Honestly, what's left to do than grind m+ if you're hopelessly addicted to doing anything in WoW? There is no reputations to grind worthy of the time. There is no leveling an alt cause it takes 5 hours to hit max. There is no "just play" content left but m+

Long before the foundation of Arathor, even before the first humans walked the lands of Lordaeron, these mighty giant-men built their nation here in Northrend, at the base of the roof of the world. It is on the one hand a shame that these great warriors and hunters have not set out into the world, to join us in our common struggles, to kindle bonds with their progeny, and to teach us the ways and traditions of our forefathers. But perhaps on the other hand, there is some wisdom in their decision to tend to their own problems and guard their own borders, to not seek out conflict and strife on top of their difficult lives, and to shield their traditions from the trends of the global scale. Only time will tell.

Stakes are needed for a expansion to feel investing. How is anyone supposed to care about the big void invasion of Silvermoon, or how big and scary Xal'atath is, when you within two weeks run back her only on screen accomplishment?
Sometimes a character dying is for the best, like when Varian died in Legion and good shit came out of it. It helps people feel invested personally and want to see an end to a killer.
Khadgar should've served that role, but they ran that back so quickly it's just a wet fart of a plot beat that's more annoying than good in the long run.

I see fair complaints about how yet another Horde related character and ex Horde leader is likely going to die in an expansion where two Alliance characters got fake out deaths.
Gallywix can die, but making him the first actual death of this expansion as far as notable named characters go just further shows the behind the scenes fear Blizzard has of anything bad happening alliance side, while Horde can easily die for the plot

That's incorrect. Bilgewater goblins had been portrayed consistently as loyal Garrosh supporters all the way to WoD. Cataclysm questing zones mostly showed neutral Steamwheedle goblins, like Gazlowe, to be the mostly reasonable and amicable ones who just wanted to make tidy profits. Gazlowe only threw in with the Horde proper around BfA as well.

I read recently that Blizzard had originally planned for her raid encounter in Bastion of Twilight to have had Korialstrasz show up instead of Caelestrasz, for the symmetry of Alexstrasza's consort sacrificing himself to take out Deathwing's consort.
The voice lines for him in the encounter were already done and recorded before they were told "oh he's going to die in a shity Golden book no-one will read instead, use someone else".

I swapped to hunting achievements/collecting. The most fun I have had in WoW since I was a teen in the WoTLK days. I don't have the mental energy for the M+ skinner box or modern PVP w/ shuffle and rated Blitz. Both are completely cooked. Give it a shot, or just quit.

Let's be frank here, Sylvanas should've died as an unrepentant monster in WoTLK and they should've made a solid decision on what direction to take the Forsaken after that with a new leader in Cata. Either lean harder into them sliding back into Scourge-like behavior behind the Horde's back, or have them actually start cleaning up their act and stop being such cartoon villains. Instead we got this weird limbo under the schizophrenic characterization of Sylvanas that still isn't resolved under the Desolate Council.

worst case scenario you might have to fly at supersonic speed to get some place which is the same as a portal except it takes 30 seconds instead of a loading screen

the last few expansion I've stopped even watching dungeon guides, I just go in and fail until I don't anymore, I don't care if I brick 10 keys before I learn a dungeon, having to do homework for a videogame feels insane to me in my 30s
obviously I still try to stay informed on my class spec a bit or look up specific things I don't understand
I guess for someone who used to raid hardmore and still enjoys challenging content the main thing I can't get behind is the job application+having a set schedule for when I HAVE to play the game

Yeah, it was always intended to be pseudo-housing with a gameplay system on top. It just became something smaller when the behind the scenes drama with Titan/OW began happening and WoD began through through it's recourse cuts.
Garrisons were always pitched as your stronghold, home, etc on a alien world.
But like most things in WoD, it didn't turn out like it was pitched. But it's still the reason why Garrisons still had the trophy statues you could earn from playing the game in WoD

Dragonflight was also less than two years by 3 whole months. They've been putting out patches at literally the exact same speed as they did in df. They said they used df as a proving grounds for their new workflow pipeline.

It was really dogshit content though
World Quests made artificially 5x longer full of hidden objectives that only revealed themselves once you did the first bit, tricking you into doing what you thought was a simple quest.
The raids were questionable at best, I didn't like them, even Nathria, I don't know why people fawn over it.
The covenant restrictions were incredibly frustrating and feeling forced to play ones I didn't like the theme or the ability of to be competitive was cancer.
The game dropped to all time lows during Shadowlands, not helped of course by 1 year 1 patch content delivery.
It wasn't because le streamer bad.

biggest problem with shadowlands was the slow patch cycle and the lack of free covenant swapping pre 9.1.5. raids, dungeons, pvp and class design were decent (at least when compared to everything that came after legion)

There's a reason: Shadowlands was flawed from the very start of Beta. We knew preemptively it would be a shit expansion.
It was a shit expansion.
Norf and others might've said it was the lawsuit, but that was just the straw that broke the camel's back (they also said this in the videos btw, go and watch them), that gave them an easy out. They were probably reaching the end of their tether anyway.

Nah you can just go fuck yourself I was here for it I'm well aware people mentioned the lawsuit stuff plenty and sure they included it in their quitting videos but it wasn't the sole reason and it wasn't even a majority or large reason. It was just a small slice of a larger rotted pie. I don't even want to get into the issues of shadowlands cause there was so many, but basic shit like covenants, bad dungeons, the maw, lack of tier sets, the literal destruction of the lore, the boring gameplay and shitty world quests, I mean that's just scratching the surface.
