Citadel bosses being souls-like with one shots and 300+ maps required to access them cannot go together with only 1 attempt

Requiring 100+ maps per citadel then offering only 1 try at them is one of the most insanely punishing things I've ever seen in a game. This just fosters the exact opposite of what they want with deliberate, slower combat. No one in their right mind should ever attempt one of these bosses if they don't have a build to 100-0 it within a single stun/freeze. If they don't change this, I know I won't ever "try" one again after failing the only one I've found. I will enter a citadel if and only if I have the millions of DPS needed to not interact with the boss what so ever. Which defeats the entire purpose of it being a souls-like, well built boss. No one will actually PLAY the boss in its intended fashion with the mechanics and the dodge rolling and the interesting things. It's just a DPS test and if you know you don't have the DPS you won't even try. Because the penalty of failure is WAY too high to risk anything.

In poe1 you can reliably farm (non-uber) boss attempts, even in SSF, without too much work. You can fight maven once every 12 maps or so if you can do the higher level invites which drop 3-4 crescent splinters.. So every 12 maps or so you might actually get more than 1 pinnacle fight. Once you're quite strong you're not that time gated to boss attempts.

Bosses should be hard to beat, not a GIANT grind to access. Last Epoch already learned this lesson with their first pinnacle boss was gated behind farming all 10 timelines to a very high level of corruption - a feat 90% of which you are already strong enough to fight the pinnacle boss but can't yet because you need to do a mindless grind to access. They have since made it a lot faster to farm different timelines and added some catchup mechanics and such. Why does poe2 need to learn the same lessons other games already have, for a problem that poe1 doesn't even have

Yesterday, I made a post about how fucking trash Warrior was early on and then went to sleep, and in reply, several anons replied to me how good it was. One of which was a webm of a guy taking several seconds just to kill a small group of white mobs and thinking that was good. Here's the webm in question. WOW SO AMAZING

Now - I don't have a low level Monk to show you what actual good melee looks like, but I do have a low level Mercenary. So I just put some Monk skills on him. Didn't even bother respec'ing him from his ranged talents. So he's extremely shit.

The way I understand it, it's a carryover from PoE1 that keeps the zone for you for 5-10 minutes or so and then deletes it. There's a loading screen that mentions this. In the same way, if you return to a previously explored zone after a while, the map completely resets, so if you had any points of interest you didn't get, you have to search the whole map again. This aspect is very bad yeah.

The original post was about how EARLY Warrior sucks. Then a bunch of retarded cocksuckers had to say "NOOO IT'S GOOD EARLY ON!" which it isn't. Monk is a good melee early on. Monk is good all the way through the game. Warrior is only decent later on. Decent being the key word here. Monk is still better later on.

I wasn't impressed by the play test. Focus mode seems like it's going to make the game too easy. Switch axe felt like shit, mantles and rng decos will be back. And g rank dlc won't be out for around a year so the whole game is going to be a snoozefest other than a handful of post game fights

I levelled warrior and it was fucking awful. It's amazing how much stronger everything else is. You take less damage and have way more uptime. The only advantage warrior has is Perfect Strike fucking chunking dudes and even that seems weak compared to bell shenanigans

It's a bit faster than my Witch, but my Witch did it almost as fast last night. No leveling uniques. Just basic raging spirit minion build. He didn't even get off a fog before dying.
Also, Monk largely stays like that with the right skills and supports. Ice Strike and Bell are fucking insane. I pretty much skipped all the way to t10's when I hit maps with my monk.

And it's still subpar to just holding down right click with Ice Strike and Herald of Ice. Which you can get both within 10 minutes of playing. Ice Strike basically teleports you around the map. Get Killing Palm and suddenly you're zipping around the campaign, one tapping entire groups. A teleport with an aoe attack that also move you.

Both early skills. Warrior sucks.

Focus mode is neat but I think it's going to trivialize what MH is all about: positioning and timing. When you can just aim your attacks last second there's less emphasis on those things. I've been using summons for the +40% more damage on hammer of the gods. I had 3 on my one hander and 6 on my two hander with the thinking that when I switch to my two hander I'd get the extra three just in case some of them were below the HP threshold, but the delay applies to all summons; instead of just the ones that died. I was going to take them off the one hander entirely but they're actually very useful for soaking up damage so you don't just get blapped.

Just the multiple projectiles support being able to be used twice is nice, put 1 on grenade and other on explosive shot. take the +1 grenade projectile talent that increases fuse time (fuse time is irrelevant), then 2 tap mob packs with frag grenade then explosive shot to detonate everything.

no? steelmage did all the content with it and he said that it gets too strong. and having played it myself that build is insanely fucking good. the ONLY downside is that you have to have a totem setup for single target but weapon swapping is automatic now so it doesn't even matter.

The devs also need to learn the Enemy Combat Triangle. Enemies can be any two of these three: Fast, Tough, Power.
>Fast and Powerful enemies are duelists that players have an intense showdown with

>Powerful and Tough enemies are lumbering brutes that must be dodged while you wear them down
Enemies that are Powerful, Fast, AND Tough are just gear checks or build checks. The player has to change their gear and/or build until the enemy is no longer one of those three things relative to their character. So far it seems like the Devs went to the Blizzard School of Encounter Design, which has only one course: Dial everything up to 11.
And that's shit because it tends to force one meta. But with the triangle approach, you can have different builds that are better for different encounter types. You can have a tankier build for Fast and Powerful enemies or a Fast Dot build for Powerful and Tough enemies.

Bonestorm is pretty strong, but Blodmage isn't doing it any favors. Literally just play Sorceress or an Unascended Witch and you'd be stronger than Blood Mage.

I'm saying this as somebody who beat the campaign as Blood Mage, bricked the build following a retarded Anon's advice, and then rerolled Witchunter to simp some divines for his Waifu's feet pick.
The difference is staggering.

Am I retarded or is possible to screw yourself out of an upgrade or two if you use the orbs out of order when upgrading an item? It seems like sometimes I can upgrade a magic item twice then convert it to a rare and upgrade it again, but I can also upgrade it right away, after which point I can't use the magic upgrade on the item anymore.
Would the devs really design something so unintuitive and then not explain it? Would they really incentivize you to sit on gear or grind orbs when the game already struggles with 99.999% of drops being worthless for you?

If you're on SSF like a normal person, learn to """craft""". It's pretty easy and I did the entire game as a Warrior in SSF. It's not that hard.

I've got three SSF characters. All three times I made them from the ground up. All three times I had more than enough gear to get through the game easily.

If you're on Trade, then just buy stuff. There is always stuff going for as cheap as 1 Exalt that is more than enough for you.

My biggest issue with warrior is that armor is worthless. I get to 81% armor and the most basic mob is going to fuck my hp up if he's doing a special attack. Other than that, I feel like you can make even melee work, as long I can actually get boneshatter out, I pretty much delete two entire screens worth of enemies if they're next to each other.

Holy fuck it's hard enough to get decent rolls on a base if I slam a speed essence onto some boots and get 10% move speed one more time I'm going to lose my fucking mind. With how rare essence mobs already are, and how difficult it is to get a specific essence without just buying it, there is no reason they should be able to roll t1 on high level bases.

I was struggling with the Count. Got it to 5% the first try despite him obliterating my minions and my build being very minion-heavy. When he started doing the red ice bombs during the fog while spamming werewolves and charging through the circle every few seconds it just outdamaged my ability to dodge and heal.
So I went and recleared some of the manor, focused on some cold resist, retooled my skills to rely less on minions, and fought him again. Took ages, but he died. And for all of that effort, all of that time, all of that tension of being spammed with literally 5 abilities at once towards the end of the fight, the game handed me nothing but trash I couldn't use.
The game forced me to give up playing what I wanted and how I wanted, but I went with it hoping that the rewards would be something that would make my build more viable. And then there basically wasn't a reward.
I don't fuck with any game that pretends to offer player choice and then fucks you over every time you try to be original. I wanted to try a Death Knight build with Skeletal Archers and Mages backing me up but now I have absolutely no reason to believe that the game isn't going to shit itself if I try to break out of some cookie cutter bullshit.

Do they introduce that after the Count? I assume he's the end of Act 1 and all I had was disenchanting and salvaging available. The only clear upgrade paths were to grind the Manor and to check the vendors for rare upgrades that cost 80% of your gold.

Her kit needs REAP, something to simply attack while moving. Meanwhile my Witchunter is running and gunning like a bat out of hell, I sold one 4-link jeweler's orb for Exalts, bought the boots, ring and belt to cap the resistances and I haven't died since, already completed the tier 1 maps quest, and halfway done with tier 2 maps as well.

I put 1k hours into D1, easily.
I put countless more hours into D2.
I put a ton of time into D3 and other ARPGs like Titan Quest and the Torchlight series.
Imo, a modern ARPG should be BETTER than any of those. It's absolute bullshit to deliberately design a game to be worse than D2 ON PURPOSE out of some desire to provoke nostalgia or something.

It's not doing a single thing to progress the genre. PoE1 at least had some charm in being a love letter to D2. PoE2 is just more of the same but with some souls-like bullshit thrown in because of course devs that had to ripoff D2 can't come up with original game mechanics or systems. Yeah the spells are stong now, but what does the bloodmage ascendancy do for you?
The entire overheal thing is invalidated but the fact you immediatelly spend it on your first spell.

I can see the real value in Grasping Wounds but you know what else has value? The points you spent on the life AND mana sustain you need. And Sanguine power doesn't even look good since the overcap is just a dream that never comes true.

Like you haven't seen any of the mountain of complaints about the orbs from PoE1?
Someone not used to the retarded orb system starts up the game as a newbie and has to immediately start fucking around with 5 types of shard and 5 types of orb and nobody immediately, intuitively understands how the modifier system no matter what they say, so you trial-and-error and notice some of the blue text isn't actually a modifier but whoops you already upgraded it to rare.

Any time some system or mechanic isn't clear, it's on the fucking devs.
EVERY TIME. It's on the devs.
They very easily could have just required you to use 2 magic upgrade orbs before you could convert an item to rare, even if it was something as minor as making one upgrade add a +1 to the item name and a second upgrade add a +2, then the conversion orb that makes it a rare reads, "can upgrade a +2 magic item to a rare item".

Stop making excuses for devs intentionally designing games like it's the fucking 90s. It's intolerable that they would deliberately make the game shittier just to make it feel like a game that's now outdated and stale.

Yeah. All ancillary. You don't rely on skeletons to do anything since they don't do enough damage, body block eachother, and making them tank isn't reliable. Arsonists are like Poe1 mages, you just play it like a blaster in drag; again, parallel despite vast mechanic differences. Clerics get chucked on because you have the spirit, why not. If I'm wrong show me, I'd love to be able to run a skele build since its my favorite but seems to scale as poorly as it used to. Also you can run the unarmed moves with a mace and oneshot packs with the exploding marks + vulnerability. Herald of Ash with Chayula is basically just playing Monk but with fire and more health

I get perma 6k life
add to that 6k ES from grim feast

A single DD cast costs me around 50~70 life (out of 6k life)
A single bonestorm full charge costs around 150~200 (out of 6k life)
That's barely anything specially considering you can get most of it back from leech/remnants.
Once you have decent crit chance (+50%), remnants will be everywhere

Which to be exact? There are no inc life nodes in the tree. I only have a few life rolls in my gear. Recovery comes from leech, a bit of flat regen, vitality and life remnants. Never seen my life go below 50% after reaching T10s and upgrading gear
As for mana, the only mana nodes I have are
>Insightfulness (which also gives you inc ES and % int)
>that one small node in the arcane surge cluster on the top
>Open Mind (which pretty much every witch takes)
All that plus arcane surge, clarity and mana recovery on cull (power siphon, which I only use for generating power charges once in a while)
only times my mana goes under 20% is when fighting tanky bosses (with rare mods) and I just use the flask by then

Poor's man progenesis is just a bonus, it's not really that amazing but still good to have. Crimson power (perfect for lifestacking) or Sunder the Flesh (for making low base crit spells crit viable) are far more build defining (or even Vitality siphon with the instant leech anoint)
I can see why a newer player would get filtered by bloodmage, but just like in PoE1, build making is just about solving problems, and the current state of Bloodmage has problems that are not so straightforward for newer players to solve, however, once you get past that, it's a very powerful ascendancy.

This is what confuses me. Most of these people aren't "playing" the game. They're not farming anything, they're not doing any content, they're just stuck on early bosses. None of the "new" players who are jumping into PoE2 are going to be willing to play through the campaign a second time, much less stick around to play through a temporary league, and none of the streamers and shit jumping in are going to be around past the flavor-of-the-month status.

If you think for a second, you'd realize all of those types of people are ones who have put literal thousands of hours into the first game, and said game has been around for over 10 years. With that much development, most of the issue areas have been addressed and the player base is in a pretty mellow state where you can do what you want with the game.

Poe2 is the sequel, why wouldn't its foundation be scrutinized? GGG knows what they're getting into, they took the risk of claiming "its not just Poe1 with a visual upgrade."

The mapping system will not be "patched out", the game will never one day have the devs realize that basing your entire combat on dodge-roll was a horrible idea that no one wants or wanted. These things will only be double- and tripled-down on with other semi-fun aspects being pared down in order to force you to enjoy the things GGG are committed to even though they suck.

My issues aren't even with the gameplay. I like slow, methodical gameplay. I was distraught when I realized the endgame is just PoE1 one-button excreen explosions again. So everything about their 'vision', and thus stuff not likely to change in PoE2, I don't have an issue with. It's all the shit that is clearly blatantly ported from the first game but simply made worse for the sake of saying they changed things, or things like swarm mechanics that simply don't work with other gameplay decision, that are retarded to me

Also they somehow made melee even worse despite giving them more options for in-fight mobility, and despite having actually made melee somewhat playable in the most recent PoE1 league

This isn't the average gamer. The average gamer gets stuck and then looks up a youtube video on how to pass it. Look at Elden Ring, it's a hard game if you don't know how to cheese it but most players have beaten most of the main bosses. My problem is not that PoE2 will ultimately fail to retain audience even if they massively nerf the game into being brainlessly easy and slow as most new players seem to want. My problem is that PoE2 exists at all, and despite GGG claiming they're still going to make leagues for their functioning game, I can't see them doing more than like, 2 leagues for PoE1, MAYBE 3 max before they drop support for the game completely and move the last few people on it over to PoE2.

>magic (blue)
>rare (yellow)
>unique (orange)
Depending on the rarity, items can have a number of modifiers (stats)
>normal items have 0 mods
>magic items can 1 or 2 mods
>rare items can have up to 6 mods (and yes, there can be rare items with just 1 or 2 mods)
Said rarity system applies to a lot of stuff you can find in PoE from gear to maps, strongboxes, etc.
There exists currency to modify the number of mods in an item and/or to change their rarity
>transmutation orb: adds a mod to a normal item and adds a mod
>augmentation orb: adds a mod to a magic item
>regal orb: adds a mod to a magic item and turns it rare
>alchemy orb: turns normal item to rare with 4 mods.
>exalted orb: adds a mod to a rare item
This system is so straightforward and simple that you could even show it to a children and they will understand it, or hell, you can even have formally verified crafting.

So what. PoE1 got many things right (some were copied from D2), and by extension PoE2 does many things right. Passive tree is good, most skills are good, freedom to use any skill in the game is good, skills without cooldowns for fixed mana cost are good, item system is good, graphics is good, music is good, non-invasive story is good (the content of the story maybe not so much, okay), relative lack of American propaganda is good. The game is solid.

There were no serious, critical meetings in GGG to fundamentally address if roll slop mechanics and weird hybrid baby of Poe1 power creep would create a fulfilling experience in the long term. By whatever update or league in to official launch, we're gonna be godslayer v2 and still have to roll around for whatever eldritch entity we have to beat.

What's a blackpill for me currently is the enforced base skill speed even for shit like Quarterstaff moves, let alone warrior, and the fact they thought this makes sense with letting breaches reach the speed of Poe1.

I've been playing a Witch and just hit maps. Fucked around with a lot of different Skills, eventually settling on something I later found out was pretty meta for Witch.

I decided to try someone else and came to Warrior. I've been using everything I can. I've experimented with every single skill. All of them feel like shit. Not only are they incredibly slow, but they're also incredibly weak in comparison to anything I was doing previously. Eventually I settled on stacking stun and using Bonebreaker with the explosion support. But this is a far cry from what I was originally doing. Not just that, but just surviving feels like ass. I even went out of my way to get myself some early leveling stuff with all the currency I had. And it still feels like shit. It's like I'm playing two different games in two different difficulties.

Just attach an inherent rarity bonus to the tiers of your maps and remove it from gear. Don't increase rarity on modifiers, don't give it bonuses for corruption, don't force people back into the 8 mods + corruption phase of boring gaming

That isn't to say it's impossible. Far from it. But compared to other classes, you are right. You may as well be playing a different game for how different it is in comparison.

Until Stampede, you generally need multiple skills and combos to kill packs. All of which are insanely slow. Combined, it takes you three times longer to kill a simple group of white enemies, compared to say a Sorcerer or Monk or Witch or Mercenary who just one-tap it and keep moving.
And even then, you need multiple ways to boost the action and attack speed of the skill to not feel like shit, which doesn't scale that well on hammer skills anyway because they're literally capped at certain speed levels or the scaling of attack speed is vastly lower.

Warrior is absolute dog shit.

As someone who leveled at least 4 warriors, they're so shit compared to other classed. But they are so satisfying when you get the huge explosion chain.
I say at around Act 3 is when they start feeling more like shit because that's when you have a lot of enemies that bum rush you and ranged enemies at the same time. I had a better time totem spamming at act 3 then the boneshatter combo.

Unfortunately yeah, Warrior kinda sucks. Warrior picks up a bit more in Act 2. Don't fall for the boneshatter retards. Yes, it's powerful for a Warrior, but that's the key word right there, "for a warrior" it's considered laughable for anyone else.
But it also slows down again in Act 3 with how many ranged and slowing enemies there are. And how tough some of the meat shield enemies are.

without acrobatics, evasion can only dodge projectiles and direct attacks. acrobatics also lets you dodge aoe attacks like volatile plants, lightning aoe, monster slam attacks and so on. those types of attacks are extremely op compared to normal attacks in this game so acrobatics is pretty good

That's the developer you're paying to support. They already know how to make it not shit, they're making it shit on purpose

Ok so, prefix is good, suffix is bad. You can get item rarity prefix / chests / more rare mobs / quantity all the good stuff is on the prefix modifier. All the bad stuff is on the suffix, but suffix also increases waypoint rarity depending on how difficult the rolls are. rarity and quantity are the best prefix mods. When you get that, you should slam exalts into it and save it for a BOSS zone, preferably one that has demons and irritated but its all about what you can handle.

You can literally shield charge and kill the entire screen while having a mobility option from level 6 and Boneshatter your way through everything until then. Monk doesn't even have zoom clearing until he has Ice Strike, charged staff, at least 30 spirit + pathed explicitly for charge conversion, so that's at least 15 levels if you beeline for it
Stop trying to play the victim. Warrior's issues are exclusively limited to retards trying to run a shield through HCSSF or something. It objectively has more early damage options but retards are mad they can't use the intentionally slow and delayed skills to quickly pop a screen

That first webm that was posted is kind of bad for judging the power of boneshatter because what you don't see is that massive amount of overkill

what i hate the most about it is how mindless it is. at least in trade you can choose what item you want an upgrade for and you can weigh the available options. meanwhile in ssf you pick up every single useful base and slam it. if its an upgrade you use it, if its a downgrade you drop it, if its a sidegrade you put it in the stash for when you swap out another item and need to fix res or attributes. its braindead as fuck.
its tragic because it used to be the other way around. in poe1 trading means that you mindlessly do your maximum div / hr strategy to buy upgrades while ssfchads have to use every mechanic of the game to their advantage to craft a useful item. this is just sad.

Diablo 4 doesn't misunderstand the meaning of difficulty for just randomly punishing the player for wanting to play the game.

Diablo 4 is no masterpiece, but it is at least kinda fun, the main point of playing video games. PoE2 on the other hand feels like it was designed to inflict pain and suffering onto the player as a punishment for wanting to have fun.

this sums up poe2 perfectly and i just do not fucking understand why they would do this. its evil.
poe1 has a lot of friction in places where it makes sense like the lack of an auction house, needing to pick up items by hand, the entirety of beast crafting, respecs costing currency and so on. you can disagree with those choices but they have a reason.

the friction in poe2 is just there to fuck the player and waste his time, theres no other way to put it.
ultimatum does NOT need the friction of going down the elevator, waiting out a 90 second timer, going up the elevator, walking to the door, waiting for the door to open and walking to the trialmaster before you can finally move on to the next room. its literally just there to waste your time. jonathan decided that an ultimatum should take precisely x minutes so he made it physically impossible to do it any faster than that. why? there is no reason for it. jonathan hates you and wants you to suffer and not have any fun playing his game.

Okay. He's not bad. But he doesn't really seem to shine until later. Bonebreaker with the AOE Support on Heavy Stun is good, especially with Herald of Ash or Infernal Cry supporting it. Don't get me wrong, but it pales in comparison to the things others can do at an equal level. When you get higher, stacking AOE, Crushing Blows, Armor Break, Devastate and Armor Explosion gets to be pretty insane, but again, only in the context of Warrior itself. That isn't to say they don't have their strengths, but their strengths get surpassed by almost everyone else. When you have to interact with the game to a much larger degree, yet still am slow and don't do the level of stun or damage that others do, it gets a bit silly.

I'm really, really hoping this is just a Mace issue. It seems to be just a mace issue. The bizarre choice of making Attack Speed and Action Speed scale to a much lower degree on most of Warrior skills seems insane to me. But again, that could just be a Mace skill. I really am hoping it is.

I'm not saying they're bad. I already said they're good later on, but it's still only within the context of Warriors. Yes, Bonebreaker is good for leveling. But again, it's only within the context of Warriors.
They're just okay in the large scheme. Either Warriors need to be put up to the level of others, or everyone else needs to be brought to their level. There is a reason they only have like 40 people in the top several hundred players, while something like Sorcerer, Ranger, Witch all have several hundred each. Mercenary is also extremely high. Warrior is almost tied with Monk of Chayula with how little people play it. Though Invoker is also massively high.

Everything is equally 'okay' compared to either Deadeye or Stormweaver for literally everything. I have seen no fundamental difference between my Warrior and my other characters. I'm not going to argue. I don't care what your "experience" is. Because factually, Warrior is the worst off. There is a reason he's rated so long in all rankings. did you take the "monsters remove 5% of life on hit" debuff? its fucked, theres no internal cd so you just get oneshot by those pot artillery enemies and some other stuff that hits frequently

same happened to me. i never ever take it, its the only way i could lose a sanctum run. i would rather take the +50% max life on enemies affliction then go down a path with only 1 room choice at the end just so i dont end up in a scenario where i have to take the 5% life removal affliction.

interesting, although i think i would still rather just not bother with it. i really dont like the idea of instantly dying to the pot enemy. its also sad to miss a damage window, afking during the zap phase would make the fight quite a lot slower

Get a relic with +2 slots and hunt merchants. Basically every run since I started doing that ended up with almost 2 full pages of buffs, a number of which make it easier to avoid getting debuffs

If you spell echo support the frost mage and block cancel the command skill it "queues" the echo, you can do that a few times and if you don't cancel it all the previous spell echos will trigger.
I can't figure out how to take advantage of this though. The spell echo will happen at where you cast it at and the cooldown means you can't really use it to stack up a bunch of echos and then trigger them when you need it. Maybe this works with something else but I can't find anything else it works with.

titan boss has killed 3 of my hc chars with 3 different attacks. my first time fighting him none of his attacks did more than like 30% my HP, every other attempt i die in like 4 seconds in some stupid way.
