just force you to watch until he finally says "your turn"

The way I see it the problem isn't just that SF6 sucks. If the game sucks it's fine, one can just move on and wait for the next game hoping it gets better.
The problem is that SF6 is a commercial success. They saw what's working and will try to replicate with the next game. Even if they eventually fire Takayuki Nakayama and Woshige, they'll learn the wrong lessons.

Again, its not three bars because you gain meter.
But the same could be said of all offense, too. If you think attacking the enemy in the most offense-focused Street Fighter to date is bad then I don't know what to tell you. Play the game. Look at any high level footage. Listen to any pro. Offense is strong, and strike/throw is not weak. Especially in a game full for throwloops.
