During Wildwoods league when it was introduce, literally everyone ran it. I'd gladly take that over some of my lukewarm passive options. Especially when the passive increase thing is so fucking massive

I don't mind a tax node when the quality of life is this good, except, it isn't, because when you mass identify items it misses the extra slots. And you can't ctrl+click transfer them or anything either or apply currency conveniently from there. It's bizarre how many functions the chest is just inexplicably missing.

Alright Invoker bros, I've got 6 points to spend after stripping some stuff I didn't really need. What's the secret sauce?
I've tried:
>+1 to all res + ES in the top left
>+60% ES node above 25 int, then +85% recharge startup
>Immaterial/Shimmering ES/EV cluster
>16% damage to life as mana
>+6% movespeed with some EV/ES and pure EV
None felt like they particularly solved anything

me too, but the more i think about playing the more i realize at the current state the game is just weapon archetype with 1 borken ability that you use and thats it, and some builds using broken/bugged interactions
in total, there are like 6 builds at the moment

I don't know how they will save warrior / maces. Maces seem so fucked skill wise. I like them but everyday I play, I see how ass they can be. Some fights are miserable if you aren't abusing hammer of the gods or shockwave totem. Supercharge slam feels so ass to use now as no boss is ever stunned long enough that you can stage 5 super charge slam. I just want to slam. However, it feels like I have to set myself up to deal damage while moving somehow otherwise I will die. I think that is where the warrior lacks if you play it normally. You can't move and do your slams.

its because the rewards for juicing up content is bad, also we have had this conversation since bisco got added. We have frequently had it be the best way to get gear was just doing low tier maps with rarity and quantity over high tier maps because of shit like div cards in the past

because you would get more currency for T16+2 with 500%

you are trading off not getting as much exp by not doing max tier content, which they have kind of disincentivized chasing anyway because getting to max level is insane amount of time needed.

Again there is no reason the way it is done right now is bad except the fact people think that you NEED to be doing the max tier content at all times for good rewards, why are people mad that you dont have to be

The "nerf" is going to be making nothing but top tier content be good rewards and then everyone is going to bitch about that too anyway, the way the system is setup now gives SSF and tradies a viable way of actually farming currency for crafting their own gear without needing to do that hardest content just to interact with the crafting system

It's a false choice for a large majority of builds. That's the problem with it. It is literally free for all of the powerful builds. There is no trade off presented. And since it is easier on the more powerful builds, it represents a widening of the gap between those builds, and other builds. ARPGs are games about acquiring gear through killing monsters. Having certain builds be more efficient at that means metas eventually devolve around certain archetypes. In D2 it was always the MF sorc. Actively gimping yourself for more rewards by doing easier content is better than making yourself stronger and doing harder content. Reaching the pinnacle then going for MF is much better but if you think your being a genius thinking yeah im gonna go farm lvl 75 cemetaries, its better than doing t16s that is a fundamental design issue..

The fact is rarity right now in its currrent state is something you never take off no matter what (i have been running 200% rarity since whenever they fixed res), and the fact rarity is also quantity and affects basically everything. It needs literally like an 80% effectiveness nerf IMO, its pretty fucking nuts atm, which is why it needs a nerf. In fact if you dont have a max possible rarity set your actively gimping yourself on blood shard gambling atm since its based on your equipped rarity

I feel like resonating shield is a bit lacklustre here when raise shield is just fine but the rage regen is nice. I tried working it into this current build for its armour shred properties but keep falling back to that same boneshatter armour explode stun combo and armour piercing rounds for bosses to setup my sunder

1.1k armour on my shield, havent tried it with freeze but that sounds interesting. the thing with magma barrier is that it hits so hard it never seemed necessary to have an ailment on it. resonating shield is just in my build to give utility, don't think you can put support gems into raise shield

It's not just an end game problem. I levelled my second character maintaining rarity on the way for taste and he was dropping more currency in campaign than my yellow maps character was getting. It's fucking obscene in its current state and it's bound to warp any leagues it's present for. Maybe end game post inflation magic find pieces with great stats are going to be fifty divs weeks into a league but it costs like 10 exalts to get a magic find set with minimally capped resistances on a progressing character and the ones who don't need accuracy to do damage are going to sky rocket ahead.

Why do I feel like life or resists or defense in general is completely worthless in POE2.
Or you have classes like Minion Witch where all your damage is from the passive tree and not gear (because your gear needs Spirit, a dogshit mechanic).
Meanwhile, you can play a Ranger, not invest in any defense, stack the highest damage nodes in the tree, stack all damage on gear and not even care about defense.
And guess who is one shotting Tier 15 maps while you struggle on Tier 5-8?
So POE2 is basically a game where being a Glass Cannon will win?
Why am I playing anything else then? Why do I care about knowing mechanics and on death effects, which enemies have deadly attacks, map and enemy knowledge, item knowledge, boss knowledge.
None of that matters if everything is dead as soon as I press my mouse button once.
The devs had the audacity to completely kill a build (Sorceress) which was good but NOT completely bonkers, and nerf minions and then go on holidays and leave Deadeye Ranger how it was.
So basically, I should just delete all my characters and make a glass cannon?
What sort of game is that? Even the new classes will be clunky dogshit with issues like the current ones.

Yeah, ssf is the way. We have very little endgame content at the moment, so anything you can do to squeeze out more gameplay is what you should be doing. Ssf may be artificial difficulty, but it adds a lot of extra time on the clock before your game is tapped dry.

The game is not meant to be played SSF currently because there is no good way to craft at all outside of omens which are so fucking rare and expensive they might as well not exist.
PoE1 has shit tons of ways to craft that are very accessible (outside of the huge knowledge barrier) to everyone, this makes SSF in PoE1 very feasible and enjoyable because it truly tests your knowledge of the game mechanics.
However PoE2 basically has no crafting whatsoever, you are just gambling until you hit a good item randomly. It's fucking atrocious game design, the entire game falls apart without trade, yet trade is miserable as well especially with the fucked economy now. Like I genuinely wouldn't recommend playing past the campaign at all in this early access.

So basically PoE1 SSF is a very rewarding way of playing the game, while PoE2 SSF is basically just turning an already CBT system into even more misery.

get a loot filter
edit it to highlight items your character uses
pick a zone in act 2 or 3 you find easy with good density
farm it and pick up id all the bases you can use
check the vendors often
if your build is gigafucked look around online for people playing similar builds to see what pathing and gems they use
it's bad until it's better

Resistances are funny in how they're calculated for damage reduction. The game is balanced around the assumption that you have maxed, or over-max, resistances. Grab it and what would one-shot you before is suddenly only dealing 1/3 the damage.

In theory it actually holds up just fine mathematically and extremely smooth clear but it didn't work out at all in the actual game. People were calculating it as being able to run decimating, culling, and the concentration nodes and didn't realize that concentration couldn't actually be maintained in most encounters no matter how well you play or that culling strike was adjusted down from PoE1. Completely fucking wrong, gemling specializes in stat fuckery builds, where you can use skills and equipment combos you have no fucking right being able to use on any other ascendancy. It's why the strongest build in the game right now is gemling going 1000+ points deep into int while using a quarterstaff and a skill tree that paths all the way to MoM despite merc being the literal farthest away from that keystone as physically possible.

Witch Hunter doesn't enable anything unique, it's a jack of all trades, sure it gives you a bit more damage, a bit more survability, a bit more clear etc but that also means it doesn't enable anything at all. For a blind build sure that works fine but if you are actually playing PoE2 to go endgame then witch hunter is easily the worst ascendancy because you can always find a way to play a build better with a different ascendancy purely because specializing into something is always going to be better than just going with the jack of all trades.

You have to fight him in melee range and strafe around him. Dodge his swings.
Usually 3-4 regular swings before he does another 1 shot slam.
Also don't stand in front of him, or he will barrel roll and squish you.

He always opens with a 1 shot slam, so you gotta run directly at him and roll out of the way.

It's honestly fine to be a suboptimal safe ascendancy but WH really isn't that. Culling strike goes dead on a lot of builds, decimating strike can be turned off by some set ups including most bafflingly, stacking gas grenades while a boss spawns in since there's a chance it'll get damage ticked by the poison clouds and you never get decimating strike off. Sorcery ward has a lot of rules you need to follow to make it a good defensive node since you need a way to fix your phys if you take it like cloak of flames, but a lot of options actually fuck it up. If you take say, increased evasion after a dodge roll or scavenged plating, your armor/ev value changing will actually reset the countdown on it and potentially reduce the uptime of the node.

It's not the worst ascendancy but no one should be playing it if they have another option.

It was a slight hyperbole but, pretty sure you do everything at ML 78 because thats where logbooks drop/splinters drop etc. Pre sure 82 is the highest.

See theres contradictary information about IIR (which even ziz mentioned i believe in the interview). I havent played heavily with the numbers yet, and really i cant think of anything more boring. Problem with ascertaining the value of rarity is you can low and high roll, which if you remember the slippery jim video kinda highlights that (convincing enough GGG had to check)

There is no reason to make your character stronger when fubguns pure rarity char does max difficulty arbiter in 6 seconds, and his double herald conversion explodes the screen with no other extra damage.

Yes its magic find meta right now, because there is literally 0 reason to make characters stronger when pure magic find characters are still instant phasing pinnacles and 1 button clearing screens.

Nobody is fucking running MF mapping with no resists or 2k max hit. Its a luxury stat past 100 because there is nothing else to add to a build to make it faster.

Nobody is gonna fucking run 0 ms boots or greeds embrace for MF, until shit like that starts happening its not an issue.

Have they stated what changed or why they changed their map generation?
I'm just doing a HCSSF run in Settlers right now and man the maps both campaign and end game feel so much better due to not being endless corridors. I know it's a common complaint but I don't understand why they moved away from bigger spaces to narrow hallways and streets.

Yes, many endgame builds are going to be nerfed into the ground. Two handed mace gets inherent 1.8 AoE damage, and that scales up hard with AoE talents, so you can effectively auto attack the entire screen as warrior. I seriously doubt the devs intend for that

It's not easier for everyone to use it. The balance issue around MF is that certain builds have higher priority on certain prefixes and some have to sacrifice a much more significant amount of damage or survivability in order to enable magic find compared to others.

Rarity competes with other modifiers, so even if the value of economic value of rarity were equal to all other modifiers, and the balance of all builds was equal, the ones who have less of their power budget invested in the competing modifiers become stronger on merit of being able to farm resources faster than characters who need more power budget on the same slots to scale. And there isn't any possible way to fix this while the stat functions as the way it does because this issue still exists even if all other mechanics are perfectly balanced.

The idea that magic find is only an issue because of class imbalance is a complete lie that's obvious to anyone who's thinking about the game in terms of long term league play. Magic find will absolutely destroy build variety in league start like it had for years until it was nerfed last time.

If MF actually starts interfering with fast gameplay then people can start bitching, but if its just being sprinkled onto already instant screen clearing builds whats the issue.

MF being useful is nice right now because its not hurting player power in any noticeable way, as opposed to POE1 where you had to run dogshit uniques in every slot and were entirely reliant on a single expensive unique to allow you to barely clear maps (fulcrum chieftain, HH deadeye).

I think the devs have made a terrible mistake. People can accept things getting faster over time, that's just natural progression. But once you are used to a certain speed it is very psychologically frustrating to go slower. It is going to be much more difficult to create slow content and have the playerbase accept it than if it had started off too slow and they sped it up over time. They handed everyone a ferrari with training wheels (acts 1-3) and soon they are going to take it away and give us go carts. I am not looking forward to how people are going to take that.

The div/h shit people hunt for is exactly what kills the fun in the game; they don't suddenly have fun because they found the ideal method, they have fun because they know they won't fall behind. Stat weights will be different between builds no matter how well balanced the builds are between each other. If we assume two builds are otherwise perfectly equal in speed, clear, survivability and bossing, the one who loses less stat weight from switching to magic find becomes stronger for progression. Even if we assume it's a minor problem that doesn't hurt much, it's just demonstrably unhealthy for the game. The burden of proof shouldn't be on people who dislike magic find, no one who defends it has ever made any argument at all for keeping it and keeps deflecting the issue off.

If it's a minor issue then it's whatever but it's still an issue. And in the worst case scenario if it turns out to be a major issue in practice, we'll be seeing fucked up league start stats where tons of people are rolling the strongest MF starters in order to fund their actual builds later.

Unfortunately, you would never runs greeds embrace because a better option on an objective level. The issue with MF, its an issue in PoE1 and its an issue in PoE2. If MF is strong and powerful it should be confined to unique items, if its free and easy it shouldnt be as strong as it is now. Right now it feels like ventors + kalandra ring situation right now and it couldnt be more cringe as a result.

Im pretty sure the end outcome will either be a reversion to PoE1 rarity/removal and we get baseline 100% rarity, or they just lower the efficacy of rarity so that 500% feels like 200%, both outcomes will appease the community and i think both outcomes are better than what we have currently. That being said i think more juicing methods would also be appreciated by the community. Suprised wildwoods isnt in the game as a full mech

Also even if you dont wanna map, you need a full rarity set for the gamba vendor which is hilarious it even works like that.

My defense of magic find is that it provides a good chase statistic that doesn't hurt clear speed.

Rich should always get richer, that is and always will be the case no matter what happens with MF, but as it is now I don't have to make a fulcrum chieftain to AFK simulacrums on my side monitor while I map. Instead I can sprinkle some MF on my gear and feel better.

Currently we do NOT sacrifice map clear/difficulty for valuable MF, which is a good thing. Given infinite divines, every build can grab a shitton of MF and still instant clear maps, making it a good chase stat.

Gearing should not be easy to BIS every slot, and MF is the least offensive version. Would people prefer if instead of MF there was another resistance, death resistance, which you needed 100% to avoid instantly dying when zoning into a high difficulty map? Because if they remove MF on gear the devs need to add another useful stat to replace it.

no one is just picking up items and equipping them JUST because they have rarity.
assuming a 1h and off hand, a build has 60 affixes across their gear, 5 or 6 affixes for 80-100% rarity isn't the end of the world.

Yes no shit, but also people dont get hardcore priced out like they do right now, since there arent unique niches in the game right now. In the past you could do sanctum for divs, you could do utlimatum for catas, you could do essence for essences, you could be a humble harvest farmer. These items always retain value because they are used on high level items. This isnt the case in fact outside of extremely lucky item drops, they dont have these exclusive niches in the current economy. Yes you could do 1000 rituals but you know who else is doing 10000 rituals? Everyone.

I'm beginning to understand why everyone takes CI. The only lethal shit in this game is chaos damage. On deaths are, the dumb blooms from cultist arrows, the volatile plants, the poison pools, the acid spit from snakes and snake people... The only thing off the top of my head that's chunked me like that that isn't chaos is the axe thrower packs through a door.

I have my resists almost capped... Except chaos of course. That's at 20%, so unless I want to lose all my other resists (70 ish) and go all in on chaos for like 50-60%...

They really need to diversify damage in this game, or make it so chaos doesn't do so goddamn much.

What makes you say this? In an ideal world maybe, but affix pressure varies from archetype to archetype pretty dramatically right now. The easiest example here to illustrate is that when you're playing a ranged character, Just Don't Get Hit is a real thing. If you're playing a strength based melee character - where a large portion of the power fantasy is in fact "I don't care if I get hit" - you're necessarily going to have a vastly different affix pressure. The cost for reaching 200% IIR or whatever you would want to use as a benchmark from one to the other is pretty different; for some archetypes, it may simply not be feasible.
That's fine in isolation - but when the ranged character is getting divs while the melee character is getting augs, its a different story entirely.

Yep, same in poe 1. Nothing ever kills me in that game except for chaos damage. CI is easy mode. But to be fair, getting 60%+ chaos res in poe 1 also does the trick.

Buddy the cost for reaching 200IIR is 2 ring prefixes and 1 ring suffix. Even if you somehow needed BOTH life and mana, 1-10 damage added to attacks isn't going to make or break any build in game.

Rarity is not item slot exclusive, its something you pursue after your resists are managed. No I don't want to play a fucking game where IIR doesn't exist and I have 100 overcapped resists doing fucknothing besides making me giga immune to expose/ele weakness.

I went to go check poe2db because those numbers sound way better than anything I've so far - I hit 107% and I'm actually sacrificing quite a bit for it since unfortunately contrary to your description of how the mechanic ought to work, it is currently mandatory, not an optional goodie for over-performing builds.
Tier 1 on the ring is ~30% max roll on both the prefix and suffix if I'm reading this right. So two rings rolling max T1 prefix and suffix is 60%, so T1 prefix+suffix on both rings would come to only 120%. Am I making a dumb mistake here?

the original design intention of mf according to ggg was gimping your characters ability to do higher tier content while making lower tier content more rewarding.

Rarity is more valuable than res when you have capped res yes. Pretty much every fucking stat is more valuable than res after you cap them, and prior to capping res they are the most important stats for every fucking build.

Also check the prices for an all res + max tier ele res breach ring vs the price for a double rarity ring. Turns out res is pretty fucking valuable.
